    I watch all your videos and I'm impressed by the even tone of them. You seem to genuinely enjoy your job. I appreciate that you don't have an agenda to rant and judge. I'm an Electrical Engineer dealing with pressure that would turn coal into a diamond. Your videos are an escape for me. Seems you're happy and love your job. Congrats and please keep the videos coming, my sanity depends on it. LOL.

      By the way, I am sure if you are overwhelmed by employing your knowledge of engineering for a salary somewhere, driving a semi would probably irritate your vagina enough to create a pearl. You still win Mr. Engineer, keep your lab-created pressure diamond, the trucker is rewarded with your pearl.

    Great informative video!, love the scenery too. The town of "Clifton" is my surname!. I live by the sea in North Wales, UK, scenery here very hilly and many mountains, but a lot greener than Arizona!. I am 'Old school' too, i started driving commercial vehicles at age 18 in 1973, but had to finish in 2001 due to health and other issues, my trucking fix is mostly thru TH-cam now, at least i have that left!.

    It looked to me going up and down that big hill you were "floating" gears as I didn't see your left leg move and I was watching it like a hawk, LoL? .............. I love the inside the truck view, was a super good video. .......... If it was my truck, I'd of down shifted once or twice more to keep my RPM at 1350, as I imagine 1500 is shift range on a big engine like you have, LoL. I really like your truck. I know a lot of drivers that would give their right arm to look out over a long square hood including me, errr well, maybe my left arm, well errr a few toes, errr well my x wife, LOL...

    Hi Dan, great videos lots of info to digest. On your jakes what switch number were you on 1, 2 or 3 going down the long hill from the mine. Also when your doing these vids could you please add what gears your in. Last question what mileage is on your rig and what would be the mileage you would sell and replace the old girl and what mileage would you consider safe and a good deal on a replacement truck and what make of truck. Thanks safe trucking.

      I usually live my jakes in 3. I was trying to think of what gear I was in when I was doing the video but when I drive I never pay attention to the gear number. I just listen to the engine for what gear sounds right.
      My truck has 1.2 million miles on it. I think I rebuilt the motor when it's time. Then it should be go for about another .5 million. I would recommend a used truck with around 400000-500000 miles. As for brand I really don't have a preference. Just keep your payment around $1200-$1400

      When I got out of the Army I went to work for a Mom and Pop trucking company. The owner was certified by the state to administer the driving test. With no training he threw me the keys and said come on let's go. I told him I never drove a commercial truck before. He said you drove a truck in the Army it's the same thing. That afternoon I was on my to San Antonio Tx to deliver my first load. The last thing he told me was don't back up if you don't have to.
      That was 26 years ago. I drove for that family for 10 years. They were real good to me.

    Hey Dan, I have question. I drove a 10 speed a little and between gears is a 400 RPM difference so I would know when to shift gears to keep in the optimum range. Does a 13 speed have 300 RPM difference, and a 18 speed have a 200 RPM difference?

      @SuperTruckerdan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2
