    The "damn dirty apes" line by Tom Felton is a reference to the iconic line in the original. It's actually a direct line. You guys should really watch the original, absolutely iconic

    • @月_12
      @月_12 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That's not the only reference! Even Caesar's "No!" reflects the original film storyline wherein the ape domination started from a single ape refusing a human: by saying "No". This fact was stated in Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1972), by Dr. Cornelius, who was original Caesar's father.
      In the Rise film, there was a female ape introduced as Cornelia which the visitors mistook as male.
      I still have so much references to name including the Bright Eyes nickname, the water hose punishment inside a cage, but I fear I'm spoiling it for people who haven't seen the original series yet.
      Also! Tom Felton's character's name is Dodge Landon, which are both the names of Charlton Heston's two space companions, Dodge and Landon.

    I think Will's character portrayal is perfect for the role. He is someone who becomes a guardian without any warning or control and slowly morphs into a father figure for Caesar. His actions really seem like desperate attempts to be a good parent while also losing his own father in the process. I think the tragedy comes from Will's human emotions and his realization that he has made so many faulty mistakes on the way while letting Caesar down.

    Andy Serkis brings so many characters like Caesar to life. It makes me mad how much he is overlooked when it comes to being nominated for an Oscar. I know he has won some other awards, but I want that big award for him! It isn't just his voice, it's full-body performance. The second movie is really good too.

  • @tjjordan4207

    I love the use of the "NO" sequence. While the reusing of the iconic quote from the original Planet of the Apes film felt forced, it did help lead the audience into the reveal of Caesar being able to speak. When I saw this in theaters, the iconic quote made people laugh, which I guess was the intention. But the moment Caesar yelled "NO", everyone went silent. It was a very well-done sequence.

  • @Heida77
    @Heida77 ปีที่แล้ว +278

    In a deleted scene, Rodney tends to Caesar and offers him a cookie. This may better explain why Caesar chose to only imprison him rather than letting the apes kill him.
    In the original ending, which was actually filmed, Will dies saving Caesar from being shot. It was changed a month before the movie was released. The scene was shot on July 4th and took 3 hours to film. It put a lot of pressure on the post-production team for a movie that had to open by August 5th, but it worked out fine in the end.
    Also, guys, come on! Draco is an angel compared to Dodge. But speaking of Harry Potter, Rupert Grint arrived at the movie's premiere wearing a t-shirt that read "I ❤ Tom Felton" which is just ICONIC.

    • @greyscalesx
      @greyscalesx ปีที่แล้ว +33

      I think that scene wasn't necessary. Bc it would have made it a decision based what he did for Ceasar.
      Instead of sparing hip bc it was clear that he was good natured, cared about the animals and was bullied by and subservient to Tom Feltons character.
      It means that Ceasar can have empathy and be a good judge of character based on who that guy was rather than on what he has done for him. And that's very smart and very kind.

    I always admired how Caesar never wanted to kill the humans in this trilogy, rather just break free from their rule. I never saw it as him being weak, but as Caesar actually being the bigger individual. Caesar was a great leader because he kept his eye on the actual goal, which was for his kind to be free from human rule. He only killed when it was absolutely necessary and he always did his best to not make things personal. He didn’t force the apes to hate the human race, he didn’t ask them to kill every one (like Koba), he just thought about what was best for his kind. Caesar knew in order to be a higher species you must be better than the ones who abused you. I saw the trailer for the 4th movie and I’m so hyped for it! Tho it seems some apes have learned nothing from the humans and are beginning to act just like they did after becoming the dominant species. Hopefully this knew character will take after him and follow in his footsteps.

    “He looks like a Maurice.” He is named after actor Maurice Evans from the original movie whose character was an orangutan

    Who'd have thought that breathing such fresh life into what was, by all accounts, a dead franchise was even possible. This is a great trilogy that was much better than it had any right to be. Rise did an excellent job setting up the films while also having an excellent story on its own seeing Caeser rise from a mere ape with intelligence to a leader. I feel like it gets underrated compared to the sequels.

    There are six living species of apes, four of which live(and or originated) in Africa and two that live in Asia. Humans obviously originated in Africa but have now spread out not only throughout the world but in space lol! The other three species of ape from Africa are gorillas, chimpanzees, and bonobos. Chimps and bonobos are very closely related to each other and are our closest living relatives, but are the exact opposites behavioral wise. Chimpanzees live in communities called troops, they are led by a dominant male and are usually quite kind to their troop members but are incredibly territorial and aggressive towards any chimps outside of their own troop, there have been multiple accounts of chimpanzee wars in the wild, usually prompted by dominant males having territorial dispute, very similar to our species. Bonobos on the other hand are probably one of the most peaceful animals on our planet, they usually live in matriarchies meaning they are led by a female. and they have an incredibly unique way of communicating, largely done through sexual interactions including different positions intercourse. The third species of African ape is currently the largest species, the gorilla. They can average up to 300 pounds and 6ft standing up. There’s not really too much to say about them, they’re basically just bigger, stronger, slightly less intelligent chimpanzees. There are four different sub species of gorilla, two of which live in tall mountains. When a male gorilla gets older it starts growing silver colored hair on its back similar to how humans grow silver hair when they get older. This has nothing to do with their status in their troop. Orangutans are the fourth species of great ape, they are currently the only species that lives in Asia, in the rainforest of Indonesia and Borneo. They have incredibly thin and light fur which appears a bright orange color when hit by sunlight. They are easily the best ape at climbing and have adapted long powerful arms, perfect for swinging through the Bornean canopies. They’re also the only species of ape that don’t live in large communities like we do, they are pretty much solitary, with males holding claim to large territories that they will allow certain females to enter whenever they like. They are the species of great ape we are least closely related to as they evolved from a completely separate group of great apes that lived in Eurasia long ago. The last species of ape, the gibbon, is the only species considered to be a lesser ape, because it is the species that is closest related to other primates such as monkeys. Like orangutans they are also endemic to Asia, and often share territory with orangutans when allowed to. They also have incredibly long and powerful arms for swinging in canopies. The largest species of gibbon is called the siamang, and they have a unique throat pouch that they can use to make very loud booming howls and whoops so they can communicate with each other through long distances.

    so this movie is NOT a remake of the original. this whole series are prequels. i love this series and im looking forward to the 4th one. they are so well done. and maurice is my boy, hes great, absolute fave. the post credit sequence was important, it showed the spread of the virus because the pilot traveled and that dispersed it in a wide range of countries. im glad that all the bad things happened to that guy, he was awful. i also think that they had to kill the gorilla because they needed a death we cared about. all the other deaths besides the dad were villians. glad you are watching these.

    In this universe, the ship will fly off into space for about 300 years and then crash back down to Earth to find a hyper advanced ape civilization.

    Shout out to Karin Konoval as Maurice, Terry Notary who plays Rocket and Caesar’s mother (who was also the movement coach since the Tim Burton remake) and Richard Ridings as Buck among others. Plus the whole "no" scene was in reference to the third film in the original series, Escape From the Planet of the Apes, where they mention the origins that an ape defies human oppression by saying the word "no" and everyone involved with this knew that they had to nail that scene. Though will say it is amazing how even though we all know this is a prequel to Planet of the Apes, it surprises everyone when that scene plays.
