Im glad this got a rapid fire review. Hearing Alex calmly review goofy games is such an entertaining dynamic. Then you add OJs gameplay to just chef kiss it even further.

I watched this stream and it was so amusing watching Alex and OJ fail miserably on the Japanese Garden part
Alex and OJ seem like awesome, genuine dudes and Aj is lucky to have them as friends.
It feels like they played some of the mini games in Yakuza and said, "what if we also did that but bad."

Alex just needs his own review channel. Him and Other Joe are the only reasons I watch the Angry Joe show, but Alex slightly being my favorite cuz he's generally the most level-headed and critical.
I was heavily looking forward to this game honestly. It really does look like they tried to go for the "it's so bad and good" feel. And honestly that would be alright if the price tag wasn't atrocious
there's a fine line when you try to go "so bad it's good" route, as to not make something that's not enjoyable even in that capacity. from what I've seen since release, Wanted Dead pivots hard into just bad and not fun to play in any sense.

I finished my first play through yesterday and all the points he brings up are mostly bullshit regurgitated from other reviews. if you actually take the time to understand the game mechanics like animation canceling you will have a much better experience. Iv never liked alexs review they are always biased and unfair based on his own closed minded opinions. Try it for yourself.

Holy shit, I just found something amazing out about this game. The developer merged a while ago with Valhalla, the now deceased developer of...Devil's Third. I knew this game looked EERILY like Devil's Third and...yeah its the same people apparently! If you don't know or remember Devil's Third, look it up, its a...treat?

1 - Pay $15 to play all 3 Ninja Gaiden games on game pass.
2 - Buy the Ninja Gaiden trilogy for $40, that's 3 games for $40.
3 - Buy Metalgear Rising for $30, has 3 story campaigns, one each main character.
It's a no brainer.
+1 for Gamepass because you get Wo Long Fallen Dynasty from the actual Team Ninja instead of remnants of whatever this crap game is.

One of the reasons why I like Alex. He's blunt, far too many people blame the CEO's for a games fault when sometimes it's also due to the lack of talented devs.
Sometimes it is the fault of some artless, soulless bureaucrat so disconnected from reality that reality has a restraining order out against them. Who cares about testing!? We'll patch it later! Push it out now or the shareholders'll be frowny! Etc. etc.
But... sometimes the problems *are* because of bad developers, bad design decisions, or both. And no amount of polish or time to refine or bug hunt would ever save the game in question.
I can't say which this is - maybe more time in the oven could have made this work. But... there seems like there are a lot of fundamental design philosophy problems that would need full on overhauls, not just a little extra love.
The game: *is difficult*

i mean sure for these smaller games id say its more of a mix of bad devs and ceos but when battlefield halo or cod releases a bad game its 100% ceos you dont get jobs at the top studios without being the best in the industry

@@DarkEdge1231 Itagaki hasn't made a game since Devil's Third, the people touting that claim for this game are folk who worked with him. In his prime with NG2 and DOA4 being his magnum opus Itagaki was a great creative director, even if he was a sleazy dipshit.
No they didn't. The game even has core game mechanics from Ninja Gaiden (guard cancel) and DOA (depending on your attack state you get different combos out of the guard cancel).
The problem here is most reviewers don't take the time to find 'hidden' game mechanics. Knowing that guys from Ninja Gaiden made this game they could atleast have tried to guard cancel.

@@gatorrade1680 Even if you don't know any tech in ninja gaiden, the game feels good, attacks are committal but they are quick, your movement is smooth as fuck, it's fast paced and the tech only helped to improve that and not be that, I mean take the guard cancel in this game, instead of making something that's fun to do they made a mechanic that's required to have acceptable gameplay, why would people even defend that so you're telling me that if I want the game to be snappy like it should be, I press guard after every fucking attack ? that's not decision making that's being braindead
It's actually a pretty good action game, and I'm amazed how many reviewers are incapable of figuring out how to play it.
Combat is not like DMC or NG - it's more like DOAs.
As in DOA, strikes beat throws, throws beat counters, counters beat strikes.
In WD, strikes beat guns, guns beat parrys, parry beat strikes.
It not about combos, it's about adapting to different enemies/situations, hitting their weak spots and finishing them off quick.
It's not the game's fault if you're playing it wrong.
Wanted: Dead is a game inspired by the PS2 era games so it really fits really well. It's a good game for what it is. It's short and challanging so it's just about right.
People just don't get the fact that this game never tried to be a triple A title or win any awards, it tried to provide a fun and challanging experience that you can play and replay just like God Hand and Ninja Gaiden games.
It's basically devil's third but even worse, dude. It has zero redeeming qualities, and I wouldn't recommend it even if it was free.
What's with these shitty takes comparing it to ninja gaiden? Ninja gaiden actually had masterful combat, amazing weapons and enemies and fun, thought out levels.
This game has none of those and even watching the gameplay you can tell it's a slog. Don't compare it to a masterpiece like ninja gaiden 2 or black.

Hello, I am someone who bought this and loved it. One of my favorite games of all time is Ninja Gaiden 2, and this met my expectations while also doing something different
The combat is great and challenging, but I also didn't sit in the back and shoot everything like you guys seem to have. Once you learn the enemy's patterns, parrying is super rewarding. The variety of finishers are probably the coolest thing after you put in the work to kill each "bullet sponge." If you like John Wick style takedowns, that's what you'll get. After you max out the skill tree and learn the game, you become an unstoppable badass
The humor was ridiculous in a good way. Herzog's jokes, the voice actors, and the general tone of the game outside of the main story is just goofy but I laughed several times. The story was nonsensical, I am absolutely agree. I've beaten it twice and I don't know what it's about
There's also a few live cooking shows hosted by Stefanie Joosten (Vivienne/Gunsmith) that deliver some of the best deadpan comedy I've seen. It's an absolute joy
Overall, no, I wouldn't say it's worth $60. $40 at most, but I think the game is unique, fun, and has a ton of charm. I'm working on my Japanese Hard playthrough now

basically if you love games like Deadly Premonition, No More Heroes and other quirky and strange Japanese games like that then you will enjoy this. Remember that IGN gave Deadly Premonitions a 2/10 and GodHand a 3/10. casual normies will hate this game that is a given
Skill issues... on the developers side. Can't believe they used the "made by Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive ex-employees" to advertise the game, they forgot to specify they were the employees who made coffee for the janitor.

When are developers finally going to realize, that having bullet-sponge enemies in a game just for the sake of having them; isn't fun or innovative.
I'm all for having tough enemies that are both challenging and rewarding, but that's the key; the payout for defeating said enemies needs to be worth the effort and time spent into learning their mechanics.
Elden Ring is a prime example in this instance, the bosses and mini bosses can be absolutely brutal at times but the rewards for beating said bosses are often times better weapons and gear; which leads to the player becoming stronger and better equipped as a result.
I’m not about to watch this review, but don’t listen to this if they say it’s the worst game or a bad game. The game is amazing it’s a throwback to PS3/xbox360 generation slasher game. Play it for yourself it’s fun if you like ninja gaiden, MGS revengeance I bought the steel book version now when it gets cheaper I’ll buy them on Xbox, ps4 for collection.
Honestly surprised this was made by the same devs that made Ninja Gaiden. If felt like they were trying to emulate Yakuzas level of uncanny dialog but failed miserably.
Honestly I think that's just marketing bullshit. When they say it's the devs from Ninja Gaiden, they mean two people who were a part of the team that made Ninja Gaiden. And you can feel that from this game but clearly it wasn't enough.

The game is not a AAA game and it's intended to look like a PS2 era game.
I've seen this stream with them playing the Wanted: Dead game and actually, a lot of times they didn't use the game mechanics at all..
To defeat "spongy enemies" and ninjas you have to use the "bullet time" and other abilities, dodge a lot, be carefull how you use the ammo. The melee it's main way to kill enemies and you have to be really good on the melee part to survive. it's like an Dark Souls game but you have to use sometimes the bullets to survive. That's how was the game designed from the start, to be verry difficult, it's not for everyone and actually it really has the vibe of Ninja Gaiden. You really have to use every mechanic to survive in this game, and i think it was a good game.
The storry and voice acting wasn't bad or borring, sometimes the story and the mini games had the vibes of yakuza games and the gameplay was fun when you understand every mechanic and how to play it, even if sometimes it feels repetitive (that's what i don't like it actually). But in rest it's good, hope we'll have a sequel, maybe better than the first one, and i think it deserves the 60$. I finished it and i've like it.😁
Just don't play it with high hopes of an AAA game, it's an japanese indie game, obviously, it was obvious from the start that thing and don't rush it like Alex did. When you rush a game you'll never enjoy it.
And i've seen all the streamers and reviewers doing this mistakes: not using the all mechanics of the game and trying to finish the game as fast as possible and after that saying that's a bad game :))). So, take the reviews with a grain of salt.

How could those that made Ninja Gaiden screw up this bad? ~looks it up~ Ooooh, that is some convoluted bullshit marketing nonsense there. Soleil Ltd made this game, and they absorbed Valhalla Game Studios a few years ago. VGS was founded by two guys that worked on Monster Rancher (Satoshi Kanematsu), Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive (Tomonobu Itagaki) between them. Let me rephrase that: Soleil Ltd did not make NG or DoA, they just happen to have the guy that created DoA in the company for a short period after acquiring VGS. Itagaki left that same year.
EDIT: Looked into it more and I'm certain that this game was supposed to be a Devil's Third sequel.
While I enjoy Angry Joe getting mad at bullshit in video games, it was really entertaining to hear a really intelligent coherent review on this channel for a change. Way to go Alex and OJ!
How can Alex and the other trash this game when they literally played incorrectly the entire time! I watched them play it and they had no idea, all they did was rush the enemy and get killed. they did no combos and I think they never even parried even once!.

I was actually hyped for this game. The trailers made this look gorey and interesting. Now looking at it, it does look like their paying tribute to the PS2 days, but damn. Was really hoping this could play well, reminded me of another average game Wet haha

It's pretty much a PS2 game at heart. PS2 games had horrible AI and bad camera angles in the beginning. It's almost like you trying to say all PS2 games are bad and didn't age. Now it's like you want copy n paste last of us for every game. Devs can't be different and have different styles anymore these days?

This game is "so bad, it's good" that it somehow makes Ride to Hell: Retribution look like God of War: Ragnarok by comparison.
The best worst stuff is always done with at least some effort and passion (Plan 9 From Outer Space, Troll 2, The Room, the first Birdemic) and not just slapped together with the idea of "Duh, let's just make it bad on purpose!" like they did here. I forget who said, "Anybody can poop in the bed on purpose." but it really fits here.
There actually is genuine talent and heart behind this game. Its flawed too, but has some great stuff like their version of robots (which feels really timely because of recent AI stuff) and the main character acts really cool and above it all but actually has trouble attaching because of her backstory, which she overcomes with the help of her team. Nothing revolutionary but it is definitely fun good stuff and a lot of people would be able to appreciate it if they could see past the flaws. Gameplay is also really good.
BTW, you can cancel movement by blocking, that's how you chain your moves so you can stop dying after trying to slash dudes, this will improve the gaem a lot.

I love how they're showing the cover art from the Xbox when we know they played it on the PC and it's available on PlayStation as well. I bet they would've put up the PS5 box art if it was good

Yea I think that was a lie and that they just used that as a marketing tool, because even though Ninja Gaiden is dogshit, it’s still plays far better and has far more in depth combat than this game

Karaoke & Noodle mini game. Yakuza this ain't. It's like they watched Yakuza gameplay & thought oh look gamers love karaoke let's take that & put it in here for 1 scene. Nope. Yakuza did everything better & only 1 song. Not only that but the songs were original in Yakuza while Wanted Dead only had money to get license for 1 song. Play Ninja Gaiden or DmC. Also looking forward to your Rapid Fire on Like A Dragon Ishin.

Wait so there are alot of people loving this game reminding them of Suda 51 and Ninja Gaiden alittle and You give this a bad ereview and a 3/10. This actually means that you agree with IGN when they gave it a 4/10 and said to not get the game either. Either alot of youtube channels all have bad tastes and IGN and this channel have the better takes or the other youtube reviews on this game all have good tastes and IGN and this channel don't for this game. Abit of a toss up. I guess I'll go with the wait for a sale. I mean this channel has never been the type to support certain game genres or titles so its fine.

It looks and feels like one of those indie hack n slash 30 minute "demos" that pop up on the Steam F2P tab that people throw together with Unity/Unreal for college projects and stuff. Only those usually are fun or have a unique gimmick worth looking at.
This game is absolutely pathetic. $60 for only 8 hours of garbage is unacceptable, especially when there's games like Spongebob: The Cosmic Shake which is only $40 and gives you almost 20 hours worth of actual worthwhile content & Sonic Frontiers which was discounted to only $30 and gives you almost 40 hours worth of content without counting all the fanmade mods.
Why do big name game companies just keep getting worse every year? Especially when smaller teams and companies are putting in all their heart and soul into almost every game they make?
