      Try it again but pour in spray wax with it to see if it improves it at all. Many folks already use spray wax for this type of thing, maybe adding a little to the reservoir could make it time efficient and keep it lasting longer overall (by reapplying small amounts over time)

    The RainX works best after drying on the windshield. If you apply it on a dry day, it will work way better in the rain. The orange is good for year round use to continuously apply it on the windshield. Unfortunately, it also leaves orange residue on paint. My squirters are on the hood, and it's quite noticeable on white paint.

    If you couple the Rain X 2 in 1 with the Rain X wiper blades, it works a lot better. Based on what I seen on the video, the wiper blades you have need to be changed and its probably best you don't try to do this experiment while its raining. You don't buy a fire extinguisher after a fire has started.

      I used that rainx after putting on brand new blades and cleanining the windshield and i got the same exact smears when wiping and cloudy haze when raining. Also if the issue was his blades then it wouldnt have smeared way less with o reilys

    Clean your window first. Add rainx when your windows are dry. After you apply it on a dry window it gets better and better. It's all i use here in Colorado in the winter and I never turn on my wipers on the rain. At speed the window clears it's self with no wipers.. Great product when applied and used properly.

    If you mix the rain x washer fluid with the regular washer fluid 50/50 it will not smear the windshield with a film yet it still allows the rain x to work pretty well.

    I liked the Rain-X at first, but after a while you'll start to see that it clogs up the nozzle because of its "wax" properties. My right nozzle just drips right now, and my left one is going downhill. I will be cleaning the nozzles and going back to a basic washer fluid. I came here just to see if anyone had that problem yet.

      I always put a little vinegar in my washer fluid, helps keep the nozzles from clogging up.

    Rain-X washer fluid is best used on warm sunny days. That gives it time to cure to the windshield. You cant use it for the very first time in a rain storm. The sun bakes the chemical on the windshield.

    I’ve noticed this. Rain X leaves a misty or streaky layer of water behind that makes it seem like your wiper blades needs replacing. It will make rain bead up and roll off at high speeds, but when there’s only a small amount of rain or you’re driving slow, the windshield does not clear up behind wipers that well.

  • @stuff8605
    @stuff8605 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    My experience with RainX: Use the spray bottle stuff, applied correctly on a VERY CLEAN windshield. Use Rain-X sprayer fluid. I have to use my wipers half as much because the water just falls off the windshield at speed. Also, always check your wipers to make sure they are in great shape. My whole family uses their stuff, and when used properly, is great when you live in a rainy area. I don't think just using the sprayer fluid with one outing gives you the best result, as seen in this video.

    I always by the cheap stuff from the grocery store or the dollar store and I never notice a difference. At the same time, I always have my windshield and windows treated with Rain X water repellent. Makes a big difference when I drive in the rain. The cheap stuff has always worked well for many years.

    • @NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO
      @NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes i agree the lower price fluid is good or better at less than highway speeds where i might give the edge to Rain-X. Thanks as always really times are getting tough but i hope everything is ok for you.

  • @brucecoleman7412
    @brucecoleman7412 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The blue stuff is basically just a cleaner, where the Rain-X is more of a water repellent treatment. I have found that first cleaning the w/s with a nylon scrub pad and winded, and cleaning the blades themselves with WD-40 seems to minimize the smearing after the WD-40 wears off. The Rain-X makes a difference at higher speeds where the air pressure actually blows the water off of the w/s. I can actually see much better on the Interstate with the wipers off on a Rain-Xed w/s. It does take quite a bit of application to a clean w/s for the Rain-X to really work. If you start with a w/s splattered with bugs, neither one does such a great job. The best thing (and cheapest) I have found for bug removal is baking soda on a damp rag. I learned that in Florida during love bug season in the 70’s! It doesn’t hurt the paint!

      WD-40 should never be used as a cleaner. It's a water displacer, hence the letters WD. It is not good as a cleaner or a lubricant

    • @brucecoleman7412
      @brucecoleman7412 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      MiniDevilDF Well, it works for me, especially once your blades have started streaking. If you have some kind of preconceived notion that it won’t work, by all means let your wipers streak. By the way, there over 100 uses for WD-40.

I just found out after few years of having problem with my vehicle's wiper fluid sensor " LOW WINDSHIELD FLUID" messages on my dashboard was cause of a coating layer from this product. I'm still trying to fix my issue. Just and FYI for does out there that using this Rain X product could give you this problem.

    Run 1 full gallon of the Rain X thru, and by the start of the second gallon you will never go back to another brand. I’ve learned that the Rain X starts working really well after at least a full tank of it has been used. It needs a little more windshield time to really apply it’s coating. But I would definitely run 1-2 gallons before you decide to go back to the cheap crap. Trust me, it is well worth the wait!!!

    Rain x has to be applied dry, even a base coat of the washer fluid. At low speeds it ain't that great. It shines at high speeds. Also it helps with wiper shatter, an squeeks. So try the rain x on dry day afew times then update please. I promise you will change your mind

    Last year I purchased 6 jugs of washer fluid from Dollar Tree. I used it in three vehicles. Within months, the washer pumps in all three vehicles died (electrical problems) and needed to be replaced. Before that I never needed to replace a washer pump ever.
    Was this just a coincidence or could there be anything with the washer fluid that caused this? Is washer fluid actually touching the electrical parts of the pump?

    I did away with Rain-X after finding it to cause terrible streaking even with wipers on intermittent
    or in heavy rain.
    And that it has sediment collecting on the tank itself. The new formula is supposedly free of sediment, but I will
    stick with the cheap stuff.
    I used Amway window cleaner to get the Rain-X residue off my windshield.
    Sediment eventually left the tank.

    It is very obvious that the RainX one is better, I don't understand how a lot of you guys don't see the difference. Just look at how water drops look more wellshaped on RainX than the other fluid. You don't see water drops on the Oraylles because it doesn't do the job, water just lays completely flat on the windshield surface that's why you don't see droplets. The more water drops you see, the better it is.
