Fun Fact: "Sonne" was originally written as an entrance song for the boxer Vitali Klitschko. "Klitschko" was also working title for this song. That's why there's the 1-9 count and "Aus" meaning "Out".
Also, when it comes to Rammstein, even while reading the lyrics, the meaning of their songs isn't always immediately clear. They often use a great deal of symbolism.

Background story: the music was originally written for a boxer's entrance on the ring, but the boxer didn't like it. Rammstein recycled the project and added lyrics. The original Sonne clip was about nuclear war. The band members are sitting in the cockpit of the Enola Gay, on their way to Hiroshima. Here comes the sun: we are bringing nuclear fire to your city. They count 1 to 10, from the moment the nuke is released to the moment it explodes (in real life it took 43 seconds). The project was abandoned, Rammstein thought it might be misinterpreted and hurtful for japanese survivors. When they perform this song live and you hear heavenly voices, the band kneels: they pray for the victims of the bomb. Since they abandoned the project out of respect for Japan, they turned the video clip into a twisted version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, but didn't change the lyrics, that are still in the context of a nuclear bombing.

    • @Ericsaidful
      @Ericsaidful หลายเดือนก่อน

I wonder if the would’ve prayed for the hundreds of thousands to millions more who would’ve died in a land invasion. The bomb, ironically, saved lives and the threat of nuclear was, ironically, continues to save lives.
Europe was in a state of perpetual war until the end of World War 2. Insert nukes, insert peace.
It is what it is, but to assume the world would be a better place without nukes is misguided.

Hi Stacey, as a German I must congratulate you. That pronunciation of "Sonne" was 99.9% spot on high German. Attribute it as a dialect from somewhere and nobody who heard only that word would doubt it was a native speaker. With the vast number of dialects among the German speakers there's 100% someone who'd pronounce it your way. 👍👍

RustyDust commented it correctly for common German. Slangs & dialects differ a lot. For example in the lower Franconian dialect, Sonne is spoken Sun, u like the oo in moon. Singers, who sing in German, anyway, which style, opera, pop or rock, emphasize more the vowels, than in spoken German. So, the o & e in Sonne are spelled shorter in spoken German than in Till's vocals.

this is probably a more accurate representation of the original Grimm tale of snow white, rather than the mainstream version that was pumped out by Disney.
German pronunciation is very different to english/american. i tend to use google translate a lot as you get the proper pronunciation of words.
one track I love to see people react to is "Mein Teil" and also "Puppe" for Mein Teil, i would suggest the hurricane festival 2013 (its on YT) and pretty much any version of Puppe that is from the euro tours 2022/2023, or 2024 if it gets on here.

Hi Stacy, you're doing well 🌹I live in Belgium, just next to Germany the homeland from Ramstein... This band is extraordinairy, the sound is great and the lyricks are overwhelming deep and psychologically... Sonne means SUN 🙃 and the song reflect all possible influences the sun has on this panet and human beings... Basically their music is sofisticated, simple but still comprehensive... Good lucj with your channel ❤

Finding Rammstein for me was a happy accident back in 1997. They had just released their second album Sehnsucht and I picked it up from Rock of Ages record store (for you younger folks it's where we got music before streaming music online was a thing). I bought it because Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar was sold out. I put the CD in my CD player in my truck, and I was instantly a Rammstein fan. Of course it wasn't until their third album Mutter came out that I heard Sonne, but by then I had their first album from 1995 Herzeleid and I was a rock solid fan for life 🤘😁

Yeah, first time I saw them was back in 1995 as special guest of Project Pitchfork. Nobody knew them and my biggest mistake was to stand in front of the stage.

Till is singing in what we would call "Stage-German" with a pronounciation that can be heard and understood in a large theatre without amplification. We normally don't roll Rs that heavily and we tend to be a little more sloppy all around.

Their Song Rosenrot is also a Video based of Grimms fairytales and it does not disapoint either ;) Same vibe PS: The vocals you find haunting here at the end are the piano instrumental at the end of their song Deutschland in the credits ;)

Are you keeping a secret from us??? That's you playing *Snow White* is it not?? tee hee!! So beautiful. 😍
The original tale is in a 19th-century collection of fairy tales written in German by the Brothers Grimm, who also wrote Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Rumplestiltskin. The Brothers Grimm published their book in 1812, featuring the story of Sneewittchen (Snow White). If you've ever watch the *TV series GRIMM* It points out that, a lot of their stories were re written for a younger audiences.

I recommend the band *The Gathering* and their song *Travel* (featuring the unique voice of Anneke van Giersbergen), preferably live from TG25: Doornroosje. Have a great time, see ya!

Most people don’t know that another idea for a music video was the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima... Paul Landers (Riff) Interview MTV Masters, Germany 2001. The idea was that the band would be the crew of the plane that would drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima in 1945. During the chorus the mushroom cloud of the explosion would be shown. It would then go on to show the conflict of the band, and how they were able to drop the bomb, knowing that people down there died a horrible death. nice Reaction, greetings from Germany❤

Snowwhite is said to be based on a true story located in the Siebengebirge, seven mountain range.the dwarfs were real you still can visit their tiny Zwergenhäusle in Germany. They weren't small people, their real story is very sad.

Hi Stacey! Do you remember this theme from the piano part at the end of the "Germany" video? This is where it has its origins! I think you should seize the next opportunity and see the band live on the next tour in the States. You should keep in mind that Till is already 60 years old. And I don't think (as much as you might like to) that you want to fly to Europe specifically for that... Greetings from Germany
