Man oh man you remember how bad some of the earlier prototypes were lol they seem to have hammered it down tooth and nail officially now , good for them
Cleetus mcfarland had that happening on the supra a few weeks ago from memory, jackstand marked the tyre and rim, and after each pass the line was further around, to the point it was about 1/4 turn on the rim by the end of the video
Definitely the biggest safety feature in that tire. They have to keep them underinflated so the tire is incredibly stretchy allowing the car to get immense grip and road contact. If those were completely full and stout, it would be disasterous if the car started bumping. And one bad bump could make the car very unstable and possibly send it rocketing toward the crowd.
There not under inflated, instead they have two crumble walls that are made for better breaking acceleration and it allows them to grow in diameter when moving
You can see that the tire jumped causing a lack of traction and if you look in the distance the car in lane 2 the wheelie bar is almost in aligned with the car in lane 1. That is crazy what a fraction of a second from a wheel spin can cause you!
No one and I do mean no one expects the sound and feel of top fuel go down the strip for the first time amazing I took my son at age 10 he is 27 now he was hooked
Could one say that the rear axles and wheels are the only thing connecting the engine to the ground? Thus they act as torsion springs since anything in between like a transmission would snap like a twig.
I'd figure on dirt tire one side wall be harder rubber with opposite outside wall be drag racing soft. I'd like to see nhra top fuel add another drive axle to the cars 🤔
40 would be a little much for a car some heavier cars like a crossover car would use almost 40 larger trucks vans use 50-70 lbs front 50 or 60 and the rear 70 lbs of air ..some trailers like usual trailers boat trailers best put over 80 lbs all around if its a 14 ply tire you can go up to 100 lbs
It's not a bad tire all it is that they deflated the tires so they get a better hookup so the tire don't spin and lose control that's all you just don't know what your talking about.
@@Vinnay94 it’s not just the torque as the clutch design on those cars slip significantly on launch, even lower power cars do that when drag racing as when the tire flexes and wrinkles like that it dramatically increases the contact path of the tire

They dropped the motor to tire to the straightway, a dumb a** friend of mine I've explained. I'm no, they keep the tires low like that. But when it's spent to stand them up in a grip better.
At this point they might as well make the tires sprockets for a chain down the track. There is no point to this sport anymore other than seeing who slipped less.
Interesting how everyone goes on and on and on about how IC engines are dead etc but electric technology will never reach this level… not in our lifetime anyway… the IC engine is king
Goodyear definitely has it figured out in drag racing. They still struggle to this day to make a decent circle track tire.

It's supposed to do that they are crumple tyres they don't pump that much air into them so they do that, for more grip
Before bead locked rims, the rims would spin in the tires before they grip the track

That’s insanity! Thank you for the very unique perspective.
That’s why I love 410 winged sprint cars you get to watch wheels fold over like this and it last way longer but not too long like a nascrap race.
Torque is not measured in pounds, either pound foot or newton meter
That’s in the cars movie
That legit gave me goosebumps

what ply are those tires?
Actually changes the gear ratio, the variance between sunk and flared puddle at high speeds
Takes incredible power to make those tires look like a soft balloon.
Incredible torque, and they are intentionally underinflated. Its a safety thing where it gets more grip on the road and prevents bouncing.
No one and I do mean no one expects the sound and feel of top fuel go down the strip for the first time amazing I took my son at age 10 he is 27 now he was hooked
Torque is actually only around 8500 lb/ft, not 10,000. HP is north of 11,000.
The torque is more like 7000 lb ft actually. But regardless, that is absolutely extreme torque.

The reason why the tires look so squishy is that goodyear put soft tires to prevent wheelspin because hard tires may slip alot in 10000hp.
this video show how good Good Year tire grip really is. Even the tire canot held the momentum with that much grip🤯
show them how the force turns the tires almost square like in the middle of the race! that still blows my mind
How does the thing hold.together man
I thought the thumbnail was depicting some catastrophic failure...
there super sticky like rubber glue traps, and the ground sinks also cuz its covered in years of burned rubber
Could one say that the rear axles and wheels are the only thing connecting the engine to the ground? Thus they act as torsion springs since anything in between like a transmission would snap like a twig.
They do. And the tires get bigger down the track because of the centrifugal force, so they act a bit like a stepless transmission

When having a flat tire is not a bad thing.
Fun fact them drag tires are actually designed to do that, kinda interesting

Horse power of torque...
What pressure is the tyre inflated to?
depends tbh
some say it's between 6-10 psi, the one i remember best is 25 psi and some idiots say it's 40 psi.
it's likely around 10-20 though
40 would be a little much for a car some heavier cars like a crossover car would use almost 40 larger trucks vans use 50-70 lbs front 50 or 60 and the rear 70 lbs of air ..some trailers like usual trailers boat trailers best put over 80 lbs all around if its a 14 ply tire you can go up to 100 lbs
No way would it be anywhere near 40! Even 25 seems like too much.
I run 42 on my 4x4 😆
Would be a good good year ad for good year racing. No edits needed
So Thats How SlickTires Works
The warping is intentional, provides more grip at launch
You haven't got a clue.
Well they also don't fill the entire tire with air so it can have better grip on the road
Its all about AAA Texas
low air pressure ran in tire so it collapse for more grip on take off
Why isnt the shaft or axle breaking

I agree

So the wheelie bar just stops the tire from folding over its self ?
And helps the axles live a lot longer.
Also helps that there is only 5 psi of pressure in the drive tires lol
Ahh, now it makes a little more sense.
Exactly. There's so much torque that the tires need to be flat, otherwise the Car would just do a burnout.

They make around 10,000 HORSEPOWER not foot pounds of torque. They make about 7,000-8,800 foot pounds of torque.
