I've seen this video many times and as of yet, it never fails to give me goose bumps. Chris wears so many influences right on his sleeve but he has a way of making it truly his own. Oh to have such an amazing and distinguishable sound/voice at such a young age. He deserves accolades in spades.
Amazing playing, you can really hear the John Mayer/SRV influence in this solo. Great stuff, thanks Levi! Love your patreon, I became a member last week. Awesome teacher guys!
If it were still the 70s, Chris would be a multimillionaire. He's so much into tradition of those fine British blues rock guitarists! His phrasing is absolutely outstanding, I massively adore this young man. And yes, I'm an old blues rocker from the 70s who knows what he's talking about.
@user-ku2oy2df7m which part of this solo is "too busy"? Timestamp some specific examples. This isn't anything busier than what you'd find on Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore, with the exception of maybe one bar - so no, I don't think you know what you're talking about, you've simply thrown a grumpy boomer knee-jerk reaction out there.
Thank you again, Levi! Bringing us great solos from great players is a labor of love and you are a truly gifted transcriptionist. Appreciate your hard work and dedication!
Never heard of this guy, but it is great. I get a Derek Trucks kind of vibe, without the slide of course. Glad to know this kind of playing is still around. Beautiful.
There's so much feel in Chris's solos... He obviously has the technical chops, but like David Gilmour, he definitely knows how and when to hit the *right* note as well as to let a phrase 'breath'. Thát is rare. His tone is second to none as well. I do so hope he gets recognition from a far wider audience than already enjoys currently, but he might be born in the wrong time / decade....
This is the kind of playing I love, do appreciate the skill of the shredders but they don't give me goosebumps if you all know what i mean. Thanks for posting.
I still find it so cool to see how much Chris has developed. I still think of him as the guy who looked like Slash, playing infront of his Arsenal poster doing his stuff practically note for note. I'm a big Slash fan, but I prefer, post Slash covers, found his voice Chris Buck. Super soulful, very melodic, sensitive, dynamic, grab you right by the feels kind of player. Awesome. Fantastic guitarist. 👌😎😎
This is years ago…. This is SRV inspired (life without). Chris has developed massively since this and now is very much has his own distinctive sound. All my “guitars heroes” stem from the 60s. The 2024 version of this guy makes my 21st century guitar hero list….
Fantastic, beautifully crafted solo. Thanks for this one Levi! Just blocked out three hours to listen, absorb, and learn from your hard work as well as his!
Definitely check out Nicky Moroch demoing the Nolatone Junebug amplifier here on YT. Absolutely beautiful phrasing, note selection and chops when called for. A long session career and so under the radar.
Hey Levi have you heard of a kid named Den Herder? I just came across him today and his song wimpicking is pretty nuts could be a challenging tab?? Any way thanks for all the great tabs you have been doing for us take care bud!
You are right! It's not about complexity (of his playing), but its his feel and tone. That's were guitars were invented for ;-) Not for high speed soul-less arpeggio-runs ;-) (but asking the most beautiful solo ever is a bit too far off ;-)) For me, thats Ancestral by Guthrie Govan. Or indeed: Comf Numb (pick any live version)
This is in the key of A major. The progression is I - IV (1 to 4 chords) A major to D major. It sounds like he’s using A major, A mixolydian, A minor pentatonic, A major pentatonic, in terms of “scales “.
Eh....try the the solo on Sean Costello's take on "Simple Twist of Fate". It's brillance. th-cam.com/video/7q2k3ZFgmV4/w-d-xo.html It's start at four minute 20.
The build up of that solo always reminds me of this solo. Proud to say he's a fellow Canadian. We have tons of great talent th-cam.com/video/sZHd6bcu4eI/w-d-xo.html
@@LeviClay hyperbole. Should have said “remarkably similar.” I’m not knocking the guys obvious talent, it just sounds familiar- the phrasing, the tone, the note choices and bends.
No, it's very good, but not the "most beautiful" I've ever heard. A touch of hyperbole, Levi? Even if you narrow it down to the UK, I'd still take Gary Moore's "Empty Rooms". RIP Gary.
Whats so special about this solo? The most basic blues stuff you can play...been played a million times before and much much better....he plays too safe
Chris is a very vocal player, he really knows how to build emotional intensity. Great job with a difficult transcription Levi, thanks

I play a few of this guy's licks every gig. His phrasing and timing with the ability to build effective tension and release is ridiculous.
It's got a heavy Come Back To Bed vibe by Mayer to it. Killer feel and tones shining through.
Buck always remembers to put some actual music into his music. Thanks for the transcription.
Thank you again, Levi! Bringing us great solos from great players is a labor of love and you are a truly gifted transcriptionist.

Buck is one of my favorites! Keep the lights on boys....... MONSTER!
Thank you for sharing Chris' voice with us!
Never tire of this solo. Watched him perform it live with buck and Evans😁
Never heard of this guy, but it is great. I get a Derek Trucks kind of vibe, without the slide of course. Glad to know this kind of playing is still around. Beautiful.
Wow. It's all right there kids. This is how it's done. Thanks for turning me on to this guy Levi.

Thanks Levi! Chris is fantastic!
great playing remind me of John Mayer had never heard of Chris before!
You're in for a treat. His band is Cardinal Black. They just released an album and it's absolutely worth a listen.
Another winner! Keep em coming!
It's really interesting to hear you speak on how the written notation approximates the music and considers readability.
Super important!
I love that a young person is playing this in 2022, taking the Hendrix, SRV and Mayer sounds even further.
Never heard of him.
Wow awesome player
These are the types of comments I like to see!
Listen to his band Cardinal Black. They just released an album.
Incredible!
Chris freakin buck 🔥🔥
A favorite
There are so many amazing players! But they are so hard to find, at least for me.
2 of the most impressive young guitarists I’ve seen is Max Ostro and a guitarist with the last name “Finger”. I think he’s from Indonesia.
So glad you've done this one. I've watched this exact video so many time, that I've got it memorized. BTY, can we make recommendations?

Waw. Thanks 🥂
Wow
Not my tempo so lets try that one more time. This time with feeling :-)
I went to college with him!
Thanks for sharing Chris with us! If you are taking any requests, could you post some Justin Derrico?
Awesome as ever - like musical lovemaking
Fantastic, beautifully crafted solo. Thanks for this one Levi! Just blocked out three hours to listen, absorb, and learn from your hard work as well as his!
Anyone else feel some Mike McCready in there? Beautiful
Masterful bending.
Always so astonished watching him play. Also funny how polarizing the comment section can get, really cant satisfy everyone 😆
were do you get them shirts ?
When can we get Carlos Cavazo starlicks vidéo guitar intro?? Thanks 🙏
👍
That's the same guitar solo ive heard over and over again for the last 35 years bro.
That was fantastic though I have to confess I clicked on the video thinking it was Rory from the thumbnail 🤣
The most beautiful solo is in Boston's A Man I'll Never Be
Highly reminiscent of Dereck Trucks but bending to those sweet notes not slide playing.
Definitely check out Nicky Moroch demoing the Nolatone Junebug amplifier here on YT. Absolutely beautiful phrasing, note selection and chops when called for. A long session career and so under the radar.

It’s Wim den Herder. He’s great.
@@CorbCorbin oh ok thanks! I am a little bit late to the party on this guy I don’t know how he slipped past my radar lol

Is the transcrition available on patreom yet
yep, they all go up immediately
Which scale is this?
D major mostly
@Bes why would you answer when you clearly don't know?

Yeah, I don't agree with you that he's underrated. Not well known maybe, but everyone who has heard him, definitely rates him very highly.

Sorry but not for me, nothing original.
I really like Chris Buck but this effort is not exemplary. I think the solo is actually boring compared to most of his solos.
Great solo, great player. But someone needs to take his drummer's cymbals away.
It would be great, but they totally ruined it by making it too long.
Yah, ugh? NO!!

Short answer . . . no - nothing special.
No it is not
