    For me, the small backseat in my third gen was too small for car seats. I had to scoot the passenger seat up to fit my oldest son’s front facing seat. When we had my second son, his rear facing seat took up even more room. I’m 6’2”, so the leg room I had with the seat all the way back was perfect, but with the car seats, I had to sit much further up.
    Ultimately, I ended up having to let it go and get a Tundra.
    I am a true blue Tacoma enthusiast, but they’re just not great if you’re taller and have to tow kiddos around in car seats.

I got the OTT tune which made a big difference but there's still no low-end torque which is inexcusable in a truck.

    • @alexs825
      @alexs825 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DeuceDeuceBravo yea but they extended the wheelbase and made it wider with no travel increase. Already the truck is too long for off-road stock, lifting and 35s was really helpful to not turtle all the time. Imo gears are not expensive. Just most will put $3k of lights on their rig and not regear. It’s only a bit more than a front bumper these days. If you can do the labor it’s less than a grand. Most who complain about the 3.5L torque have their trucks severely overloaded which is your own fault. Should’ve known when going 1,000 pounds over payload. I’ve never needed more torque most the time just need lower gearing and this new gen doesn’t have a 4:1 transfer case option so not really gonna improve much. Maybe with the larger rear diff you can run something lower than 5.29s but will take 5 years probably for those to get released

    My biggest drawback with this truck is the Turbo 4 banger hybrid. I know Toyota has been making engines for forever and they're very reliable so I'm not super concerned with the engine, however, when you add a turbo and a battery component it just adds to the inevitability of having big issues down the line. I know they're trying to please the EPA, but they really should have just put in a turbocharged V6. This truck just won't have the same reliability as the other generations so I'm hesitant on buying. Love the exterior though.

    • @icosthop9998
      @icosthop9998 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      My thoughts exactly.
      Toyota uses the excuse of gas emissions. Nissan Frontier still has a V6
      The Honda "Ridgeline" still has a V6
      You can still get the Chevy "Colorado" with the V6.
      ( I do not know about the ford "Ranchero") 🤷🏼‍♀️ ?
      But I say , for sure, Toyota's excuse is pure *"Bull-💩💩💩"* !❕️!

      @@icosthop9998well it's not bs. Nissan is going to be behind EPA with no data on turbo engines. This is the start of the Tacomas i4 turbo. Their other turbo CUV, SUVs have been proven to be fairly more reliable than it's competitor.
      NA is definitely easier to work on but knowing turbos enough especially modern ones, they can be reliable. My sister's i4 turbo accord has had 160k miles problem free.
      Regardless, the old v6 was gutless. You forget Toyota is conservative, so they aren't going to push power beyond engine limitations compared to other manufacturers

    • @MrMikeDao
      @MrMikeDao 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@icosthop9998but if you want old school then buy other old school trucks. I'm definitely buying this TRD Pro, they did the new generation right to be a part of the future and not the past like Nissan especially if you're going to pay new car price. Makes no sense to pay 45k minimum on antique technology. I have no problem with Toyota and Honda Turbos.

      @aerynlovell4754 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@icosthop9998Putting a 4-cylinder in a compact car or SUV makes sense but not in a truck. A truck needs enough horsepower/torque and displacement to carry cargo and pull a trailer without working the engine too hard. GM claimed that customers wouldn't miss the 6-cylinder gas engine or 4-cylinder diesel in the Canyon/Colorado because the 4-cylinder gas engine was supposed to produce similar horsepower/torque and get better fuel economy. The 2024 Tacoma only gets 24 MPG on the highway. In Australia, the Ford Ranger is available with a 3.0L V6 diesel that makes 443 LB-FT, 247 HP, and gets about 28 MPG. John at LHT Performance put the V8 and 6-speed automatic transmission from a 2020 Silverado into a 2020 Colorado and got about 28-30 MPG on the highway. If the V6 and V8 get better gas milage in a mid-sized truck compared to a 4-cylinder, then what is the point of the 4-cylinder? th-cam.com/video/m2qExaEwn0g/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XEheKXQ6ekWnyG4A

      Majority of people looking to buy a tacoma trd pro or a tacoma trd off road aren't going to buy a tundra. You pay a premium for a capable offroad truck off the lot with 326hp and 465 ft lbs of torque.This is one of the most capable tacomas in every aspect they've ever made stock. Judging by these shows they even seem durable and reliable while extreme offroading. Rather replace a battery or turbo in 10 to 15 years than drive a weak gutless torqless v6 that could break too at some point. Nobody that's serious about offroading is buying 70k to 90k full size that's less capable as the trd pro tacoma. Wish the prices were better but man this is the best tacoma I've ever seen. I might wait for 2025 or 2026 model but I will test drive the trd pro tacoma and if it's as perfect as I think I'm going to buy it if the pricing works out for me. I was a fullsize truck guy myself even thought midsize trucks were inferior but I think the 2024 trd pro taco is better than the trd pro tundra. Probably more reliable too and better for offroading. We will see though.

  • @Meflakcannon

    My only issue with the newest gen Tacoma is the 4 cylinder block. The turbo charging gets the power up to where the v6 was or higher, but the long term durability feels like it will be lower with that block exposed to higher pressure and heat for longer than just having the v6. You see a huge number of the 4 cylinder turbo'd engines getting put on the used market at around 80k+ miles. Disproportionate to previous generations of the same car and or truck. I feel like, and can't prove as it's a gut feeling, that the 4cyl turbo'd truck engines will end up being drastically lower in reliability long-term.
    The new seats though.. gawd damn I want.

    "Waste of time and money" I'll stick to my 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport V6 3.5L, power seats with rear leaf springs and a 21.1 gas tank and rear window. The new 2024 Tacoma only has a 18.1 gas tank wich it means more gas stops on long trips. By the way leaf springs brings more stability and capacity load to a truck when towing and stronger (weather), suspension especially on the rust belt states. If I want to buy a sport car then I buy a Toyota Supra. Finally Turbo charge engine don't last as much as regular engines and they are way more expensive to maintain due to more mechanical parts involved.

    I have a 23 TRD Pro. I wonder if Toyota is still making the new model with incandescent interior lights, no electronic tail gate lock, badly located bed tie down anchor points, no heated steering wheel, uncomfortable seats, and a ridiculously short travel telescoping steering wheel suitable only for people under 5'10". I see a lot of bells and whistles for marketing purposes, but I doubt they fixed or even understand what the real issues the truck has.
    The only way they could address the abysmal fuel economy was to put an overworked 4 cylinder in it. I'm getting about 16mpg in my '23. I had a 2000 Durango with a V8 that was getting 13. In 20+ years, with a smaller engine, Toyota only figured out how to get another 3mpg.
    Shock adjusting seats is marketing. The real question is can someone 6ft tall sit in that thing for more than an hour. I can't in my '23.

    Hi Chloe you are my go-to expert for all things Tacoma. I wonder what advice you would give me as I'm considering a sport versus an off-road. I live in Hawaii not a lot of off-roading just some sand in a few mud puddles here. However it seems that both vehicles are priced relatively the same so I'm thinking even if just for resale value I should get the off-road. Most of my driving will be on the street Don't know which way to go. Any advice is appreciated

Their cars are for pure normal life pleasure... everyone complains about how expensive gas is and still complain about why it is a electric motor engine 😆. And how many of us buy an off road truck and really run off road with it 😅 if i can bargain to buy an TRD pro at 53-58k$ range. I would own one.... It is a nice, comfortable and practical truck.... and it is Toyota so it will last for years 😍
