Coco is a time traveller. She's travelling to games 1 and 2 via the Warp Room from Crash 3 - that's why she appears at the time machine. So the Coco appearing to Crash via hologram is a younger version of the Coco you play as.
Great vid. I honestly think Crash 2 is the only one improved with the NSane trilogy. Crash 1 on PS1 is still better because of the jump range, Nsane is ridiculously limited and strict. People say High Road and Road to Nowhere are hard in Nsane but really the jump just sucks. However, they did improve the save system and bonus rounds. I personally love that you need to do the level without dying to get the gem.
I've been going for platinum relics for every level in Crash 1. For some reason the first levels platinum relic is really hard,.but I finally got it after 6 hours.
I have a strange relationship with this collection. I grew up with Crash, and when this was initially coming out, it was killing me because my favorite franchise was back and I didn't have a PS4. I finally got to play it a year later and dumped around 70 hours into the collection in total. However, I was just a teenager and didn't really have the experience to really tell if a remake was superior other than "oooohh visuals go brrrr". Nowdays, I'm a lot more critical. Visually there are some good elements but I personally think the art direction is pretty bad. The bizarre realistic effects just clash with the cartoonier aspects of this franchise, animations can range from good enough to *how did this get approved,* and the lighting is probably the worst part. These games looked insane on the PS1 for the time and the lighting only amplified that, while the lighting in NST barely works half the damn time. I think Crash Bandicoot 4 modernized the series MUCH better. That's not even getting into the completely MISSING DETAILS. Remember the secret warp room in Crash 2? In the PS1 version you're supposed to be able to see the islands from Crash 1 in the background, and that's just completely missing! Gameplay-wise, while it's impossible to deny the improvements made to Crash 1, I feel like Crash 2 and 3 are far more tacked-on. Moving with the analog stick feels really bad, which is due to a bizarre clover-shaped deadzone programmed by VV. The vehicles in 3 are somewhat refined, but I still think they're an unnecessary distraction from the platforming, however that's Crash 3's fault, not NST's. Combine that with the janky hitboxes, and the sequels are just far better on PS1. The new additions are *nice,* but they're not essential to the experience if you ask me. About Crash 1 one more time, while I do think the NST version is better as a whole, one thing the PS1 version has going for it is movement. The heavy momentum Crash had in that game took a bit of getting used to, but the levels were designed *around* it. Since NST's movement is very stop and go with no in between, certain sections just don't work as well. It's why you constantly saw clips of players falling in bouncing sections or the bridge levels. All in all, I'm not a fan of the collection, but it's definitely still a valid way of playing the original Crash games, especially considering they just refuse to re-release the PS1 versions on modern hardware. This was a pretty entertaining video that definitely got a few laughs out of me. Good stuff.
@BrennySpain yeah. Crash 2 in N sane : Coco playable, glitches removed, time trial, Speed shoes, Bosses replayable, striped crate can be broken with just 5 jumps, Crate counter in bonus stages. Original Crash 2: best controls, best ice physics. Even though N Sane has more advantages than the original, the very heavy controls lower the score for me because it's the main part of a game and the gameplay gets imprecise at times, especially when jumping on nitro crates.
I am mixed on the N sane trilogy. Crash 1 is a straight upgrade in every aspect excluding the jumping where you'll die due to muscle memory from the original version with the physics. Crash 2, is better in all the general aspects like 1 but with the new physics it makes the alternate play sections & ice areas much more annoying everything is much more slippery where the originals were tight extremely so. That problem is far more apparent in crash 3, where for me it has butchered 2/3 of the game because the physics for the water ski & bike are abysmal to control because they are so loose. Where i used to always binge playing crash 3 to 100% in a afternoon as a kid for fun. The new change kills that desire also can't really stand the new remakes of old osts but thats more nitpick than something to hold against the game.
I’d say the N.Sane Trilogy is in most ways better than the originals. I’m sure there some instances where the controls are off or the music doesn’t quite go as hard, but from what I’ve seen of the game (beating Crash 1 and getting halfway into Crash 2) it’s a a good game, if a bit painful to complete.
The nostalgia doesn't grip me as much with crash as it does with Spyro. I only beat the original Crash bandicoot on PS1 once. 2 and three I really liked but will agree that all 3 are better on N sane. As much as I was over the moon with I saw Reignited since I adore Spyro and love playing Reignited. Sometimes I will still go out of my way to play the original 3 games.
Good video! I really enjoyed the N. Sane Trilogy. Toys For Bob did pretty much everything right! That being said, I don't think it makes the originals completely obsolete. They still hold up quite well to this day. The same goes for Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled and the Spyro Reignited trilogy. For me, it's like Super Mario All-Stars. Yes, I do like the updated 16-bit presentation of the games, but that doesn't make the original NES Mario trilogy any less fun. Though, Crash 1 for the PS1 now has a patch that allows you to die and still collect the Gems, much like the N. Sane version, so it is a nice quality of life addition (unless you like the original's challenge).
we all know the best crash game is those weird ass gameboy things that happens when you connect crash 4 on GameCube to ur gameboy or whatever what is a bandicoot I’m schizophrenic
I don't know how popular my take on this N. Sane Trilogy may be, but to me those versions of Crash 1 and 2 are better than the original games, while the original Crash Bandicoot Warped (my favourite platformer in the series) is better than Crash 3 on NST. It's not like I dislike that version of the game, it's still a very good remake with objectively more content thanks to the new level Future Tense (which is a great addition to the game), but I grew up playing the PAL version of Crash 3 on the PS1 and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is based on the NTSC American versions of those games, so this version of Warped doesn't really feel so special to me
I would think Crash Bandicoot one is a good game soundtrack is awesome nsane Trilogy try it's best and who doesn't forget the whole yeehaw! Celebrating when beating a boss? But the worst part is og doesn't save lives like Mario Galaxy what the heck were they thinking?!
I just replayed the original trilogy of crash games and CTR. here are my thoughts: Crash 1: it's good. Not much to say, it's just good Crash 2: I actually really liked it, it was a lot of fun. but I hated the jetpack Crash 3: Awful. Platforming was fun, Vehicles and bosses were terrible CTR: Didn't really care for it. my main problem was that if you get hit by anything, you get stunned for so long that you've basically already lost. Although I was playing as N. Gin, so maybe it's a problem exclusive to him.
@XeresKyle it is not better graphics. The original 3 games, crash looks perfect. Just like the cover art. The music is worse. The lighting is worse. The hit boxes are worse, his jump is worse. I've been playing crash since I was little and still own every copy. I do not need it at all.
Honestly the n.sane trilogy was the best thing that happened to Crash. I’m glad it exists.

The first videogame I ever played was Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
Crash 1 best version: N sane
Crash 2 best version: both
Crash 3 best version: Original
Highly agree here. Both versions of crash 2 are good for different reasons.

Love the footage of you sliding into nitro boxes repeatedly on N tranced.

I was hyped for the N Sane Trilogy because I'm sick and tired of Mario and Sonic being the only platformers out there.

12:38 I believe in Crash 4 it's about time they took that out or tweaked that feature because they realize that was unfair to the player.

Yes. Yes, it is.
The ice physics in Crash 2 NST are awful it almost ruins the game for me. Also most of vehicle controls aren’t as good as the originals.

Disliking CTR is criminal. Really.
That was really good. But let's take a minute to reflect on the tragic attack by Israel on the USS Liberty

Simple answer. No.
