On today's episode we took an EPIC Red River trip where we extracted Ammonites from cliffs with a great group of friends to an undisclosed private area , where we found TONS of Ammonites, Echinoids, fossilized fish vertebrae, Turritella's, Gastropods, among other things! We were VERY surprised by the quality AND quantity of our finds on this trip! Come along with us, we hope you enjoy this video!

One of the things I like about TH-cam is the ability to see how the geology and fossil record differs across the world. It always makes me smile when someone refers to a "little" Texan ammonite - the little ones here on England's Jurassic Coast are less than half an inch!

I’ve also seen the palm sized ones from the UK found in round concretions… I’m so tempted to buy a few and prep them myself! The rock in my area is Ordovician age, so 440-480 millions years old, so I never see ammonites

@@PokemonAdventures009from the green ammonite nodules? Some of my favourite specimens, they’re most common around Seatown, just east down the coast from Charmouth. A fair amount of them are empty unfortunately, so buying them unprepped would entail a bit of a risk.

@@mosmarb I think so! Mm, maybe I should plan a trip to cross the pond and look for stuff. I’ve always wanted to visit

@@PokemonAdventures009definitely, it probably wouldn’t be much more expensive than shipping the nodules over! The green ammonite member is quite narrow but there’s plenty more to find all the way between Lyme Regis and Burton Bradstock, from the Sinemurian Jurassic right through to a little early Cretaceous material (so very different from your home geology).

Great video! Its been 50 years since I have climbed around on those bluffs. I had no idea there were vertebrae to be found though. I had always gone to the first and second bluff and had never been to the third one. Great drone views of the area. One can really see how tall the cliff is. Great finds. The detail in the ammonites is amazing.
