I loved this song when it came out in the late 70s, and I still love it in 2023!!! "Ain't We Funking Now" & "Strawberry Letter 23" are my all-time favorites. This music will never sound old even a million years from now!!!!!

My husband of 26 years and I met when he played bass in a band that played a whole lotta The Brothers Johnson and similar music. In fact… “I’ll Be Good to You” was kinda our song when we first got together.
RIP Louis (one of the best bass players EVER!!)
    🙂🙏💜✌️

The 2 guys in the car are the 2 brothers; George & Louis Johnson. They had several hits back in the day. Louis, the bass player, did a lot of music for Michael Jackson. Did you notice that this was a band playing the music. Check out Mint Condition, ConFunkShun, Earth Wind & Fire, Isley Bothers, & Kool & the Gang.

That's what music is supposed to do,..make your soul leap, cry, rejoice,..be hopeful,..these guys in the 70's,.like the 80's, so many bands, artists everytime you turn around,..the Isley Brothers, coming out of the 60's, completely different, then lighting up the 70s, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire,
Al Green, Aretha, Minnie Riperton and that's just the r&b, soul, funk,..Boston, ELO(Electric Light Orchestra), Yes, Pink Floyd again coming off the 60's, more bands huh, bending the envelope with their incredible artistry, gifts from the universe,..do keep going, check out all I mentioned if you haven't yet,..so many I forgot to mention,..I've got decades of music in my head,..decades,..Godspeed, Peace ✌

Music back then took you back into time. I wished that I can go back. This generation do not know about old skool jams.
What year you were born? You had missed out on soooo much music. Studio 54 was the spot in NY where people loved and enjoyed the music. No one was hating and fighting!!
    Bless Up to these Legends.🤜🏾🤛🏾

I get it. You're young and kinda jaded. It's OK. I was 22. White. Canadian. I'd *met* ten black people *in my entire life*. The Brothers Johnson blew me away. For *years*. I had no *concept*. No *idea*. All of my horizons broke all at once. Before that, all I had was the Supremes, the Four Tops, The Jackson Five. Anybody who had showed up on Ed Sullivan. Then the Brothers Johnson. And I saw a whole universe of music that I'd never even *imagined* before burst open in front of my eyes. I'm 65, now. I still cry when I see these videos. Not because I'm sad. Because I remember what it meant. That's when I set out to look for music. Not what I'd heard, or what was familiar. Specifically, for anything that I *knew nothing about*. I found Bluegrass, Funk, R&B,, Motown, and the list goes on and on. Today, my musical tastes would best be described as "wildly eclectic". Everything from Wagner's "Die Valkyrie", to Sakamoto's "Ue O Mue TI, Aruko". From Mocedades "Eres Tu" to Black Sabbath's "Fairies Wear Boots". The Brothers Johnson were a turning point in my life. And the song that it all hinged on was "Strawberry Letter 23". You might want to look that up:
