In this video we show you how to replace the timing chain that is fitted to a Toyota 1.4 D-4D engine. For the purpose of this video we have removed the engine from the vehicle to provide a clearer view of the process required.

@@boratsmagadijev940 a chain will outlast a belt and save a fortune in labour costs, a chain oastsx100k a belt may be 50£ but labour is 300 and nneds to be done 4x as often

Thank you for watching our video and your positive comment. A engine timing chain generally does not have a replacement interval. The longevity of any moving metal part of a engine relies on regular maintenance and the use of quality engine oil.

@@BluePrintCarParts thanks mate 👍 I changed the oil every 12000kms maximum and every time change a oil filter and fuel filter also the normally i never pass a 3000rpm mostly of kms i made here in Norway we don't have a traffic rules for driving over 90kms/h!(55mls/h) 🙂 the more worst here in norh of Norway is a lower temperature in winter time so i use a 0W30 in winter and 5W30 in summer 😀 happy new year and keeping make a great vedeos 👍👏

Blue Print recommends if the timing chain is removed for replacement or as part of an engine repair. All components such as guide rails, chain tensioner and sprockets are inspected and replaced when replacing a timing chain to ensure perfect function over the chain’s entire service life.

How do you lock the cam shaft and crank shaft in place?

Thank you for watching our video. There are no locking pins used on this engine, only the holding tools used to stop the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys from turning, when loosening or tighten the retaining bolts as seen in this video.
