Hey friend, why eating only the legs? Is the rest not eat able? Cause I saw video from some individuals who eat the whole thing of cause not the offal xD wouldnt it be better to eat everything in survival situations? Best regards
28:11 - I love, and appreciate, the fact that you’re discussing something that you’re not happy about. Instead of editing it out and hiding the fact it didn’t go 100% to plan, you own it, and learn from it, and make a plan to hit it harder next time. That there is inspirational AF!!
You actually did a good job for the set up on the metal melting. You did not pour to fast at all. When working with molten metals you want to get the metal poured as quick and safely as possible. You are correct in you need two sides to your flask. Also look into making green sand as you will not get the major flashing around your piece as the sand will pack tighter creating a better seal between the flask halves. Also pack the sand as tight as you can so that loose sand does not fall into your void causing pits. Over all, you did an amazing job for the materials used. I've been pouring metals for over a decade and I am impressed with your creativity in this project. Appreciate your videos my friend, looking forward to many more.
I lost my eye in 2016 and have over 208 screws along with titanium plates hold my face together, so needless to say I stopped camping because I didn’t know if I’d ever be able to. But then I can across your videos and it’s because of you sir that for the first time since March of 2016 that I spent a weekend in the woods last week. It was the best medicine I needed, and I even ordered some of your gear sir. So saying that I also like to thank you for doing these videos and inspiring me to get back in the woods!
Absolutely outstanding, good job on getting out!! You’re miles ahead of me, you actually got your ass outside, I’m still making excuses like a pussy!! You’re an inspiration Sir, hope you’re doing okay, and well done again on getting outside into the wild 👍🏻
It has been a long journey, I lost vision in my right eye whenever the wreck happened. I just ended my recovery in 2019 so things are still touch and go. I went from an active fire fighter an outdoorsman to someone that let fear run my life ever since I got out the hospital. It took me watching these videos over and over and getting those memories back of how good it felt to be outside Before I actually committed to it, is it truly was the greatest feeling I felt since I’ve been home. I know you’re going to reach that point where you’re ready to get up and go and when you do sir it’s gonna be a great day!
Cpl.Kelly.....your TRUE legions have no reason to troll any of the other channels, we are getting plenty of info here that may one day save our lives !.....thank you for this awesome video I am constantly learning from you !.......God Bless
The bushcraft foundry was outstanding AF, in my opinion. It had me saying, “Well I’ll be damned.”, out loud. My Sunday activities can now resume. Second week on a row I received a notification. Have happy Father’s Day sir. 🤙
Another Sunday made complete by another outstanding AF video. The aluminum casting you did was the first time I saw that in the field. That's also a way to clean up the woods, since so many slobs leave cans and bottles everywhere they go. I'm not French, but you might have just convinced me to try frog. As always, rock on, "like a Corporal!" Last but not least, have a happy Father's Day!
Excellent video as usually Shawn!! This might seem a little to heartfelt but I think your a great example of what post service life should look like for most veterans! Happy fathers day catch you again next week!!!!
I just have to say it. I'm probably not the only one who thinks this. But I subscribe to a lot of bushcrafters on TH-cam, and Instagram. Out of every single one I watch weekly, your the only one, who actually puts in the hard work. No one does the builds like you do. No really sits and explains the methods of your builds, or walks you through a skill set like you do. Hands down #1 in my book. I'm a novice, and I still have a lot to learn, but everything I've done so far has worked, and that teaching has come from you, and your dedication to the skill. I'm also a fan of TA Outdoors. Pretty good channel also.
Corporal...you are a true class act! I watch your channel because I can see you're way above all the bs and your productions are superior... always awesome AF!
Used your methods to get a bean bag toss target game hung up at a kid's birthday party yesterday. It was basically a lean to except without the lean. Hung up a ridgeline between two trees using a bowline and truckers hitch then used Prussic knots to keep the top attached to the line and grabbed some sticks and improvised some stakes to hold the bottom down. Sturdy as hell! Threw a couple beanbag fastballs at it to test and they bounced right off. Made me look like a true outdoorsman but I'm just a big computer dork. Anyway, it got the job done in under 5 minutes and scored me points w all the moms so I consider that a win. Thanks Corporal!
Thank you for your service keep the great content up your awesome don’t listen to jealous people who can’t even keep track of his equipment please keep it coming I have been in scouts for 40 years and backed all over the country and know your the real deal thank you keep it coming
Ah yes! A new Corporals Corner video! One of the only two channels where i refuse to watch on sped up time, i will watch it all the way to the end and will likely rewatch it! Always top tier content!
Brilliant as usual! Don’t be so hard on yourself! The finished casting was functional, well made, of good design for the purpose. As a retired aerospace engineer I can honestly say that your ingenuity rivals some of the best minds that make aerospace vehicles. You got serious skills and a brilliant mind! Semper Fi!
Glad you kept your mishap in. Shows that even pro bushcrafters fubar something, from time to time. Showing alternatives was a good touch. Outstanding content as always. O7
Shawn....like American Thundergod said. . . . don't sweat the ingot! You slept on 2 trash bags in the woods, had a knife, saw & file!!! Ya still made a working tool !! Great job! Love your vidz.....keep up the good work!!!!
You’re too hard on yourself brother. No grinder, no cut off wheel and you still made it look better than some ppl can in the shop. Aluminum is soft but it can be a pain bc of that. Love the frog gigging content. We’re with ya every sunday keep it comin
Don’t be ashamed of the outcome of your casting. Just shows you are not perfect and don’t claim to be perfect and it shows that not matter who you are, everyone can learn something new. Keep up the good work and as always, OUTSTANDING.
Happy Father's day to you and all the true subscribers that support our Corporal's Corner community. I loved the transition from shelters to tool-making, refreshing. This is very useful as cans are every where. It is a great way to recycle Bubbas' Natty Ice cans after Memorial day! Stay true brother, not everyone understand the infantry way! Keep em coming! When people are criticizing you you know you are doing something right. We just need to hold the high ground as much as we want to "shake and bake."
Happy Father's day everyone. I had just about the best day a dad could ask for. I rested almost all day long, got to see my dad, and then we all got fat and happy and full of lobster. And now I'm in a food comma and watching my favorite ytube show. Now that's a good day.
I love all your videos. Dude do not stop any of them. I like the change up and you have some great ideas for in the field. Keep the videos coming. Thanks
Outstanding Shawn! I look forward to Sundays. I'm a very busy guy. I worked 70 hours last week and once my chores are done on Sunday it's always a pleasure to watch your videos. Enlightening and entertaining.
Sean I'm in the UK and turned 53 April this year, I've always been an avid outdoorsman since my Dad took me poaching rabbits with ferrets when I was 5, I can't get out as much as I'd like to due to health issues so content posted by yourself and other knowledgeable woodsmen, I have to admit when I first started watching your channel i wrongly pinged your confidence as arrogance to which i apologise for. Thank you for taking us along on your journey . All the best Shane.
As a 4th generation Industrial Wood Pattern Maker, and an Eagle Scout who grew up (and still does) playing in the woods, I REALLY appreciate this content! Ok so just to educate a little, not to troll or anything: you pour the metal into a sprue (hole A) you don't have any gating so the metal flows straight into the cavity created by your Pattern (what you called the templates) and out through a riser (hole B). Larger parts require different gating and or more risers of different size. I agree, having a cope and drag flask along with a larger riser may result in a better part. Thanks for this content. Oh one more thing! Frog legs light coat of flour or even panko. Salt and pepper, lightly pan fry.... Perfection.
What make you stand out from the rest is hard work. Who else would spend 3 hrs on a gig just for us. Something hard to find is hard work in anyone now day. Thank you for your service to country and us survivalist.
I'm going to be honest Corporal, the sustained pace of your builds is "outstanding"! Taking a bit of a break and doing something a little different never hurts. And I finally got to see you gigging for frogs after hearing you talk about it so much! My family harvests a lot off the land and grow a lot of our own food, so in all honesty I really appreciated this video.
Great video! The casting was excellent regardless of the perfection... in effect you actually showed what most likely would happen and could be produced in a non foundry environment. In the bush we craft things into functionality... so what you showed was how to take something, craft it, and get it functional. Awesome!
I finally had the time to watch this . Great episode! Very interesting and my sons were pretty into the whole smelting Bushcraft style . Excellent Job . Hope to see more of your out of the box ideas! Really really interesting this one .
So glad I caught this video, on frog gigging. Me and my sisters and my daddy and Mom and Granny all used to go fall gigging and it was one of the best times in the forest that I've had in my lifetime. I am so sorry that I moved out of the country number one and just never got back into it with life's demands and responsibilities. But you don't know how happy and have fun that this video was thank you so much.
I really enjoyed he video, and the slightly modified format! Keep showing us your skills, and teaching us new things, and I will be happy and keep coming back. I don't need a notification to know I can find you every Sunday!
Happy Fathers Day to all the dad's out there. was a great video, I've always wondered about casting in the wild, can't wait to see the copper and bronze ages. Just casting it in the wild makes it a cut above the rest. I haven't seen that in other videos, and there's always that learning curve. Great video, thanks for posting.
Lots of variety in this video. I liked the simplicity of the shelter along with the addition of more complex bushcraft skills. While I probably wouldn't go to the trouble of making a cast frog gig, the technology has other applications in the field. One 5000 year old example is the copper axe blade used in making Otzi the Iceman's axe. If you curious, google it. Back in that age people were smelting their own ore as well as founding various cutting tools. That said thanks for demonstrating how this can be done in the field. Looking forward to the next adventure in the field.
@@singlemomlivinginthemounta7177 Thanks for your comment. When I was in college, I used Otzi the Iceman and the evidence surrounding his demise in an argumentative essay about global warming. I learned a lot about our earth history and the cyclical events that shape our climate. Learning more than a headline about Otzi and his kit was icing on the cake. That's why I'm enjoying Corporals Corner, to learn about bushcraft skills and survival. If you would be interested in learning more about my research, I would welcome the opportunity to share it.
Thank you for your service! Please keep building your "Bacon-wrapped" Overnight Builds with tons of bushcraft nuggets. Love your consistent, blue-collar work ethic.
Honestly bro, people may hate and sh** here and there but if the world ends, I am proud to say that I will be one the ones that survives. That is all thanks to you, I have never learned bushcraft/survival from anyone on youtube more than you. I hope that one day I can teach people all of the skills that you have taught me.
Thank you again for showing your mistakes. We all learn from them and I wish more people wouldn't feel threatened by showing them. I look forward to seeing how you work out the solution to it.
I'm not sure what you mean. All I am saying is that I enjoy all of your videos and look forward to them each week. This was different and interesting with the 'foundry in the field'. Also, them frogs seem huge - I reckon we'd need to eat about 10 in the UK for the same feed.
First: Happy Father's Day. Glad to see you successfully combined small parts from other videos you've done and made one very outstanding video. It gets better every week. Thank you for all you do.
If just like to thank you for the time and effort you put into making the videos. I have learnt a great deal from the content you post. I'm not military but do love using surplus gear for my trips into the woods. Keep doing what you do and never give up.
Love this man! So many do multiple takes, cut out the mistakes and pretend like they stuck a Triple Lindy on the first attempt. You admit the issues, mistakes and where you can grow. Thank you!
Shawn, that was awesome! When you learn by doing - we also learn, by observing! And by the way, your followers (i.e.: Legions") do not "troll", there is no purpose in that. Cheers Mate, your time & effort, are very much appreciated!!
Thank you for sharing your process along with the mistakes, this is how we learn and I appreciate all the hard work you put in to all of your builds. I have medical issues that make it nearly possible for me to go out and do the kinds of things you do and so I really enjoy getting to go along with you every week, so thanks also for the chance to live vicariously through you! Keep it up!! 🙂
Not exactly sure about all that troll stuff. I couldn’t imagine why anybody would want to troll anybody else in this group. Got nothing but respect for you and the things you do. Appreciate you I learned so much from watching your channel. Keep up the good work thank you
Duties kept me from watching the last two videos; glad I got the time to circle back and catch up. Amazing how creative the Corporal is...never get tired of watching!
I love your content. I get trolled too and all I'm doing is basic camping! I wish I had your skills, knowledge and perseverance. Like you I'm just trying to produce quality content and have some fun along the way.
I enjoyed this video and noticed something.. things that you teach and have taught are becoming instantly recalled . It's like I almost know what you might do next. That's an amazing feeling for an old veteran like me with an ever fading memory . Thank you so much!
Outstanding video and effort. I think to many people fall into a stagnant complacency. The fact you are willing to evolve adapt and overcome, to try new things shows grit, and intelligence with a constantly evolving world. You've given me so much knowledge for going out and having a great time outdoors with my family. Keep up the Outstanding af videos brother.
Sir you never cease to amaze me! Let's just go out and cast our own weapons and hunting tools! Just in awe is all I can say! Thank you for all you do! I know I say that every week but you give us a thank you every week you deserve one too!
Huntsman best explained how certified the corporal has for bushcraft when he began to extract those certificates from the seminars that the corporal received upon completion. Corporal just keep working, there are a lot of people who appreciate your knowledge and work.
Thank you for a Classy video. We always Love watching your channel. Good instruction and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Happy Fathers Day to you Sir.
Now, I was not aware of what was going on, so I had to go watch and see for myself. Kind of a weird experience. My first thought, based on looks, was addict or addict in recovery. Second thought was awkward. It seemed fake, set up and phoney. Conversation with "buddy" seemed everything but genuine. How it ever got to that amount of subs is beyond me. Anyway, keep up the damn fine work in your vids, and keep on keeping it real :-)
I've seen people have far less success casting aluminium with a full workshop and all the time and tools they could want. Truly impressive, one might even say outstanding, AF.
Love the vid. Simple shelter for you, but complex for most people. Excellent bushcraft skills and keeping it real. No retakes, just roll with it. Frog legs do not taste like chicken, but hot sauce makes most things better. Rise above and keep up the outstanding work.
That was cool, haven't frog gigged FOREVER!!! You do different things for whatever your reason.i watch ur channel like I watch TV shows such as diy home improvement, or hot rod , hunting etc..I'm entertained and I always learn something new..to me personally the outdoors is about a mindset, and what you do out there. Shelter, water, food , hunting ,etc. You cover all the bases and ur not condescending. Thank for the great work. Can't wait for the next one. Semper Fi!!
You know I did come across some idiotic things not to long ago. While what was said and done is truly infuriating, giving a troll more attention only gives them the reinforcement to keep doing it. Anyone with half a brain knows that you're a man of your word and truly legit. The video was outstanding af as per usual. Keep up the great work Corporal. Semper Fi!
only just found this channel because im getting back into camping. i grew up in the 80s, and spent all my time camping. god how i miss it. very inspiring channel and i enjoy the hard work you put in. keep it up.
First time I've seen frog gigging, thanks for another skill set demonstrated. Appreciate your leadership too, Shawn, this world needs daily examples of how to conduct oneself. Love God and your neighbor. Semper Fi
Just heard about joe robinet I stopped watching him a least a year ago as far as I’m concerned your the best out here I always said & you can look back tgat you are the hardest working man on TH-cam so I’m sticking with you & everything you do thank you for everything 👍🏻👍🏻

I know there was an Iron age and A Bronze age, but I don't remember the Aluminum age.
@@joecraigslist9467 It was just before the age of plastic.
Yup...that's true...
Your awesome..your like a scientist kind of person..I love that...cool
Thank you for your service! Please keep building your "Bacon-wrapped" Overnight Builds with tons of bushcraft nuggets. Love your consistent, blue-collar work ethic.
Is there any bushcraft this guy DOESN'T know? Gotta be hands down the most knowledgeable bushcrafter on YT.
thanks please tell YT this
Honestly bro, people may hate and sh** here and there but if the world ends, I am proud to say that I will be one the ones that survives.
As I have said before, you are one of the best instructors I have encountered. This was an excellent instructional video. God speed.
I watch every week and YT never misses sending me a notification. Love this bush tech and frog hunt episode - good to change it up. Corp AF.
is the point to be faster? or are my videos about bushcraft?
I'm not sure what you mean. All I am saying is that I enjoy all of your videos and look forward to them each week. This was different and interesting with the 'foundry in the field'. Also, them frogs seem huge - I reckon we'd need to eat about 10 in the UK for the same feed.
First: Happy Father's Day.
Glad to see you successfully combined small parts from other videos you've done and made one very outstanding video. It gets better every week. Thank you for all you do.
Went all out on this one. Great job
Once again...OUTSTANDING...Freedom for all people...
Happy fathers day you are a good father
If just like to thank you for the time and effort you put into making the videos. I have learnt a great deal from the content you post. I'm not military but do love using surplus gear for my trips into the woods. Keep doing what you do and never give up.
Great video, happy Father's day!
Love this man! So many do multiple takes, cut out the mistakes and pretend like they stuck a Triple Lindy on the first attempt. You admit the issues, mistakes and where you can grow. Thank you!
Thank you for showing the smelting molding skill.
Corporal, a knife, and some paracord, and there is absolutely nothing that can't be done! 👏👏👏
Keep up the good work thank you
Hi
Duties kept me from watching the last two videos; glad I got the time to circle back and catch up. Amazing how creative the Corporal is...never get tired of watching!
Very good work. Great to see something a little different but you adapted and overcame. Outstanding !
I love the fact that you do so many raised shelters, i don't see allot of other people doing them.
True
Sir you never cease to amaze me! Let's just go out and cast our own weapons and hunting tools! Just in awe is all I can say! Thank you for all you do! I know I say that every week but you give us a thank you every week you deserve one too!
As long as you keep making vids I'm going to keep watching. Outstanding as always.
I liked the leading bye example, very good representation of gigs. Top of the game!!!
Happy Father's day Kelly. God bless
And Now you're a metallurgical genius too.... it just gets better.
Bacon makes it a meal!!!!
Another great video. Congrats on passing the 700k subscriber milestone! A million is within reach!
I totally about the "leadership by example"! and I was facinated by your frog gig
Great stuff! Comment for the algorithm.
Anyway, keep up the damn fine work in your vids, and keep on keeping it real :-)
my new favorite part of my week a new corporals corner video
I've seen people have far less success casting aluminium with a full workshop and all the time and tools they could want. Truly impressive, one might even say outstanding, AF.
I appreciate the effort of showing how to get it done whilst in the thick at camp. The sauce was epic too! 🤣
Clever! And interesting to watch!! Thanks for making it a unique channel!
Love the vid. Simple shelter for you, but complex for most people. Excellent bushcraft skills and keeping it real. No retakes, just roll with it. Frog legs do not taste like chicken, but hot sauce makes most things better. Rise above and keep up the outstanding work.
Happy fathers day!
Semper Fi!
only just found this channel because im getting back into camping. i grew up in the 80s, and spent all my time camping. god how i miss it. very inspiring channel and i enjoy the hard work you put in. keep it up.
You the man, Shawn! Love learning from your videos brother.
First time I've seen frog gigging, thanks for another skill set demonstrated. Appreciate your leadership too, Shawn, this world needs daily examples of how to conduct oneself. Love God and your neighbor. Semper Fi
Outstanding AF. You are inspiring brother.
Another great vid, thanks. Super impressed with smelting aluminium, even if it didn’t turn out how you wanted. The fact you did it in the bush 👍
Always educational! Thank you.
Just wanted to say I LOVE your channel. Never the same content 2 weeks running. Thank you 🥰 love from the UK 🇬🇧
Just heard about joe robinet I stopped watching him a least a year ago as far as I’m concerned your the best out here I always said & you can look back tgat you are the hardest working man on TH-cam so I’m sticking with you & everything you do thank you for everything 👍🏻👍🏻
So what is the deal with Joe R trolling Shawn Kelly? I must have missed something.
