    I just picked up another 2002 330CI VERT. 221,000 miles, had the original coolant system... the water pump I removed looked like it sunk with the TITANIC!! The power steering pump sounded like a cat being tortured. All 4 shocks were completely blown out. Some people just dont take care of their cars at all. And with excellent videos like this, there is really no excuse to own an E46 that is just "Dogged-out" and neglected.

    Heh I bought E46 in January and after two months radiator broke. So I did my cooling system just this weekend. I did only new radiator, water pump and belts and pulleys. I found out expansion tank was already changed in 2014 and both hoses looked nice and rubbery, so I reused those.
    Funny thing a new radiator didn't fit properly into plastic mounting bracket. I had to use bunch of zip-ties to secure it. And it even was BEHR/HELLA brand not some Chinese ripoff.
    The most painful part of the process was draining the coolant from engine block. That damn drain screw is almost inaccessible.

    Awesome video man. Do you have a stage 3 vid with the internal heater/plastic hoses?

  • @31acruz
    @31acruz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video, suggestion to make it better: you often say "move this way, or pull that way", problem is most the time we don't see your hands, could be anywhere if the camera doesn't catch you hands. Instead train yourself to say this: "pull car-forward or pull car-rearward" that will take care of all "x' (fore and aft, front to rear movement). For "y" or cross car movements train yourself to say it this way: "pull it towards the driver side, or pull towards the passenger side). This way doesn't matter if the camera doesn't show your hands or if you move to quickly or too little, the audio direction is very clear and we then we know what you mean to say.

    Can Anyone Tell Me If The E46 Expansion Tanks and Hoses That Are On Amazon or Ebay Come With The O-Rings???

    • @superdjmarc
      @superdjmarc 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Got mine from Europarts. O Rings are plastic and part of the expansion tank. It would not connect.Kept leaking.
      I took expansion tank holding bracket off of the radiator into m bathtub and tested the connection there. The new one kept leaking. I wasn’t paying BMW £96. I tested the original one and no leaks.
      The key was TESTING outside of the car in a controled environment.
      I used the original expansion tank with the new sensor and it is not leaking now. Works fine.

I'm searching FCP Euro and they have multiple such as Rein, Saleri, Vaico, etc. I know the most recommended is BMW Genuine but the difference in price for something such as a water pump is almost double the price. I replaced most coolant parts except thermostat and expansion tank, and those both failed at 130K. Expansion tank leaked out all coolant and almost over heated the engine. Also replaced front control arms, and had vacuum leaks from failed rubber. Car also burns and leaks out. Don't buy if you can't work on them yourself! AWD is very good.

    • @ShopLifeTV

      If you get overwhelmed with all the bolts and parts you can lay them out with their designated bolts in the order you removed it. Ive been doing this for a while now so I usually remember where everything goes but I understand that it can get confusing if you are just starting out. Thanks for watching!

    Awesome video. Excellent information about E46 BMW my friend. It seem like you have a solid knowledge about the E46 BMW. Just found out most of your videos. Very clear and to the point. Love it. Keep doing the good work. I have the same car like your, M56 motor 325Ci 2004 and would like to swap out the engine due to piston rings go out and start to burning oil as well leaking oil. It has almost 250k miles on it. My questions is, do you have a video how to removed/replaced this M56 motor? I just bought the M56 engine from junk yard and would like to install myself with the help of a friend. Other question, is it possible to swap M56 motor to M54 motor? What else do I need if it can be swaped? Thank you and please reply.
    Just subscribed to your videos 😁👍

    • @ShopLifeTV
      @ShopLifeTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate the support! As far as m56 to m56 its straightforward just like the m54 replacement, only difference would be the fuel line connection. Now with the m56 to m54 swap is possible but not technically legal since the vin would still register as a sulev model. The fuel lines would all need to be replaced as would the fuel tank. The wiring would be a little different as well as the tune on the ecu. The ecu is ms45 which can be reflashed with a normal m54 tune as well. Id recommend buying a m54 car instead unless you have sentimental value with the m56 car.
