Haiden Deegan, Tom Vialle, RJ Hampshire, Levi Kitchen, Jo Shimoda, Joey Savatgy (on a Triumph!) and many, many others plan on vying for their first AMA National Championship this summer. With Jett and Hunter Lawrence, winners of the last three 250 titles, both in the 450 class, this 250 division is wide open. Jason Weigandt, Steve Matthes and Jason Thomas are here to debate and argue all the hot topics as a new season looms.

JT - you are the man for telling Weege how valuable he is to this sport! He’s a legend!!
Even if he hasn't accomplished anything . 🤣
Weege is everywhere and anywhere and in the know on everything (except wreching 🤣)!
This isn't even his only sport! Dude is legend and down to earth.
Been around him for years, can’t even remember how many years it’s been,he’s so down to earth and likeable .
Weege is the MAN.. Just a modest one. Moto would not be the same without him!
Jason is always very professional and supportive to all the riders.
"I really haven't accomplished that much at all"

He is a national treasure!
WEEDGE YOU ARE THE MAN!!!
I'm gay for Weege
Dicks out for Weege
IMO in order: Haiden Deegan, Levi Kitchen, Tom Vialle, RJ Hampshire. Either way, we are in for a fantastic Outdoor season!
Thank God for the 250 class out doors this year
Watch out for chase. I think this year it will be Jett vs chase, gives me chase/Eli 2022 vibes
@@michaelknabusch6011No way Chase is as close to Jett as he was to Tomac
Weedge and James should be in the booth for SX all year.

I think guillem farres could be a good sleeper pick if hes healthy. I dont see him winning the title or anything but i could definitely see him running towards the front a couple rounds
Unfortunately he'll miss at least half of the rounds. He had some complications after his surgery. Really sucks. He has been hurt most of the last 2 years with 0 fault of his own. Last year involved in a start crash with nowhere to go. This year hurt because the bike broke in the whoops...
Who? JK, good call. Sounds like from the comment above it could be a little rough for a while.
Never known any presenter who can sneak in a show sponsor so effortless as weege 😂
.... aaand 15 minutes can save you up to 15%
Definitely more excited about the 250 class
Dax is going to be the dark horse
Fair enough he could be up there. I haven't seen enough
Hymas will be really good too if he's healthy, he had good results last year outdoors
@@yamahakid450fhymas is good n i see him winning a few throught his career but he jus dont seem the have the dog in him. Hes an easy pass for any the top guys unless he gets out front n really really pulls away. I think dax n juju gonna be the best out of that age group along wit deegs
I’m so excited for this season. It has the potential to be possibly the greatest we have ever seen. Only reason I’m not saying it is for sure is because tomac and Webb are out for the beginning portion but otherwise this has all the ingredients to be epic. I’m here for it
Possibly 250 but 450 is looking grim for entertainment.
I’m excited for the 250 outdoor this year, 450 not so much
If the 250 racing is half as good as MX2 in the world championships it will be awesome. Good and close racing is what I'm looking forward to in the U.S nationals.
"Like that washougal race and a few others that come to mind" not a single other outdoor comes to mind from last year except the washougal ride lol
Hope Deegan gets whooped by a French guy again
He won red bud as well bud .
@kevinsnow9157 he was also losing redbud before a motor let go. Not to discredit the win but it wasn't anything in comparison to the washougal ride. He straight up smoked hunter there.
@@soren00024 wrong again man . Hunter crashed at red bud , his motor gave out in moto 1 at southwick.
Washougal was the most dominant weekend for anyone last year.
I think it could be the Joe's show both Sushi and Savatgy........ i belive Sushi is now comfortable on the bike and he has always been fast and now hes in a situation where its not so start dependent because he has time to make up for a poor start but always came on strong at end of races ..... his SX wasnt that bad if it wasnt for the DNF he was in the championship and technically was still within a race win of the top 2 of the championship going into SLC hope he is healthy...... Savatgy on the other has spent all SX season testing the MX bike so his bike should be dialed and being forced to sit out the SX season by a technicality with in the rules would have stung and should be using that as big time motivation........ i dont think Deegan will be a anywhere near this the amount of competition this year in outdoors that is currently fit and healthy is arguably better and deeper than last year. Vialle was fast but threw it away so many times last year but now has confidence and knowledge and thats a kind of dangerous, Kitchen can wax everyone any day but needs consistency and did he turn that corner with the SX series and R.J. what can you say he can be an animal........
Yet it literally says in this, that Shimoda isn't training at all atm, could hardly walk a week ago. So he's bound to lose out on alot of points at the start. Therefore it'll be the same as last year. He'll be stronger at the end but it will be way to late. It'll be between Deegan and Vialle for the title I believe. The rest make too many mistakes
@Carpfishing4400 couldn't walk a week ago but still managed a 4th on the day if he can manage top 5 in first say 2 or 3 rounds and gets back to full health he's in for a proper shot at this
@@Sh1tstir 2 35minute moto's on a rough outdoor track is no joke compared to about 15/16 laps on a Supercross track. Moto 1 might go ok, but moto 2 will be very tough for him if he's nowhere near 100% fitness
@@Carpfishing4400 Jo's been seen practicing at Glen Helen and Perris Raceway since the injury (Vital even posted a video of it), so I don't think it's nearly as bad as they're making it out to be. Jo's fitness has always been a strength of his, so I don't think a week off is really going to impact much. Bigger thing is how much pain the foot's causing him, but if he's practicing, I can't imagine it's too unbearable. He and Deegan are still my top 2 for Pala assuming Jo's at 85-90%.
The 450 class better figure something out.
We all saw last year that those same old lap times just isn't got to cut it anymore.
The whole field needs to find a few seconds of speed or they're just not going to keep up.
Lawrence single handedly made the entire sport faster last year in his rookie season.
We all know " beast mode tomac was something to witness, we haven't even begun to see Lawrence in beast mode yet !!!
i can not wait for outdoors im all way in New Zealand so cant just go to races supercross was epic
Bummed that Jeremy Martin isn't out there. I was really hoping for him to kick ass again this summer.
Is he going to retire?
Hope not!
He hasn’t kicked ass in years, he should retire before he takes another hit to the head
Deegan is trying to play a bad guy.. problem with that is this.
An angry deegan without a Travis Pastrana to answer back is like a duck out of water.
I think Deegans cockyness will catch up to him in outdoors..
Completely agree. I think he's expecting himself to win the title and to do it in somewhat dominant fashion. If he starts losing races I see him coming unraveled.
Deegs didnt win supercross championship but still won more races than anyone else. So as long as he can be consistant he the guy.
Man i hope levi can win the outdoors!
Yessirrrrrr 47 got it
That’s Steve’s “I’m really happy to be here” look. Love you guys, love the shows!
The rider with the most points will be the champion!..
Smart guy...
This was a great video Jason! I appreciate the diversity of the personalities, the opinions were solid. 🏁 Jason you are definitely my favorite to host any Motocross or Supercross season.
If vialle has the speed he had in the gps he will win for sure but i didnt see that speed not even once last outdoors
I'm with ya. I think he was overwhelmed last season. Trying to learn supercross, practice, qualification and racing same day outdoors. It all seemed to get on top of him. If he raises his confidence, he'll win
I’d say tryna learn the tracks and also going backwards with the bike didn’t help Tom. I’m a diehard vialle fan and excited to see what happens this summer, I think he could go trifecta this season (SX, MX, Mxon)
Vialle coming off the sx championship might be a problem
@bradshaw2244 going backwards with the bike? Ok..
@72Chevylover The bike was a shit box last year. It seems like he's finally comfortable now.
I can't wait it's gonna be a good yr of battling
Steve dropping little bits of information like Smith to triumph being a done deal is the reason why I loathe this sport for its secrecy, and why I love shows like these
Been out for 2 weeks
It is a done deal… where have you been? You do realize these guys actually talk to people that are part of these teams that make these decisions and it’s not some big secret. They just don’t announce it officially until the season is over because they are still on another team and aren’t going to promote another team while they are racing for one. But it’s 100% a done deal that smith is going to triumph, not sure where you’ve been the last few weeks..
If yall ever see weege around at your local national just say thank you!!! Hes done so much for our sport its unreal.
im glad levi left star. you know hes belittled being at the deegan camp there. he wants his own way and i love it
Him and deegan are good friends but he left because Star wouldn’t let him do things on his own like he wanted. He obviously also wants to be the #1 250 guy as well, but he said himself that he was planning on signing with star Yamaha but he wanted to be able to go and train on his own some and Bobby wasn’t going to let him so PC said as long as his results are there then he can do whatever he wants and he was gone. He also wanted away from the insane amount of fans always at the star trailer yelling and screaming for deegan and also them being dumb not even knowing their names outside of deegan. But that deegan stuff wasn’t really the main reason he left
Schock - multiple moto podiums and a moto win. Stamp it!!
Guys You are forgetting that Joey Savatgy is Down with the Clown!!!!Savatgy will Be Slicing through the competition.ICP!
Savatgy is a jugglin’ jugga-lugglo?
He shouldn’t even be in the 250 class. Dude competed against Dungey for god sakes.
Youngster speed will surprise him.
@@MrIke303I agree he shouldn't be in 250 SX, but I think 250 MX should be open to anyone. It's the full series with a 40 man gate. Privateers will have plenty of opportunities to show their speed for a ride throughout the year.
Savatgy on a 250 is Awesome and it could be a stepping stone to the New Triumph 450. Can't shit on any of these guys 250 or 450 Dosen't Matter the age you have to be a BADASS ride either class.
***APOLOGIES, LONG COMMENT ALERT***Deegan and Vialle are the only ones (more Deegan than Vialle - he was just extremely consistent. which wins titles) to show they are capable of performing under immense pressure. When they have to get a certain result. Deegan did that a few times this SX season. Even though he fell short, that part was really impressive. I think it’ll be down to those two. RJ gets sketchy sometimes and his starts are not consistent enough. Levi, if he isn’t top 3 off the start, he can’t move through the pack. Deegan’s starts have been pretty good, besides a couple stupid mistakes. If he gets out front, that boy is gone. His fitness is miles ahead of everyone else too. In outdoors, you have to be a freaking man and send it sometimes. He can do that better than anyone I think (besides RJ maybe 😂). I think he learned a hell of a lot more by not winning this title than if he had been perfect all SX season. It’s important to learn how to persevere through stress and pressure. If you’re in a title fight, those skills are very important. We know Vialle can do that. This season is going to be the best 250 MX season we’ve had in a long time. MANY dudes have an opportunity to win, unlike the last few seasons having Jett in the class. But JT…. COME ON BRO. JORDAN SMITH “FAST” FOR OUTDOORS? You’ve got to be kidding me. No way. He’s damn good in the whoops and that’s pretty much the only reason he’s had amazing speed in SX. He was on Deegan for a good while in SLC and even with his whoop speed, he couldn’t pass Deegan. He also doesn’t have the smarts enough to make it through an entire season.
Dam find a publisher for the book you just wrote
@@rad9693 you know what, you might be right. I’d make one hell of a novel
Thank you very much 😊...
Excited to see chef outdoors on the kawi. Rj off a championship will be a problem for sure. Vialle and Deegan will probably be solid.
Why do you think RJ winning the SX Championship will be a problem? I could see if he was a rookie, but I think this is his 10th season.
@@jameskrause8902 momentum is a big thing in this sport regardless of age. We know how long he’s been on a 250. But he’s there so still gotta count him in🤷♂️

Keep your eye on ju ju training with Tom has made him fast in moto. Hopefully Smith comes in and gives Deegan hell. Time to give up on forkner he can't stay healthy it's a shame because he's so good
Boomer is my dark horse this year. I said it a year ago, I think he has more natural ability than Jett and Deegs and mental strength better than anyone his age. Just my opinion.
Thank you, Maxxis tires!
Appreciate the introduction, I knew JT was a racer but wasn’t aware Steve was a factory mechanic, pretty cool.
It's Moto, anything can happen. Let's Go!
Deegan has the speed but his age, maturity level and exuberance will have him on the ground too many times. Vialle is the right choice because of his experience and maturity. But nothing is less predictable than MX2024.
That’s what yall said about him last year and he didn’t hardly crash last year. The kid knows how to ride fast, especially outdoors and he’s only going to be even better. What I don’t understand is why so many of yall are picking Vialle when overall he sucked last year outdoors. He had what, 1 moto win and it was at southwick in the sand. Outside of that he was always on the ground or nowhere near the front. Yeah you can say “he didn’t know the tracks” but neither did deegan outside of a few of them and he did just fine. Obviously Vialle will be better this year than last but I don’t see him being up there battling for the wins too often or the title. I’m going with deegan, Levi, shimoda, RJ.. in that order.
I grew up watching Haiden Deegan racing when he was just a little kid. The kid has some serious grit and work ethic. He could have had a life of luxury vacations and not having to work or do anything but have fun but he chose to become a pro racer. I admire him for that. Most kids in his position would take advantage of their parent's money and become bums. Not Haiden. He is a hard worker.
Deegan at washougal last year sticks in my mind , he was on another level
Restart your modem, Mathis. Lucas Coenen could steal the MXGP2 champion from Kay de Wolf. Deegan/Vialle will battle all summer, I think, for AMA Pro Motocross.
This message is for Steve MAGA BABY 🇺🇸👊

Deegs going to kick ass!!!!
The problem with people crashing nowadays is they are going so fast no matter what the crashes you’re bound to get hurt
Steve "Party never stops" 💯👊🏼💯
Lol, Jo has more career moto wins than Levi has moto podiums, not having him in that group is ridiculous. You guys have hated on him his whole career though, so it shouldn't be too surprising.
The thing is if Jo can start real strong
@@joesteidl8134 Yeah, he really just needs to start like he did in 2022; top 4 every race. You remove Jett and he wins that title over Hunter and J-Coop, two guys that I expect to be challenging for podiums in the 450s.
Ya I expect Joe to throw down in outdoors this year.
Yet he constantly crashes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Do not overlook Joe for sure!
Thanks for another good show.
Yamaha has no reason to bring Deegan up until Tomac or Webb move on. Or he is forced out of the 250s.
Let’s go JO!!
Kitchen, Vialle, and Deegan your top 3. Would pick Shimoda but he always starts off slow.
I thinks it’s between Deegan and Levi. Hampshire is inconsistent although he has the speed. Vialle was not impressive in motocross even though that’s where his experience in racing is at. Levi was previously inconsistent but he’s got some new swagger on that new green bike. My money is on Deegan.

I'm with JT on RJ. He's hungry. He's not even content milking and defend his 250 SX title. He wants to ride 450s on the other coast. That doesn't say "easy" to me, that says I want to get better and win more.
I'm not a huge Weege (WWF) hype announcer type, but my favorite is either Weege and Grant or Weege and JS

I am surprised levi's own words are not referenced. He said himself, unless he gets the holeshot, he has little chance of winning a race. His starts are key to him winning. He has rarely came from behind to win without anothers crash or mistake.

noone can run with jett week in and i dont think chase has the pace
Ryder D is going to shock.
Deegs, Kitchen, Tom. That’s your championship, in that order. Jo and RJ will shine here and there but Hayden I feel is not happy about the SX loss and is coming for blood.
Deegs is in his head to much he will have some good rides but the competition is arguably alot deeper this year. It's year 2 for Vialle and he was fast last year particularly in the 2nd motos his biggest issue were lack of knowledge and crashes...... his far to polished a rider to not sort that out. Sushi finished 2nd to Jett and 3rd last year and let's face it he came into last year way way underdone because of injury but when he was healthy and fit was able to run with Deegan hence how he got 3rd...... This MX may just come down to who's injured the least. No one here stands out yet everyone has potential unlike the previous 3 years where we kind of knew it was Jetts to loose twice and then Hunter's.........
Kind of a suprise that Honda didn't force Hunter to defend his title to be honest here
Sorry but danger brat will send it right into the dirt.
No mention of Boomer. He's my dark horse for 2024, and I'm going to say RJ has the pressure off now and will shine and potentially win outdoors 2024. Just my opinion.

He's going to get smoked.
@72Chevylover what makes you think a rider like Savatgy on the triumph which has proven already in MXGP it can podium would get smoked? I would be interested to hear your reason for thinking that?
@kelgusthart1789 first, he's not eligible for 250 ( in Supercross but Motocross I guess he's eligible)*** as he pointed out in 2018. On 450 he hasn't been inside the top 2020 last couple years, before that he was barely top 10 and he's like 30 or older and hasn't been racing or riding enough against anyone with speed lately. He's done. Like the guy, but it's over now for any top 10s. Like I said, he will get smoked and smoked bad.
@72Chevylover oh OK. Because as far as I am aware he is racing 250 outdoors this weekend for Triumph. Guess we will find out soon. 👍
@kelgusthart1789 ya, I think he's allowed to raceMoto its Supercross, only the pointing out rule. Weird, but I was wrong. Now I know a little more about the rules, I guess.

Yep ole Seth ! Same thing with Deegan but twice on the east coast. At least he wasn't stingy with his take out's
He's podiumed 6 motos his entire career, he shouldn't even be in that group. Vialle, Deegan, and Shimoda are the clear top 3; RJ and Levi likely won't even be factors come High Point.
I’m not buying jo shimoda as a title threat until he proves he’s a title threat. Period 👍🏻
Finished 2nd to Jett Lawrance and 3rd to Hunter Lawrance after entering the season injured and it wasn't until about halfway in until he started to ride unhindered by that injury what more dose he need to prove to be a title threat here...... only thing that may hamper him is this leg/foot injury that JT mentioned hopefully its minor so we can see a healthy Sushi role....... unlike SX, MX isn't so start dependent and Jo is really strong in the back half of races always has been. If Joe is within 10 seconds of the leader at the 15 minute mark he is going to go close to winning everyweek. Vialle is going to shock everyone now he has knowledge of tracks, conditions, and confidence
@@Sh1tstir I’m not buying it. I can see with my eyes that he hasn’t been a title contender. He may have made points up at the end of seasons but never has been a serious threat.
