I was wondering a few days ago when I was at Walmart if you had a video on this, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
On a side note. Some manufacturers like BMW use a level sensor that will get damaged by washer fluid other than the standard blue wash.
Rain X does a better job with salt for sure. These last winter storms have shown me that. My company uses the blue stuff so I put some Rain X in and the difference was huge. My windshield was clearer and stayed cleaner for visibility while driving. Good vid my man...

Use rain x in the warm months & the purple super tech in the cold months. (Chicago area). Also apply Nu Finish to the windows 4 times a year. Should’ve cleaned the wiper blades with alcohol between tests.

After my testing in the screen wash market, I can honestly say I will never use anything other than Triple QX Apple -35 for winter and the Cherry for summer. These are from euro car parts and they are certainly the best in my opinion.
I use a Refractometer to test my screen wash products to ensure I’m getting within 2 degrees of stated usage on the product bottle. The triple QX brand are the only product on the market that I can say are within tolerance (usually bang on) and they also offer the best smells/fragrances 😉
Great idea using lumens to quantify your results. Very clever. Although I feel moving clouds may have compromised your results. Maybe doing it at night under a street light would be more accurate.
I live in Norway 🇳🇴 and I've tried alot of windshield washer fluids and the all season works alright but the summer one smells better. But I think it's what you prefer to windshield washer fluid blue works good the same as green
You should test the BG Dynamic Engine Cleaner. Its a four part engine claner for heavy carbon and sludge build up.
Personally, I've used Prestone brand yellow "window pee" in the winter. Unfortunately, there seems to be a shortage of it this Winter, so I'm currently using Rain-X. It does mention on their package that it leaves a "protective film" of Rain-X on the glass as you use it and perhaps that's what you've been noticing.
Maybe the film increases in protective capability the more you use it and becomes less noticeable as time goes on. That would be a question for the people at Rain-X itself I imagine.
One thing I noticed back in thr late 80's when I started to use it and I worked at an auto parts and service chsin. At night the pink sodium vapor lights would cause the Rain-X treated windows to flash pink across them and somewhat glow as you went by each light. That always made those sections of Rt. 80 in Northern NJ more distracting and difficult to navigate, so I stopped using their main product.
Thanks for the comparison. Maybe next time you could compare Prestone against them and see how your tests come out. I'm not sure how well flour approximates road dust and grit, since the gluten in it would usually make it clump together.
I can think of no other substitute though, except perhaps corn starch that may work. But then, maybe not. You never know which one may cause issues down the road with your windshield either.

I personally wouldn't have used flour to test this out bc you're probably never going to encounter flour coating your windshield in the real world - and because chemical reactions take place in order to clean the windshield, testing it with something that doesn't mimic the type of residue that they were designed for. Perhaps testing with varying particles placed on the windshield?
I feel that it would also be more accurate to test in a controlled lighting setup where the light is constant - ( like maybe inside a garage at night, under the same LED light fixture, for example).
I see you have a Hyundai Elantra and I was just curious if you knew of anything that could help the piston slap known on the 1.8 nu engines I’m not really trying to spend 3 grand to get it rebuilt I don’t think the car is worth it
I use the rain-x in my cars. I love the water shedding it produces. Sometimes in the rain I don't even need my wipers cause it beads right off the windshield.
The de-icer purple windshield washer works the best in the winter.
I like that purple rainx deicer it works great.

I use the rainex but my windshield needs a good buffing down o can't reach it very well anymore lift is out of control lol
Try Windex windshield fluid but its hard to find. IIRC it's rated -40°C (I'm canadian). Its the best I used so far. Not sure how better if compared to Rainex since I don't think I've used Rainex on my car ever since its too expensive.
I am a stickler for details you have to make sure those wiper blades are clean and in perfect condition
I only use rainx or at least some treatment to the window so it beads. I can't stand untreated windows and the smudging and blurring during rain storms from untreated window..
The stuff I use was creating a slime that blocked the pump filter

I used the RainX De-Icer in spray bottle. Melted ice & left a nasty film. Shocking that they’re allowed to sell something that has the potential to “impair” someone’s driving. The entire reason I bought is bc sometimes I run behind in the morning for work and my work vehicle doesn’t have the automatic start to it. Nothing makes me more mad at myself of course 😂 when I’m running late and then realize I have to wait for the ice to melt or try to find that dang scraper that I never can find when I need it 😂. Now I will say after a while my regular washer fluid did get rid of the residue but to me it’s completely pointless to use something that’s going to cause a film like that.

SuperTech works fine for me and is a helluva lot cheaper.
I just can't stand the film rain x leaves behind. It really shows on foggy, humid days or in light mist. I use the cheapest blue stuff and add a little less than half a dose of Kristall Klar. Cuts through the salt grime well. I use a spray on ceramic wax on my windshield to stop ice from sticking.

Been using Rain X in all my vehicles and my Truck…. Won’t use anything else

Lol, sorry, but your tests are not equal. First you can clearly see the clouds in the reflection on the window , sometimes they are darker other times they are lighter, especially with the last one. Second when you clear the flour off the first time the window was not cleaned off first, you also didn't start with new blades and clean them after each part of each test. Third when you cleared off the floor the first time you turned the wipers on fast so the wipers passed over it, then the second one they started slow to dig off the flour layer. Try doing a controlled test inside under the car light and clean everything after each step during each item. Then and only then will you have a true result.
You should of bluntly just said which is better at the end. I think the thumbs down is because of that because even though I believe supertech was better I still don't know what you thought and got. Got lost a little in the review

Flour + Water = Bread Dough, you made bread on your windshield, if you were in Texas summer it probably start cooking lol
Rain X is terrible, it leave a coating behind and it has ruined many wiper blades for me. I only use the blue stuff now and everything is fine.

Go to Walmart and get a gallon of rain-x $5. Also waxing windshield helps greatly.
