I like his matter-of-fact explanation and simple illustration of the techniques he uses to improve the 'heel' position of the dog. A fellow working with Leerburg is a top flight instructor and can be relied on to have excellent skills.

Excellent. Thank you Forrest. Needed this. My GSD crowds me and always moves his butt out.

Amazing! If I could just get my shelter boy to come when I call him while we're outdoors, I'd be immensely grateful. I want him to be able to run and jump and chase things through the desert--he needs to!--but his obstinate recall refusal denies him the off-leash freedom he craves. I'm at my wit's end . . . further training no longer in budget, but I won't be bringing him back to "prison," where he spent about a third of his almost three-year-old life. (I have him only since 8/22, and I walked him at the shelter for 6 weeks before adopting.) Grateful that at least he's a good boy in the house. I have found shelter dogs to be a breed all their own. No pun intended. Sorry for venting.

so you rambled about a 'recall' that is not reliable. Go look in TH-cam for Jeff Gellman and Sean O'Shea and Tyler Muto.... then get their clips about the 'recall' command. The dog is not 'obstinate'.... that label is called anthropomorphism (attributes human emotion to animals). You have a training issue to resolve and you can learn what to do from professionals.
