    The moose bone doesn't surprise me, considering just how big and heavy those suckers are, it makes senses their bones can take a lot of load

      old and dry without marrow/tendons/ligaments etc is really impressive though.

      @@nuck- that's what I said. A live bone would be nearly impossible to break from that angle xif it had all the zupport around it. Nature is crazy.

      Ten metric tons in compression though? That's a lot even for a moose.

      If a little pressure is applied to the tail, the drop will shatter.

    • @Patrik6920
      @Patrik6920 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@cocomunga ..yup...someone made a video of ruperts-drops...how thay shatter... was interesting see... laws of physics can at times be counter-intuitive... its the shape and how forces are distributed and canceling eachother out almost completely (if its a perfect drop and material)...

    • @everythingsalright1121
      @everythingsalright1121 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its basically because the way in which the drops are formed results in a very densely compacted ball of glass with a lot of tension (hence why it shatters when the tail is snipped, its releasing the tension like a rubber band snapping back)

    Seeing the carbon fiber today just gives a little insight to why using it on the Titan submersible was a bad idea. Took hardly any pressure for it to start cracking and deform compared to the immense pressure it took so many thousands of feet under the ocean surface.

    A couple idea's.
    1) here in the US it's become more common to be able to buy freeze dried candies example skittles give them a whole different texture.
    2 parts to this (a) freeze dried candies compared to original and (b) the stringers made by the squished skittles will the freeze dry the same way.
    Next thought some larger animals ( like deer ) have a few teeth that are ivory are they stronger ( obviously youd have to find a hunter in your area that would give so.e to you ) or maybe import a few but you need to see if you'd legally be able to do that.
    Last idea in coal mining the use special bits that have carbide ( I think ) tips test those against the AR500
