Most capitalism defenders don't even know what capitalism is. Capitalism was turned into a mythos in their head, which could be described as "everything that is good - capitalism, everything that is bad - socialism"
Actually THE best video debunking conspiracy theories. Good news, cause if we try to tackle the roots of conspiracy theories, it could create new union between the supposed political poles
In all honesty, being a centrist, a liberal, or a traditional conservative in this political climate is just getting in the friggin' way. Going forward as a species we are going to need two things in infinite supply: clean water and clean energy. Capitalism does not deal in infinite supply, and is not serving our species well. It needs to be dismantled. Socialism is the best way forward. We will still thrive as individuals, because we can work to make our new social systems benefit us all. It's a matter of time, education, and social will. I honestly do think we'll make it, but barely - likely after a world war. Not the country-on-country kind, either. I'd rather see this future of mine proceed peacefully, but realistically it's not likely. That's about as optimistic as I can be without seriously deluding myself.
OkiWeirdStories has a pretty good set of videos regarding the frogs including an interview with the scientist who discovered the phenomenon Tyrone Hayes and Syngentas repression of his findings
I hope immigrants coming to Western countries like mine get to live in the one they imagined. One where people could pay for university and an apartment with a friend and a part-time job and be comfortable. One where people could retire at 65 at the latest and worked after only because they genuinely wanted something to do. It's like we are lying to them about what we are and ripping them off, not unlike how we were during colonialism. Except a lot of immigrants also know it's a lie
Speaking of migration and the desastrous effects it has on countries of emigration: Several Eastern European countries are facing demographic collapse within foreseeable future. Bosnia, which among these I know best, has a population of under 2,8 million as we speak. (According to unreliable official data it is about 3.5 mio, but these numbers are from the already unreliable 2013 census.) In 1991, before the war, it was roughly 4,4 million. In other words: The country's population has shrunk by more than a third in just 30 years. The young emigrate in scores as they see no perspective at home. Many who work in medical or technical professions are actively encouraged to do so by the German or - to a lesser extent - the Austrian government. At the same time, Western corporations are syphoning off billions in profits - the banking and the insurance sector are heavily dominated by Austrian corporations, cosmetics are sold in what can be described as an Austrian-German oligopoly, plus we dump our used (mainly German manufactured) cars on them - which are more expensive than they are in Austria or Germany because no one can afford new cars. To a slightly lesser degree this also applies to Serbia and Croatia, who are also dealing with substantial emigration and an essentially identical economic structure. Where do these people go to? Austria, Germany and Switzerland, followed by the Skandinavian countries. In Vienna, my home city, one in ten was either born in former Yugoslavia or has parents who were, making it home to the biggest diaspora of Serbians and Bosnians outside former YU. Now, I love these people, have learned their language somewhat, and happen to live in a neighborhood that's even majority Ex-YU. I'm happy for everyone who finds a better life here and do what i can that this happens under fair conditions. But: I hate what emigration does to their home countries, and I hate that the capitalists of my own country are to a large part to blame for it. And I hate how many of them are treated here. Not just because it's unfair but because it has started endangering our democratic system. See here for more info about that latter aspect: balkanstories.net/2020/10/09/half-a-democracy/ (Hope you don't consider it spamming.)
@@Alex-lg6nz I'm not overly familiar with that region, to be honest, but I am perfectly willing to consider this plausible. In the case of Ukraine I'd assume it wasn't "just" emigration but emigration aggravated by increased mortality in the years post 1991 - a phenomenon also experienced in Russia, where throughout the 1990's life expectancy for men was at or below 60. This was clearly a result of economic "shock therapy".
The demographic collapse of former Yugoslav countries has been a major issue for a while. Simply put, the collapse of former Yugoslavia has caused each country to implement unsuccessful capitalist systems that have screwed over most of the population. Along with that standards of living for most people are piss poor, a college diploma rarely does much to improve your chances of finding a job, women still face serious discrimination in the workplace, our legal system is a joke, our healthcare system is infamously slow, its incredibly difficult to start your own business, etc. Now, as somebody whose lived in Croatia their whole life, it isn't as bad as a lot of other countries. The main reason for this demographic collapse is due to the fact that standards of living are simply higher in countries not that far away from us. Its a common occurence to see a family where the father works in Germany and visits over the weekend. You need to work much longer in Croatia to earn the same living wage you would in Germany or Austria in a month. Croatia also being a member of the EU makes immigrattion very easy and leads to a large portion of the younger population leaving in search of a better life. It's a sad tale, but why would you ever want to live in Croatia, Serbia or Bosnia, when life is just so much better for most people just a few hours of driving, away?
@@vanjagalovic3621 True. As for women in the workplace, we can definitely say that the restauration of capitalism made it considerably worse for them. And we should not neglect the fact that for Western corporations, particularly from Germany and Austria, these countries are areas of exploitation and a pool for cheap labor - which makes economic development even harder on the Balkans. With the well educated leaving disproportionately, it becomes ever harder to build up functioning health, educational and administrative systems. And let's not forget it's often the critical minds who leave, so emigration also worsens chances for serious political change. Several of my friends in Bosnia who were very gifted and highly educated activists in citizens' initiatives have left in the past few years, and the effects on some of their fields of activism are devastating. Some - not all - initiatives and oppostional groups have collapsed. Don't get me wrong: I certainly don't blame anyone for leaving, but the effects of emigration are desastrous and outside the region nobody gives a damn.
Italy lost MILLIONS upon millions to emigration fir a century after it's unification. But, at least, it's population was growing, so it still managed to transition to first world status (now it's very much successfully transitioning into banana republic condition, demography is abysmal AND not the poorest as once, but the best and brightest, are emigrating this time)
@@stefanodadamo6809 Those cases are hard to compare. Italy's population was much larger to begin with. As far as I can tell, the net loss of population in comparison to the overall population did not reach as high proportions over such a long time as we currently see in some countries such as Bosnia, Ukraine or Romania, however. Don't get me wrong, emigration from Italy was huge, with roughly ten million leaving the country for good over the course of 60 or so years. That's one of the biggest migration movements in history. My great-grandfather was one of them, btw. But from the more serious estimates it seems that net migration exceeded one per cent of the population only between roughly 1900 and 1915 - which is a catastrophe in and of itself, but it's not the same as hovering around that benchmark for 30 years. And, as you say, even so, Italy's population was still growing due to high birth rates. The populations of Eastern Europe are shrinking dramatically, as birth rates also have declined after capitalist restauration. Can't imagine what Italy would be like if the same thing had happened there and then.
“Why liberals can’t counter conspiracy theories and why conservatives refuse to question them” would have been a better title. The simple quote from Carl Sagan of, “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence” is one that has always helped me avoid them, seeing as most of them don’t even have mediocre evidence. As well as one from Christopher Hitchens, “That which can be proposed without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.”
Exactly this. Debunking them takes a lot of time because you have to provide research links. People like Jones or RFK don't have to, they just throw out whatever without any evidence; and before you're done debunking the previous bs, they're already onto another.
On the topic of educated migrants, Canada is wack, in that the immigration system (federally)prefers highly educated/trained immigrants, and then the jobs they would go into (doctors, pharmacists...) are provincially regulated and the foreign credentials often arent recognized, requiring them to "retrain" or leave their field. Excessively frustrating while there is widespread doctor and trades shortage. A great video!
BadEmpanada doesn't strike me as one to specialize in that, I think he made this video because it shows a bigger picture than plain conspiracy debunking, which is usually a topic more addressed by milder leftists like Munecat, Folding Ideas or Hbomberguy.

In my late teens (mid 2000's) I fell into the conspiracy crowd and you're completely correct. It's honestly boring how 99% of conspiracy theories are actually just capitalism functioning as intended.

@@heavenwaits A quote attributed to Rosa Luxemburg says: It is a revolutionary act to spell out what is. (Translation my own, there are probably other versions in English as well.) That is as true as when she said it. Today, with DEI and liberal Identitarianism as default ideologies in liberal and liberal left parties, we are told that what's revolutionary is to obscure what is. For one, we are told, there is no "what is". "What is" is a social construct, arbitrary, ephemeral, and, most of all, a weapon of oppression. Reality is only what someone feels. And mind, not everyone, but those on the purported bottom of a purported victim pyramide - save those on the actual bottom of society, because as class is just a figment of imagination, its very idea an instrument of oppression, the poor must really just be imagining they are poor. Or else, they can just identify out of poverty, case closed. We are having entire academic disciplines in the Western world that have been taken over by this antimaterialist and antiscientific mumbojumbo. To be considered progressive, one must hold or at least pretend to hold these convictions. Anyone who refuses to participate in the deliberate obscurement of reality by liberals is labelled a reactionary or a fascist. Now, if the - at least officially - dominant theory in large parts of academia and among the liberal part of the political class, and liberal NGOs is that reality does not exist, is it any wonder that rightwingers find it easy to recruit people into their conspiracy theories?

Given the current political climate in Argentina, I feel like this video is super important and I wish it had Spanish subtitles or even dubbing. The parties here are shuffled in interesting ways but the arguments still work. The current leading presidential candidate is going with Trump's strategy of calling out real problems while proposing insane solutions he clearly won't go through with. And the two main parties fail to counter his points because even the "left wing" populist party is ultimately powered by the status quo and regularly negotiated with multinational corporations to gain and maintain power.
And one he doesn't have to be ashamed of advertising for. (No customer, btw.) He's gotta make a living after all, and sadly enabling people to critically analyze this world to a large audience isn't a public charge.

They're not theorist. More like spoilers to whats coming
8:55 american imperialism. With things like this, its so hard to understand why anybody who supports capitalism can claim a moral high horse.

That's about as optimistic as I can be without seriously deluding myself.
bro limited supply is a fundamental reality and switching up your economic system isn't gonna change that

Man it feels weird to go from whatever the fuck that last stream clip was to Badempanada's high quality main channel content.
Duality of man
Speaking of migration and the desastrous effects it has on countries of emigration: Several Eastern European countries are facing demographic collapse within foreseeable future.
See here for more info about that latter aspect: balkanstories.net/2020/10/09/half-a-democracy/
(Hope you don't consider it spamming.)

Hitchens was a pro-Iraq war fascist. He would absolutely be peddling these same conspiracy theories.
Conspiracy Theories are Spoiler Alerts.
Hitchen was a frickin neocon lmao
Exactly this. Debunking them takes a lot of time because you have to provide research links. People like Jones or RFK don't have to, they just throw out whatever without any evidence; and before you're done debunking the previous bs, they're already onto another.
@@kucingcat8687 you ignored everything he said to latch on to a non-issue, mate. We all know what he was.

Incredible how one internet troll indirectly created an entire cult around a "Dude Trust Me" political narrative.
Alex takes real information and just cranks it up to 100 with insanity, and that’s why I love it. I’d be a little out of my mind if I was the Bohemian Grove guy too.
I remember when john tron and destiny had a debate on migration, when john tron said that migration is only beneficial to the elites and hurts the working class people of the country, instead of destiny saying that it's a systematic issue and we most have a system that benefits the working class of migrants and natives he just said " "but you too are an elite"... and this debate is the reason why debate bros/liberals are very useless in terms of countering neo-n**i ideologies on the Internet
