  • Some people can't handle the truth, but today I dish it out cold. There are 2 main reasons you succumb and quit every fat diet and there is a genuine reason why just exercising more or going to the gym more won't bring you sustainable results. I'll lift the lid on the fitness industry BS and educate you on where best you can allocate your effort for maximal returns, enjoy!
The calorie calculator can be used here: www.jamessmithacademy.com/mac...
Here's what Chat GPT says about the benefits of losing fat:
Fat loss can have numerous health benefits for individuals who are overweight or obese. Some of the most significant benefits include:
Reduced risk of chronic diseases: Excess body fat is linked to an increased risk of chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and some types of cancer. Losing weight can reduce the risk of these diseases and improve overall health.
Improved cardiovascular health: Losing weight can improve cardiovascular health by reducing blood pressure, improving cholesterol levels, and decreasing the risk of heart disease.
Better sleep: Excess weight can lead to sleep apnea, a condition that interrupts breathing during sleep. Losing weight can reduce the severity of sleep apnea and improve sleep quality.
Improved joint health: Carrying extra weight can put strain on the joints, leading to conditions such as osteoarthritis. Losing weight can reduce joint pain and improve mobility.
Improved mental health: Losing weight can improve self-esteem and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Better immune function: Excess weight can impair immune function, making individuals more susceptible to infections. Losing weight can improve immune function and reduce the risk of infections.
Overall, losing weight can improve physical health, mental health, and quality of life for individuals who are overweight or obese.
Hope you found the video helpful.

Dude, this video caused an epiphany for me. I "suddenly" gained about 50 lbs 8 years ago and I've been trying to lose it by adding a workout and cutting calories ever since. Long story short, after watching your video I realized my weight gain happened within 2 years of my divorce and my kids going off to college. I went from caring for a family of 4 in a 5 bed home to caring for myself in a 1 bed condo. I just move a lot less now outside of exercise! My daughter has also been complaining about gaining weight, and because of your video I was able to tell her that it's because she went from working events to a WFH desk job. Thank you SO much.

Accountability is a foreign concept to a lot of people. At least, as far as weight is concerned. I say this having lost over 50lbs of fat in the last 15ish months while building a solid bit of muscle weight training.
It's true that it's easier for some than others, and we all have a different relationship to food, but it astonishes me the mental gymnastics a lot of fat people go to in order to avoid admitting that they're just not ready to make changes. It's like fine, look, you don't have to want to try and move toward a healthier weight, but stop acting like it's out of your control; It isn't. Be. Accountable.

When I exercise regularly (e.g. weight lifting for 45 minutes 3 times a week) my eating habits change a lot without putting in much conscious effort. I stop craving junk food and my appetite goes down despite needing a bit more energy overall. I think this is the general experience from what I've read and heard.
When exercise is recommended for weight loss, I'd like to see the effect on appetite as the main reason. If you start thinking about the extra calories you burn through exercise and how low that number is, you'll just end up disappointed or overexert yourself and get depressed and discouraged.

It took me trying to gain weight to finally realize why I could never successfully lose weight.
I was always fair active but would constantly yo-yo diet. Eventually, I fell of the bandwagon completely and gained 150lbs
I underwent a bariatric procedure, and lost a tremendous amount of weight to the point where my surgeon asked me to try to gain some weight.
So I dialed back my workouts and ate a little bit more. I felt super energetic throughout the entire day, way better. Step on the scale, and I actually lost weight.
And it finally freaking clicked. I had more energy and was running around all day long.
All those years, I would busy my ass in the gym and then spend the rest of the day half passed out on the couch and starving.
No wonder I could never maintain. Work out to strengthen the heart and the body. But NEAT is how you lose weight and keep it off.
It took me decades of trying different diets and workouts and life altering surgery to figure it all out. I hope somebody reads this, and doesn’t have to learn the lesson the same way I did.

Dropped down to 1 healthy meal a day (mostly, but not religiously), drinking plenty of water and walking more. Seeing massive results, but no idea exactly how much I've lost because I'm just trying to make it sustainable, and sustainable for me doesn't mean living on the scales, or staring at a spreadsheet all day, it's just getting on with my life. When I've dropped down to a weight where I feel like hitting the gym, I'll probably start some training. Love your no crap approach, James - I've been taken in by the people you speak of in the past and it never did squat, and it wasn't until I saw this video a couple of months ago that I realised the NEAT stuff is far more important.

This man is 100% correct...and in nowhere is he wrong. Mr. Smith is a breath a fresh air. I learned that walking 3 X 30 minutes per day for a total of 90 minutes, was the KEY to getting lean. That level of movement not only burns lots of calories, but it gets your blood sugar levels under control, which makes you crave less food and sugar. 90 minutes of walking per day also gets Leptin and Ghrelin hormones in the brain functioning in top form with helps with hunger and satiety signaling from the brain.......which along with controlled blood sugar, makes healthy eating more doable and fun. Cheers to this channel and to James Smith.

It was definitely the method, and not the fact that they cut out that half loaf of bread and that 800 calories from their diet, that they have previously eaten, every single day.

My bully’s name was Sam among others, he, in particular was the worst …he pushed me off my bicycle and took his hand and grabbed me by the back of my head and shoved my face in the dirt. It was truly the most humiliating experience of my life. I got up praying nobody saw thinking that I must be a horrible person for someone this popular in our school to do this to me. I never told a soul until just now. It never leaves you when someone does that …you build your life around it subconsciously but usually you become successful and they turn out to be losers. Lol Karma is😅 a bitch.

My bullies names were Sarah, Michelle, and Hannah. Nowadays, and 1000 miles away, I have 2 friends named Sarah and Michelle. Funny how that works.

Just from an education standpoint, I really love your use of the weights to give a visual of how calories are expended. It's quite effective.

Man, you are amazing. I wish everyone in the world (especially the USA) would listen to you!!!
I have been watching my calories but also making a concerted effort to keep moving all day. Having an active dog helps lol. It’s working! That’s all it takes! ❤

This is why my fitbit that I got for Christmas was the best gift ever. I could see with my own two eyeballs, how depressingly few calories exercise burns. This is also why I lost weight during Christmas in the US, while I wasn't eating great. Because it was my first cold Christmas, and I was going for walks, cleaning the house etc. Versus me in Seychelles, doing the same workouts, eating healthier, I gained weight. Because it's so flippen hot on this island, that I wouldn't come out of my room.
That daily activity of sweeping the floors, doing the washing, making the bed.. it all adds up!

its crazy when you think about it! people pay silly amounts of money to be told eat less move more in fancy words or sometimes just complete lies, seen so many clients of pts looking the same month in month out and getting annoying with why they cant progress..... newest one i heard when you drive in the car you store fat in your stomach because your sat down 🤦 i just point people to your videos... to the point and what people really need to hear 👌
