- During the opening of the season for the TV show "Last Man Standing", ham operators take to the airwaves with a special event station and I was able to make a couple contacts with them. The station used is the actual set up that appears as a prop on the show located right on set.

Thanks Luis! Fun to do.
nice set up
Ok on that, keep an eye out for it, if you see it, the ham station can be seen in the background once in a while with real qsl cards from real hams on the wall.
Thanks, it works out well for me..
Thanks for the nice comment, thanks and 73!
I did mine a little different since I wanted to switch the on air light also, so I wired my ptt into a relay and then from the relay into EQ Plus box that actually keys the radio from there. But if you just want to add a PTT to the Kenwood, you can use any switch that you like to use and just wire it right into the PTT line of the front mic jack along with your regular mic, or I would have to check but I think the rig also has PTT available on a jack on the back, that would be good too.
Yes it is, I think I got mine around that time also, the other radio is a Kenwood TS-440.
thanks!
Yes on the mic, for the PTT I am using a hand switch that I made myself but I also have the foot switch I can use.
Love your radio console. 73's K2ADC
Great gear! W0XS
I had a TS-440 but it came down with the dots problem twice so I ditched it for a FT-840.
I got the rack panels from a place called Novex, not sure if he is still doing those or not but maybe do a search on Novex rack mount and something should come up.
Best place to start out is checking out the ARRL website, they have a lot of info there for anyone interested in starting out. arrl.org is what you can look for and it should come up. You will have a lot of fun with ham radio!
Love the setup Where did you get the rack mount that is holing in your Yaesu? and what is holding it into your rack? You have inspired me to build a new setup. 73s KB1VNR
like a boss..
Hi Larry does you have an other video from this 19“ Zoll wooden shack? I would like to be able to recreate it, do you have any plans?
Hi, I had this built for me from a sketch I did back in the 90s and don't have any idea if I have that around somewhere or not, have not seen it in years I guess. I did model it after commercial rack mount desks for law enforcement at the time so I followed my measurements from brochures I got from those companies at the time. Sorry I can't help you more, it does work well but this was before computer screens where common so unless you like looking up at screens this is not good for those.
Hello
I wanted to inquire how long it took you to create and develop your station looks pretty fancy. I'm impressed with it. I live in Redding CA and plan on taking my tech license exam In January. And hopefully a year from now I'll have my General license. I wanted to know if u could give me an idea of how much of a financial investment is literally required to have a station like yours....I assume costly based upon your equipment I see. Might used to work in Television production and can guess equipment is pretty costly
Hello Larry. This is KC0PDR. I was just wondering how you made your PTT switch for your radio? I'm thinking about making a PTT switch for my Kenwood TS 440S . And was just looking for some ideas on how to go about it. Thanks Larry.

Hi there! I rally like your "shack" Where did you get the funiture for the radios? I really nice way to rack mount them!
Lars!
Hi Lars, I did a basic design years back and had a buddy that was good at woodworking build it up for me, has worked out well for me. Using standard 19 inch rack mount panels.
Shit! I don't have any friends.... just kidding I guess I can order from a carpenter or perhap buy a rack for studios!. Thanks for nice videos I am new and learning a lot.
Best regards Lars
Are you using a Heil Goldline & a foot switch?
how about a shack tour Larry?
Thanks for the suggestion, I sure do need to do a new one since it has been a while and things have changed in the last couple years! I will see if I can get that done here.
where can i study for my license?
