Like the original Aspect Warriors in 40k, the Wood Elves are vintage Jes Goodwin and are evergreen - they look as good today as they did back when they first appeared.
I painted both those plastics and metals back in the day. Some of the first GW/Citadel models I had. Regrettably, I sold those originals but have a good number of painted plastics and metals that I bought about ten years ago. Fond memories!
Lovely project to work on, and great to be able to tie it in with the armies shown in the White Dwarf. Love that, its like doing hobby archaeology. Look forward to seeing the videos to come.
Mikes army was a huge inspiration for me as a kid. Lost so many hours reading these two articles and gazing at the photos. Always wanted to paint on now that my skills are there, but sourcing the minis is just too difficult
I've been looking forward to this. The nostalgia is real. I had so many of thse minis in my first WFB army. I think my favourites are still the wardancers. Lots of cool minis in that set.
I'd have been all over these issues if I had any clue. My young eyes where still glued to Battlemasters and the Legend of Zelda. I remember seeing these models around later and being particularity impressed by Wardancer warpaint and tattoos. Probably McVey.
Oh man! Awesome - I recently got a box with those Warhammer "Fantasy Fighters" -- the one with 5 of each of those old plastics (dwarfs, wood elves, skaven, dark elves, orcs and goblins); very good for our Mega Hammer campaign. Great looking stuff, there. Good call on that elf as an Advanced HeroQuest addition.
I have a similar army (with borrowed units from the high elves and Marauder ranges) waiting to be painted... I plan on using a very unique paint scheme.
Old school magic. I never got into Wood Elves until I bought the 6th edition Battaion set and fell in love with the nature feel to them, along with the little creatures. It just occurred to me that the 20x20 bases are going to become hard to come by, unless there is a third party making them.
What a thing of beauty. You must have spent a fortune here to make this dream come true and I'm looking forward to a painting tutorial. It's a real shame that there is no way to get this myself except but by bit on ebay at great expense because I'd love to do this as well. I'm honestly really jealous.
2:39 That miniature is Glam, the Laughing Warrior. Skarloc is the Captain with bow and sword

Warhammer regiments was my first box of miniatures too! Still love all the sculpts, especially the orcs
Beautiful minis..., I have the complete box. Skarloc is the third mini that you picked (3:07). Thanks for the video.
Awesome and as others have said Skarloc is the hooded man amd don't you dare cut that standard bearer 🫵

I had those White Dwarfs, my favorite time with GW. When the Aspect Warriors were new.

There are loads of companies who make 20x20mm plastics, even some with pre-magnet holes, etc.
Theres loads of non GW 20x20 bases on ebay always available.
3D printers???
