    Done a similar distance in mine and it really is as good as you say. My complaint is that the paint is not tough enough, but with a front bumper that reasonably priced it could easily be replaced after around 3 years. Best car I've ever had, and by quite a margin. Glad to see you've now got the best colour combination ;)

    Being in the US, I love my 2023 model Y long range vehicle which I just recently picked up from Tesla. The features this vehicle has are amazing and still learning many of them. My model Y vehicle came with HW4 and the newer cameras.
    The model Y gives me plenty of storage space, Dual motor AWD, single pedal driving, and the seating front and back have plenty of room for all of us. Being retired, the vehicle is mainly for around town driving, short single charge trips, and do home charging which takes no time at all to charge from 70 to 90 percent most the time. I do not plan at this time to get the EAP or FSD addon driving options. The basic Auto Pilot should be good enough for me right now - if so desired, I can always buy the other modes of driving.
    Nice to have the Sentry and dashcam modes. I only turn them on when I am out driving around and parking at different locations. I turn them off when back home. Still debating whether I want to keep the Premium connectivity for all the added screen extras. I mainly listen to the radio and never have time to do the streaming or internet features, too busy driving. Do I really need the great graphical maps - not sure yet, haven't really used them yet.
    Thanks for your video review and take care.

    @LysanderLH ปีที่แล้ว

    Worth mentioning that tyres wear faster in EVs due to weight. The cost to replace four 20” eg. Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is over £1,000! That’s necessary expenditure about every two years doing average mileage. For example, my 2021 M3LR has done 25,000 miles and there’s about 1mm of legal tread left in the MPS4s. So keeping the car for five years (above average) would cost over £2,000 in tyres for a 20” wheel size. Weighing that cost against a new non EV, makes a huge difference to budgeting, especially as we have less servicing costs.
    We’re selling our Tesla and will wait until the 2024 MY is released before considering buying another EV.

      most of the complaints come from body alignment issues that is almost more of an art than a science. All model wise now have a cast for your chassis that dramatically improves alignment since all the 70 parts that used to be in the rear chassis are now cast in one piece. People complaining about Tesla model Y problems were mostly cosmetic with paint fit and finish and I will be the first one to admit that Tesla is not the best in that department however as far as drivetrain is concerned no one is even close. Give me a good drivetrain and the hell with the paint because I will not notice a slight difference in gaps From day today but I sure will notice a powertrain that is ugly to drive.

    • @DerekDavis213
      @DerekDavis213 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@colingenge9999 You ask for a good drivetrain? How about good suspension? Model 3 and Y have the cheap, rough, coil suspension. Many owners complain about a rough ride on less-than-perfect road surfaces.
      Also, Full Self Driving is 4 years late, and *nowhere* *near* working as promised. What about the people that spent $10,000 or $12,000 on this option, which has turned out to be basically FRAUD?

    • @colingenge9999
      @colingenge9999 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DerekDavis213 I test drove a BYD last week which had a very comfortable suspension but compared to my model three long range that soft suspension made me very nervous. I feel very well connected to the road with the test suspension and have fun my car into traffic circles with maximum acceleration on the exit that would be terrifying for any passenger because of the speed but the car has never put a wheel wrong in my experience.
      I am no expert in handling about four years of driving a Tesla model S and now a model three has provided absolute stability to say nothing of a fairly advanced accent avoidance system that has save me a couple of times. I would refer you to “out of spec reviews“ where are the author appears to have a professional level of understanding of suspensions. He has talked is veerers through a circuit of Nuremberg Ring with five people in the car always under perfect control. He says that the model three performance has the finest and best suspension of any vehicle in his price range and easily beating the more expensive BMW electric in virtually every way except possibly the brakes which under track conditions could use an upgrade that is easily available.
      I’m not sure why you are choosing to bring up another topic such as Tessa‘s full self driving in order to cast a dark shadow upon Tesla. If you follow self driving software you will recognize that it is an application that appears relatively easy at first but when you get into the edge cases you find that it may be one of the most complex problems to solve Perhaps on the level of finding a cure for cancer or making the perfect nuclear reactor. There are several autonomous driving systems being used in Phoenix and in San Francisco that are Geo fenced but no one has an open application that is capable of driving anywhere including secondary roads, driveways and so on. I agree that Elon was overly optimistic in the initial iterations of full self driving and also agree that charging $6000 and $12,000 now $15,000 is probably outrageous but for certain applications such as Robo taxis, that $6000 which people paid initially might turn out to be a massive bargain. I know that some buyers are disappointed that most people know that Elon is a serious individual that is not purposely trying to scam people which is more than I can say for most corporate CEOs.
      You can choose to be a hater of Tesla if you want but it’s undeniable that without that company entering the electric vehicle space, They would not be a race among every major manufacturer to see if they can catch up. Fact is that they started 10 years behind Tesla and no one has yet made a car as good as what test I was putting out a decade ago by any significant measure. Other people that respect test of the most are the CEOs of Volkswagen and Ford that are trying their best to even be in the running or to even make a car that they can break even on. Meanwhile Tesla has become the most profitable car company in the world Because they’ve engineer the heck out of every aspect of their car including the Tesla supercharger Netwerk that everyone agrees is vastly superior to anything else that has been offered.

    • @DerekDavis213
      @DerekDavis213 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@colingenge9999 Anyone that has a science or tech background knows right away that Full Self Driving is an enormously difficult problem to solve, especially when Elon Musk decided to abandon Radar/Lidar sensors and only use the cheap made-in-China video cameras on the Tesla 3 and Y. If Full Self Driving is 99% effective, that is *NOT* *GOOD* *ENOUGH* . You cannot trust your life to a car that has sub-standard and primitive self-driving computers.
      I'm not so much casting a 'dark shadow' but rather pointing out the Elon Musk is guilty of lies and hype, for *YEARS* now. Anything Tesla says cannot be trusted. The quality of Tesla has been so bad, customers have filed a class-action lawsuit against the company. Also, people that need service or repairs of Tesla vehicles have had long frustrating waits, compared to service you would get for a Honda or Toyota for example.
      And by the way, Tesla certainly *DOES* *NOT* engineer the heck out of every part of their car. In the Model 3, you can't even manually open the doors from the inside of the car without risking damage to the car! Also, the car is supposed to unlock automatically when you walk up with your bluetooth-enabled cell phone. MANY people have reported problems with this, the unlock function is *unreliable* and *inconsistent* . Also, the Tesla air-conditioning system is known to produce mold and foul smells in the car. A Honda or Toyota do not have this problem.
      Also, the onboard music and entertainment system is very buggy, even today in August of 2022. I could go on and on.

    I test drove the Model Y last week in Bristol (I am an ID4 owner), delivery date was quoted as November. They offered me nearly what I paid for my ID4 in part exchange. Sadly the car was too "sporty" with harder suspension and a lot more power for my wife, the seats were uncomfortable for me (too much lumbar support), I was glad to get back in the ID4 and switch on my massage seats. I must be getting old...........

      I have my Model Y for 2 month and 5000 km now. I had a severe motorcycle accident 1 year ago with 4 fractured vertebrae (among other things) and one reason for the Y are the excellent seats. I have driven the ID4 before deciding on the Tesla and didn’t like the seats at all. So, like everything else a matter of taste and preference.

    • @johnmckay1423
      @johnmckay1423 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had P100D as a loan car while my 2020 M3P was in for repair a couple of weeks ago. The S is much quieter and noticably faster (when in ludicrous or ludicrous+ mode). However the 3 (and I'd assume the Y) felt so much tighter and more agile. On UK roads the S also felt very big. It's much easier and more satisfying to drive quickly in the 3. The S felt like a saggy old bus in comparison - although the S probably wins on passenger comfort.
      In my opinion, the 3/Y feels better engineered, but I'd definitely recommend a test drive.

I've just had my Y for 5 days and I'm seeing 100miles range disappear for only 50 miles driving.... and that is around town no motorway or dual carriageways but with AC permanently on. is there a problem with the car I'm thinking?

      Climate always on auto! Always. Crikey I’m not going to sit there cold or hot! Plentiful range to have it however you want it.

      @Garfy62 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @RSymons RSEV hi. Really appreciate the response. First Tesla but my 3rd EV…. And yes, so far it’s been lots of short journeys… no more than 10miles each and all ‘city’. Generally I thought this was better in an EV and the hated the motorway 70mph trips as really drains the power. Is the Tesla different in this way? Ta.

  • @maxflight777

    Sentry mode, as Richard described is excellent. However I rarely use it because it drains the battery quite quickly.
    The time it would be most useful, perhaps an airport car park… is the most challenging, because you risk 20% SOC when you return from your vacation.

    The only "complaint" I would have is the center wheel column, it could have an air conditioner passthrough stand for a center wheel screen that has the speed, turn signal indicator, cruise control set speed , warnings for proximity while parking, acceleration and regeneration settings , battery and range level , active and normalized consumption and overall sound volume , so if you want to play something it will not start at maximum volume by surprise. But what i wish for the next year , the 2024 model and onward to have , are aor suspension and air line outlet for pumping the tires or air mattrises with dual settings of either volume or pressure , and an automated two level sun roof cover of 50% mesh and 100% refpector with insulated bottom for burn avoidance, and maybe window 50% mesh that can also be used as insect (mosquitos) shield for camping and for insect filled areas where you want natural air from the windows, using the same 50% mesh from the sun roof, but having it reinforced with spider pattern wire that makes children unable to rip it apart.

      range is an issue at first but you soon grow to accommodate it and notice that you effortlessly charge your card home and always have enough range to get anywhere you want to go. If you plan a road trip Tesla lead you to the super charging station where again you can effortlessly charge while you take a rest but every time I’ve done that the car is always ready before I am.
