Pretty creative with distractions - that was also one of my problem in training with Nikita alone. The only solution I had came up with was to bring her in a near-by nature trail, where I knew there were at time 'a lot' of people walking, dogs, and of course birds. Not convenient for winter training or rainy days... I'll certainly keep that in mind for the next one. Thank you for another fabulous presentation.!.
There are many businesses that will welcome a behaved dog even for training. Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware stores, Joanne Crafts, Cabelas and several others in the US. My local garden center is pet friendly and was very accommodating for me and my new rescue.
I've used a lot of all of this; I call it distraction alley. However, I have yet to be able to come up with that 'startle' noise effect that makes the dog jump and get distracted. Someone suggested dragging plastic containers attached to your foot to make the noise. Comment?
Janice, such clever solutions to proofing while training alone, thanks 😊
Great tips. Thanks, Janice.
Love your style of presentation in your videos, thank you for sharing your valuable knowledge.
Thank you!

Great video! I work mostly by myself so it's really given me more ideas.
Those are diabolical!

I've attached empty water jugs to a long leash that is tied to my pant belt loop. It's a great distraction.
I've used bells and water bottles with pebbles - just be careful not to overwhelm.
