    Great test! They say for long highway rides where there isn't much start/stop or downhill, turning regen completely off will get you the best range. If you can coast, that's range for free. Another sweet video!

      Yeah, I did a test ride today - I think cruise control might actually be hurting me a little on the hills and curves in the blue ridge parkway. I'm doing the same route again tomorrow, this time without cruise control since it's pretty much hilly the entire route. I'm also going to focus more on feathering the throttle. Looking forward to your next video - although can't do much during winter lol

    • @AdventuresonZero
      @AdventuresonZero  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thecolor I think the difference is marginal between the two, especially over similar terrain. The bike is consistent with the amount of power/acceleration when set on cruise control, so it will attempt to accelerate at the same rate no matter the road conditions. A rider could manually accelerate less and save some consumption, however I’m not sure how much that would actually be - maybe a mile or two. But I have no idea of testing whether I’m right or wrong

    They could put lever on the left for direct control over regen, that way coasting could be used mist of the time and regen used for control of downhill and general slowing down without using brakes at all unless you really need to ?

    • @AdventuresonZero
      @AdventuresonZero  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A simple solution I use is riding with two custom profiles, all other riding modes are disabled. The two profiles are identical, one has full regen the other has it off. Great for when I take the interstate, can flick regen off quickly.

    My LW cust.A. mode is 60,60,80 and as long as I stay under 70mph I do about 1.1miles per 1%. However, I can not slowly roll the throttle so I could be doing better.

    • @AdventuresonZero
      @AdventuresonZero  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s pretty good at 70mph. Yeah the slow roll on takes constant deliberate thought. If I feel myself being pushed into the back of the seat, I know I’m accelerating too much, but often times I forget to roll easy. It’s surprising how much that affects range

    When I tried Energica with it's stronger regen, then I tried again the Livewire. I made a custom sport profile adding regen to 100% (following your video tutorial).
    I see no reason to have regen any less then 100% in any vehicle, it doesn't make any sense. Regen is the way.

    • @AdventuresonZero
      @AdventuresonZero  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think in some cases regen is less effective, predominantly in really flat terrain and grid style roadways that don’t have curves or tight turns. coasting to a stop may save more energy it takes to make it to the destination. That’s al theory on my end, and can’t really test that where I am. But I agree that 100% regen is the way to go - just hope you don’t tap your brake on the freeway 😂 I have another profile just for interstate that does t have regen.

    • @IIARROWS
      @IIARROWS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AdventuresonZero Well, to "coast" you just touch the throttle ever so slightly. The control is so precise and fluid that's how I did it. It's that different from my Low Rider S (the 110" engine combined with the relative light frame is already heavier on the engine breaking then most bikes) that I'm always in control.
      The Livewire especially, because you also control the regen strength easily when on minimum throttle (they even show you).
      It makes the ride more fun too.

    • @IIARROWS
      @IIARROWS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh, and for long, boring flat*... I just turn on cruise control and relax. ;)

    • @AdventuresonZero
      @AdventuresonZero  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dannydaw59 it can, just depends if you need to slow down. Theres an art to it, as you can never replace more than you take out. You don’t want to slow down too much and lost the momentum needed to maintain speed. Then you’re taking out energy you just put in. In my experience, energy conservation by coasting is better for range than regen braking.
