747 WOBBLY Crosswind Arrival | Air Force 2 at LAX

- What a Day!!! 747 Lufthansa pilots hard at work, and a surprise appearance by Air Force 2. VP Harris headed to San Francisco early Thursday morning, and returned to Los Angeles Thursday night.
There was no way I was going to miss AF2. We raced to get The LA Flights Show started half an hour early to film the departure. We extended our broadcast by two hours to wait for our “One More Plane”. It was a suspenseful wait due to the fact I couldn’t confirm the destination of AF2 after it departed SFO. We Rolled the Dice and waited for our One More Plane to be the Grand Finale of The LA Flights Show.
I always love to say, “you never know what you’ll see in a day of plane spotting with LA Flights”

That 747 video is outstanding. First, it is my favorite plane of all time. It truly is the King. Developed in 1960’s its 70 years old! Great great clip!!

I was born in 1960 and am 61... Haven’t flown since 1979 to Calgary from SaltLakeCity on a 737 Western Airlines now Delta... we even had to walk out on the tarmac

@@aviationarchie3038 Perhaps but it will never carry as many passengers and as much freight as the queen has in her lifetime and will continue to do so for many years. The 747 is an icon that will never be surpassed.
@@kevinj2412 yeah the thing I'm confused about is the a380 is bigger and they use the 747 as a cargo operator and not the airbus a380

Pilots did a wonderful job! Wobbly approach but the touch was perfect! Nicely done in a tough crosswind. It wasn't as dramatic as it seemed.
The engine almost touched the ground in the amazing approach!

Air Force One was in Portland and Seattle on THURSDAY.
Evey show,,there is always something that tops the one before it. Yesterday was a prime example. You guys did great,,as always ( like 119 by the way...).
Had my mother coming back home today and after seeing this am doubly glad that she did not come into LAX.

Love these highlights! I have it on my TV while you're streaming but have to come and go. I hate coming back and hearing about the awesome ______ (fill in the blank). I know this takes so much more extra time to edit these videos. I want you to know I appreciate the extra work!
It never ceases to amaze me how the B757 looks like a much bigger airplane in pictures and videos than it actually is in real life , especially compared to mid-size widebodies like the 767-300 or 787.
I flew out from LA 3 hours ago and it was a scary take off!

Lovely aircraft. Trouble is the two inner pods are very close to the ground so you have to land completely flat on 800.

I've never seen Air Force 2 for the first time at LAX before that caught me by surprise as for the 747 that was a crosswind landing all right

[Landing gear engineer] Once all the main gear tires are on the runway, there isn't risk of a nacelle strike. The worst that would happen is so much load going into the gear on that side that one or both of the struts bottom: The nitrogen inside gets compressed until metal-on-metal contact occurs at the top of the strut between the piston (shiney part that moves up and down with the tires) and the cylinder. That would be rough on the gear and no fun for passengers, but again shouldn't involve the nacelle scraping (disclosure: I haven't worked on the 747-8).
I was watching for a right-roll rate (angular velocity) just ahead of touchdown which would explain the wing drop, but couldn't detect anything significant. Maybe right aileron was applied at touchdown as the flying pilot continued his or her efforts to keep the wings level but hadn't yet detected touchdown?

Yes upon re-watching the replay yes I seen the engines almost striking the ground also it's very cool to see Air Force 2..... it's pretty cool where I live… AF2..... practices their touch and so's...... while I was working at the airport I briefly took some video of this yes it is pretty cool ❤️❤️✈️✈️

Looks like the far right rear tire blew. All wheels were down before that last blast.
The VP is on AF/2, thats the call sign. The same plane didn't have a call sign designation.
Started with both of them taking off in the morning then ended with only one landing back at LAX???

I do not understand why the Air Force planes were landed at a civilian airtport. They are always are landed on military soil. Why the decoies?
