As always, very much appreciated. I find your stories and words full of wise guidance which reminds me to be kind with myself. And yes, I do agree that sometimes it is rather a sign of smart adaptability and survival to lower our standards in order to find balance and peace of mind.
Thank you Dee! I too was raised with high standards...no elbows on the table, don't say stupid, don't say sweat, say perspire, etc etc... My standards were set too high for a person in the working world, around people who were not raised like me (I had to try to accept bad behavior and people with lower standards than mine, but it was very difficult). I had to realize that not everybody is going to behave the way I was raised to be, and lower my bar. You are so wise and you give much needed advice! Thank you ☺
I became really ill a few years ago and have had a severe chronic condition since. I've been learning to lower my standards for what I can do. I set the bar lower out of self-love so that I can accomplish things. I have a lot of negative self talk inside, but I'm doing my best to be kind to myself and give myself some grace as I try to find the new thresholds of what I can physically do. Thank you for talking about this. Because it is necessary.
You are being so very sensible and wise doing that.I had a male client many years ago who kept beating himself up for having done just the same as you. He explained that he used to be able to do so much more and should be able to now. A bit of realistic thinking that he was trying to compare apples and oranges brought him up short - with a grin. So, I'm an orange now - I can live with that! Just a bit of re-framing of before and after and what a great job you are doing serves us well. PS don't forget to build in some rest/reward times. D
this is AMAZING! every time i get an inner question you come here with the answer I`m not joking, it happens so often I start to think it`s magic! Dee, you are such a bright star.
morning Dee. I agree, "failures" are mere steps along the road. And the best that you can do, is always good enough. If you fall a little short, try again next time, and see if you can do it better. I once got a school report that said "what she lacks in talent, she makes up for with enthusiasm". I'm still like it. I'm not the best singer in the choir (by a long chalk - some great talent there) but I always show up, I learn the pieces to the best of my ability, I take direction, I attend the concerts - and encourage others. And I help organise it. Everyone can smile and be friendly, and make a pot of tea! You're looking well today, Dee (or whenever you made this video). ❤
Thanks for the chat - it is so good to receive. I was in a choir once - 2000 of us singing in a football stadium. We were well rehearsed too. I loved it - but rather too many of us to have a pot of tea!! Take care. D
Thank you, Dee! I'm nineteen, and I find myself in that awkward point of life (so far) where I have no idea what to do for myself or for anything in general. Your videos really help me ground myself and start thinking from the base up. Slowly I am gaining confidence in my approach to life and my ability to contribute to the world. Your wisdom is beautiful and helpful. Thank you again! WWDD? (What Would Dee Do?)
You can do it! -life moves at such a pace - but it is good to take big decisions more slowly if you can - decidions such as what you want to do with the rest of your lfe as it opens up before you. D

The true greatness of a person does not depend in where do you set your standards bar, but in humility, control of the mind and management of emotions.
Good morning Dee Very interesting perspective! Thank you so much and congratulations on such an amazing achievement. What are your standards in society, i.e., service industry, friendships, family I believe it's very important to do my best in everything. I do many things with a high intention.Doing and being my very best is my standard..........but it might not be the same for many others, and this can cause a discrepancy in life. Would love a vlog on this, when you have a moment if possible. :-)

Almost at 200k. Would dearly have loved it to have clicked over on Sunday but I don't think that is going to happen. Am being taken out by a lovely friend to celebrate 10 years of knowing each other. Hit 100k on May 28th so it would also feel right to hit 200k on July 28th. Just a personal 'thing' so of no importance at all! Take care. D
You are so welcome Dee. I agree about this world of ours on so many levels. I do what I can to help the climate - but beyond that I feel helpless and I don't like that. D
@Cheshirelass rest assured Dee you are helping to lift people's spirits and put a smile on faces, that in itself us priceless. Also as dare I say a slightly more mature lady myself (70) it,s great to hear people from my own generation being so positive !!! Thanks again xx
Thank you, Dee. The older I get the higher my standards are becoming. I have also learned that it's fine if others don't have high standards for their own lives.
That is a timely message for me Dee and much appreciated. I was reflecting on the fact that I hadn't achieved as much as I had hoped since Spring and it's end of July - so I am encouraged to re-frame my aims and that will perk me up! Btw full disclosure I received email from the tea company saying they were processing my refund then yesterday a longer email saying they were updating their website to make it clear what the ETD would be and that I need not return the tea - when it arrived and that they hoped I would enjoy it and appreciate the integrity of the company - I am paraphrasing there. And sure enough early evening my Jasmine tea was delivered and it's delicious. As Maureen Lipman said all those years ago "it's good to talk" or in this case email - which really written talking I guess 😊 Big love from Scotland ❤
Ignore my previous message about emailing me - I wanted to check with you. I had recorded another piece for them, but told them I was disappointed. I have removed the written info and contact simply spoken. Are you ok with this now that you have heard back? My trust in them is renewed for which I am glad. I will give them the link to check it out and see if they are ok with that. Dee
@@Cheshirelass just saw this message now Dee. Yes I would say I do have confidence in them now - it did seem like a "fob off" response to my first few emails and then when I said I really wasn't happy and wanted to terminate and claim a refund they were right on it! I think they do want to establish a good reputation and making adjustments to the website so that things like EDT are crystal clear certainly helps with that. We all still need to be careful the scammers are so skilled the most innocuous of actions - like clicking a link can give them access to our data at the very least which is very lucrative. @@Cheshirelass I wrote quite a long reply just a few minutes ago - I only saw your message then and I don't know what has happened to it 🤷 so suffice it to say yes I would have confidence in them now with their response about the refund, making the EDT clear and then the kind gesture that I needn't return the tea. You cannot control how another person feels. Only how you feel about that. It makes no difference that you feel that he doesn't deserve to be happy. Focus on being happy/content yourself without him. D
Good question @rebeccaskalare9445 - for me, it would depend on individual circumstances, with so many factors coming into play. When the 'l' word comes into play, could be that standards drop off your scope? They say that love is blind don't they? D
As far as I am concerned, that is one place where standards need to be maintained. Choices of such as characteristics may change, but that is different. It's a minefield out there already. D
@popcornboxing369 As a woman who has been dating for 43 years, IMHO, No. Never. And not that it's a Bad thing to be single, not at all. But, still dating at 59 is ... ... not where I would be IF I had kept my standards.
Good question! I don't believe that I am wise. I have just learnt a lot about people, mental welfare, nature etc etc over many years. I have forgotten way more than I learnt but seem to be recalling enough to keep me going. Once I have a title, I simply go for it . That is my key and so long as I have a key, I go with the flow. D
