    Great advice. I often worry about what I would do if my dog got injured during a hike.

    Lol that clip of you and the dog where it’s giving up right before the car, reminds me of my pup. He does the same thing. I think he just wants to keep walking tho :p

      Yeah, she was pooped! Plus, I think the rocky terrain at that particular location gets to her paws when we haven't been going often enough (and she refuses boots).

    We take our Maltipoo on day hikes. She absolutely loves it. She looks fancy, but she's rough and tumble. She even loves snow. Obviously, she doesn't carry a pack, but does wear a harness. She can go for several miles, but when she's ready for a break, we put her in a dog backpack, and she enjoys the rest of the trail from her perch.

      That's awesome! It's all about working with what works best for your pooch!

      Thanks, Kat! I had to take her for a hike and tire her out before shooting that part so she would stay still! 😂

    Best way to take my dog while using trekking poles without getting tangled?

    • @WanderingSwitchback

      Great question, Ron! It definitely takes practice and working with your dog. I sometimes have to lift a pole over the waist leash we use because she will fall behind or trot ahead a little. I don't use poles as much with her there as I do when she's not because it takes more brain work and patience! The waist leash is the only thing that even makes it possible- if I held her leash in my hand, it wouldn't work at all. I hope that helps!

    How do you feel about Astm d6400 dog poop bags?

    • @WanderingSwitchback
      @WanderingSwitchback  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I try to use them, personally. Even if they can't be commercially composted, they will break down better than traditional plastics in a landfill. They do, however, tend to be thinner, and they don't hold in odor as well as other plastics. I carry used ones in a pouch when we're hiking, but may switch to something more rigid if I take her on longer backpacking trips.
