Jordan 1's are my favorite Jordan hands down. However having said that, its the "newer model" that I love. I can appreciate the 85 version and the history and whatnot but I don't like the overall shape of it. Same with the 2001 and the 2013. I don't like the shape or materials on thoes. I think it was the Chicago's in 2015 that they started this new version. And then the UNC's after that, and then every subsequent version since. I love the new version. They're so comforable. I love the shape. I'm not a fan of the straight back I love the cerve. I remember back in 2013 when the Chicago's came back for the first time since 1994. I was so hyped, but that version is so horrible. They're so narrow and long. The leather is like plastic and they're so uncomfortable. Plus the long leather tongue, and the Jumpman on the tongue and on the back. And the Wings logo on the box. (which the Wings logo on the box isn't all that bad, I don't mind it.) But I just love the black and red Nike box. Its so dope. So yeah, I'm not a fan of the '85 shape. Not a fan of the 2001 or the 2013 and the long tab on the back or the Jumpman logo and the horrible leather tongue. But every pair since the 2015 Chicago's I absolutely love. The UNC's, the Bred's, the Storm Blues, Yin Yangs, Black Toes, All Stars, the Royals. I love this shape and this make of the 1s. They're so comfortable. The Jordan 1 was never my favorite model until I got the Chicago's back in 2015 and I love almost every pair since then. So when I say the Jordan 1 is my favorite, I mean from 2015 and on. I don't really like any of the versions before 2015.

On feet the 2001 are the greatest you not a fan cause you don’t have slim feet the first Jordan 1s couldn’t fit a out of shape or fat foot person that’s life
the 01s are basically a prototype sb dunk high, just with little/no underfoot cushion & a slim tongue. I dont get your gripes with em beyond superficial stuff like the cut. I have a pair of palaminos the same size as my 01 breds & the height is the same. The 01s just have a slight dip at the heel, & with the ridiculous ankle padding it fits amazing. The leather's better too. Definetly not in a softness sense, but it's a thick cut. It holds up much better than 90+% of stuff nowadays. That face box era of jordans up to 2005 had the best quality, tho the quality control could be just as ridiculous shape wise
Only time ive ever folded the jordan 4 tongue to show that upside down patch was with my cool greys. The left tongue was cut shorter & the flight tag was stitched as far right as possible lol. Only thing i dont like about the 01s is that nike doesnt bring the shape back as the jordan 1 sb standard
2013 is the best

I definitely agree with you there about the screen printing on the insoles. Air Max's typically have a much longer lasting screen print. I beat my Air Max 90's everyday for the past 3 years and its still there for the most part. COME ON JORDAN!
First time viewer, here due to the tumbled leather inconsistencies. Great stuff, and also copped my pair from lapstone & hammer after discovering them recently, they're a great shop! Keep doing what you're doing and I'll be sure to keep up with your posts!

Do you know how the 1985 and 1994 fit compared to the 2001 and 2016? I'm a true size 11.5 for modern retro's and I had to go a half size up for the 2001's and they fit me well. I'm looking for either a pair of 1994's or 1985's and I'm not sure what size to get.
1985 is stiff so I’d suggest a half size up. The leather needs to be reconditioned. The 94 is true to size and same with the 2016s.
Theres a 3rd way the laces come as well, just sloppily stuffed in the lace bag 1 of mine came from finishline.com
Did your pairs come in like they were worn? I ordered 2 pairs and the insoles on both pairs look like they were tried on. There was no "smudging on the "NIKE AIR AND SWOOSH" just a bit of residue of some sort throughout the insoles of the sneakers.

I copped 3 pairs. 1 from footlocker 1 from footaction and 1 from nike. pair from footaction came with the rolled laces

why is the shape of 85 1s so much more different than other years is it just the molds were different if did people have fat feet😭

I feel like you needed the Air Jordan 1 'Royal' from 1985 in order for to do a true comparison.
What would've been the difference other than the color? Same model from that year and release time. I thought it was a fair comparison to produce.
The condition could be a factor. Fair but not the same.

I think that is a typo. Try negotiating.
I got 3 pairs. Two from Footaction (10.5 and 11.5) and one directly from Nike. All 3 had the rolled up laces. I was soooo disappointed when my Nike pair came in with the rolled laces today! smh

dope ass comparison. restored and did a sole swap of the banned 2001 the leather is harder or more sturdy which I like as well as the thick padding. these 2017s are nice and smell nice too

My royals came with the rolled laces and some type of defect I think on the heel of 1 shoe, I got it from Fashion valley foot locker, it is kind of stripes or something like it was rolled to shape the heel part or something, it doesn't bother me too much, but I was kind of bummed.
+foregus did you get to check if other pairs were like that as well? I picked mine up at Mission Valley.
I did not, I was in a rush and did not check my pair until I got home, I had to work that day and was rushing, was just happy to win my pair, I mean I intend to wear my pair,and really not that picky on my shoes, but i def should have asked to see other pairs and maybe change it if possible..

I was pissed bcuz I got the smoother leather on the toe box and not the tumbled leather. Purchased from Nike . I was disappointed
Didn't get mine from Nike, but just one of my toeboxes is tumbled a lil...other hardly at all

I put a small square of clear duct tape over the nike air on all my pairs that have it so that it doesnt go away lol
+Fares old school trick. I don't like doing that because if you rip the tape off later, it comes with it.
Fares i change the insole wif a custom insole to make it more comfortable

When comparing the 2013 to 2017, I think the 2013s are better in both fit and material.

Contrary to what people have been saying, the material and fit of the 2013 mold fits better for me. It‘s also, very durable. Unlike the soft leather that were used on the Black Toe 1s last year. Those were terribly soft.
I disliked the material on the 2016 breds and these royals because the material wrinkles when you touch it, and they show water spots when wet. You can tell, they basically put a layer of color, over cheaply made material.
+mogtrader8 love the materials on the 2016-17. You should really TH-cam differences in leather, the tanning process, split vs top grains, etc. water spotting on leather means that it's the REAL deal. If it's something you enjoy, you can use waterproof sprays but as far as softness of leathers, if you prefer 2013, all the power to you.
MJO23DAN exactly lol he basically just said he prefers plastic over leather. Wrinkles, water spots, etc is describing real leather, not cheap leather. How they fit your foot is up to you but material-wise there's no comparison
