I own all of Derryl's dvds and books and I think they are such an immense wealth of information for any level guitarist. There is enough material to keep anyone busy for many years. The best purchase of my life was Derryls lesson bundle

I don't know what brand he uses but the basics are:
bridge pickup, guitar tone turned right down, overdrive medium to high, overdrive tone medium to low, reverb, delay. He's probably using a bit of compression and a noise gate too. Amp treble and bass turned low.
    It's probably an adaptation of Allan Holdsworth's sound e.g. : watch?v=BafYy-YJdcw

Thanks Derryl. This is a great concept. Unfortunately, my arthritic fingers can no long stretch from A,C,D on the low E string with enough speed to get back to the E on the A string and then G on the D string. For a long time I have been using a 3-2-3-2-3-2 for major pentatonic that works easily for me. i.e.
    E (GAB)
    A (DE)
    D (GAB)
    G (DE)
    B (GAB)
    E (DE)(G)
It gives good range, and is even easier with EADGCF tuning.

I think this is the same 'trick' that Shawn Lane was using, although I am not sure, I think he was talking about it in some video here on youtube.

Does anyone know what the "RRLLC" mnemonic refers to, regarding the 3nps?

    • @XgamersXdimensions

Nick Markos Check out his “Pentatonic transformation videos”. He describes 3NPS Pentatonics and this mnemonic to memorize the Pentatonics in all 5 positions.
