I know what you mean. I almost bought it when it was selling for $389, glad I waited. I'm about to order it any day now. Did you know that this is the clone of the Roland SH-101 ??? I'm not really a keyboard player, so I didn't know.
Picked one up from Alto Music selling on Amazon. At $199 I had to get this Synth. Did I really need it, no. Did I really want it….. YES. There is no other Analog Mono Synth out there that sounds like this. If you can still find one for sale out there Grab It!!!
I can confirm MK2 arrived. It's so good to have all the sliders and see instantly what the settings are. I have an S1 but I don't get excited. It's too painful to program. Now I'll find the sounds I like and then program some of them into the S1.
I bought one for £120 ,it said it didn't work on his adapter ( spares or repair) so I took a chance then got it and plugged it in and it came on straight away with flashing lights , plus it was immaculate , chuffed.
I had one of these, and stupidly fried it (I think) with an incorrect PSU. The LED comes on (dim), but doesn't sound now. I would like another SH-101 clone, but think I'll probably head for the new Roland S1 mini synth. It actually sounds surprisingly good (quite a few reviewers have remarked on how close it sounds). The only major downside is the connectivity and Hobbit-sized controls.
Hey I’m completely new to synths, I’d love to make music similar to ebm. What synth would you recommend for that specific genre (either the author of the video or someone who knows what’s up), also whats something I should know before I buy one? I’d really appreciate some help. Awesome video by the way.

@@fortheloveofnoise I ended up getting moog sub 25 on sale. do your patches work on it? I first thought patches worked on everything then I saw a webiste with patches that only worked on one specific synth
Yea, insane for the price. But I will probably go with the Boutique for the poly option of 4 voices, small footprint, and small power needs. I used to have just 4 keyboards and a rack full of modules in the old days, but really like the micro-mini keys the best. Micro keys don't take up much space I can sound design with them, and then MIDI play the synth from one of my high end keyboards. Roland gives us the option of adding these micro keys too. Nothing worse than having an old synth that still functions but the keybed is broken, lots of space used up for nothing. Combining keybeds with a synth today doesn't make sense unless it is a giging board, otherwise we should be able to choose the keybed action/length we love and match it to the synth engine we love.
4:04 the saw wave here, and the sub wave a couple of seconds later, are cracklin' like oat bran. Hopefully you merely lost containment somewhere along the way, instead of it being an oscillator issue. I also wasn't really keen on the noise modulation sounds just prior to this part. I know you exaggerated the amount for a demo, compared to normal subtle use, but I didn't like the basic quality so much, and I love distortion sounds, usually. Maybe if the levels were dialed back some. Really, I'd get the SH-5 clone before this one, from what little I've heard from that one, and seen of the panel.
Yeah… that description applies to every synth and music tech manufacturer ever… do you really think that the likes of Roland, Yamaha, Korg, Sequential, ARP, Oberheim… and every other maker… didn’t copy everyone else. Just wake up and stop bitching about behringer bringing out synths that people actually want to own at a price they can afford. No one is stopping Roland remaking and selling an SH101 at the same price or cheaper…
Roland, Yamaha and Korg ran Sequential, ARP and Moog to the ground in the 80s, because the latter companies simply didn’t pay attention to the changing tides. It’s essentially the same thing going on today with Roland, ironically. I waited for many years for Roland to do something interesting with their instruments, only to be let down by the Boutique range that they’re still persisting on today. Not like they’re suffering, though. They have plenty of other irons to keep them afloat.

I'm kinda stoked for the MS-5. Behringer is very hit and miss, but the feature set on that synth for the price is pretty attractive.
I own the ms-1 and will be getting ms-5 for sure nasty combo.
Can’t think of a single Behringer synth that’s a miss and the MS-1 is a phenomenal synth/great value for those needing a mono synth.
The step setting on the arpegiator does not work on my MS-1 and I know a lot of others have the same problem. Has anyone found a solution?
Yes. I have the same problem. The arpeggiator is only useful if I can control the length.

Yes the MS-1 mk 2 is listed on Thomann now but 235 Pounds but not in stock yet.
