You're right about lip balms although that's just the petroleum ones. The ones made of wax (such as burts bees) actually moisturise the skin instead of sitting on top of it and drying it out.
What are some other lip balms made of wax? I use carmex and I just read the back and it's made of petrolatum which I guess is the same thing as petroleum! And that would be why after the lip balm dries, my lips are drier! I didn't know about it.
Carmen Foster the doctor bronner's organic one is beeswax. And Elizabeth Arden does one if you're feeling especially fancy. Not too sure apart from that I've always just stuck with the burt's bees one lol
Carmen Foster I use Shea Moisture brand Shea Butter Lip Balm. It's an organic, fair trade brand and the balm is vegan, which is a plus. It's the best lip balm I've ever used. (I like the coconut and hibiscus one the best)

There have been several times that I'd be walking around at school with a butt cheek partly out because my backpack swung too low! I couldn't walk a few steps without it hiking up my skirt! Being cute and stylish is so hard, I swear.
I really love the bag-so fab! I use pouches in my bag a lot when I'm travelling but not for just day to day stuff, I never thought about how I do that-maybe I should adopt your pouch organisation full time!

I've had mine for 18 months and except for the usual bottom of bag gunk that I am wholly responsible for, they are still in perfect condition (and I am not kind to my bags).

Also, I completely used to feel the same way about lip balm until I moved across the US to a VERY dry climate where I need it quite often, no matter how hydrated I am. When I go back home my lips are fine again but here most people are chapped 24/7.

Yes! I am too quite certain about the lip-balm scam (and who knows what other "basic products" may be a scam as well). I play a woodwind instrument for a living, and since very little I was told to use lip balm daily to protect my lips. It's been a few years since I only use it occasionally (cold and windy weather or when I have a cold), and always as neutral as possible. My lips have never beben better. Ah!, and also, if you do use one, stick to that one: changing formulas is worst for your lips. Also, your backpack is gorgeous and the book-protector-merch-thing sounds awesome! XX
YAS, please sell book protectors, I always bring my books in those little protectors too but I'm in the market for some bigger sizes since I can't fit bigger books into my current ones! & Love that backpack, I have the Matt & Nat "Brave" backpack but like you I'm pretty bad at light packing and the straps have actually started to show a lot of tear where they're attached tot he main bag part from the heaviness of my laptop and stuff, after a year of wear.. So my tip is to really minimize the load if you want to keep your bag in good condition!

just watch out for the ingredients in your lip balms for irritants like methanol etc (also i feel like a lot of lipbalm just just petroleum jelly and like, flavouring)
