Of course. Then I remembered Beejlander and I knew this would be good
I said "I don't know what that is but I need it" out loud, and I'm alone.
I assumed it was some variant of BEEJlander and clicked immediately.
Having recently binged a bunch of these and remembering Beejlander I hoped desperately it was Planechase but with custom places Beej thinks planeswalkers would go like: Tatooine, The Shire from the Lord of the Rings, the moonbase (both on the moon and the LRR one), and Seamus's local pub on the corner of 5th street and Maple.
Holy shit, it kind of is that.
The whole "Beej makes MtG better merely by not knowing how it works" thing just has so much legs still. Can't wait to see what it'll spawn next.

Relevant note about Akroma: her ability happens at the beginning of EACH combat, not just your combat - a certain play where Serge drew 4 cards and gained the monarch might have played out... differently, if Graham had been aware that his 3/3 was actually a 4/4 that combat (because it had partner).

Love that my favorite formats both have Beej in the name.
I feel like "Players may be the monarch more than once at a time." is part of the plane. When you shift away, all monarchs would still be monarchs but multiples would go away. Gaining the monarchy through attacking would then consolidate the monarchy if you already were monarch and becoming the monarch cards would leave you as the lone monarch.

Banding Cheat Sheet:
* X +1 creatures with banding, and ONE CREATURE WITHOUT banding, may attack "as a band" during declare attackers. (Exert is a good reference for timing)
* If any creature in the band is blocked, the whole band is blocked together.
* If you are group blocking a creature, and *at least one* creature with banding is in the group, they're blocking as a band.
* The player who controls the band chooses damage distribution.
That is as simplified as I can make it.

@@Ninjamanhammer Landhome was just too passively bad, they still printed stuff with it all the way to timespiral block though, it simply reads 'this card that's not constructed playable is not constructed playable' nothing much more really.
Banding however actively messed up games, made people not want to play not only with but also against said cards and is generally considered not the weakest ability but the most destructive to the game itself.
If they printed a Landhome thing today worst case scenario no one will want to put it in a deck, if they print a new banding there's a solid chance they'll have to ban it to stop people rage quitting.
Banding is the Oko of terrible abilities.

@@blueplayer6197 I have never heard of people not wanting to play because of banding, it's like saying deathtouch/trample/first strike synergies are too confusing. The blocking or attacking player with banding decides how damage is divided among their creatures, the rest isn't that hard to figure out. Honestly it's grossly overstated how bad it is, look at how Serge overreacts and doesn't even try to understand what is going on (though obviously all permanents having banding is just a dumb joke). You start with how it works basically, and then work from there, but no one bothers to even explain the basics to him.
I'm not even saying it's a good mechanic, it's just dramatically overstated how bad of a mechanic it is.

I legit believe Banding can be remedied into a functioning keyword. I just don't want to be the one to think about it.
@@redundancycheck Banding's biggest problem is that it works differently when attacking and blocking. That makes it counterintuitive to find a good fit for.

Does wanting to see the game where they keep the Banding Emblems make me a monster? Probably. That said, I think banding actually gets easier to understand when all creatures have it.
Well the way they did it was confusing on purpose, and then whoever made it didn't really explain how it should work.

The "build your own planechase deck" varient is each players makes a deck of planes and phenomenons but they shuffle them together at the start of the game into a single central deck.

Hijacking your comment to say the "commander turns into equipment and counts as commander damage" is actually a really cool idea that'd probably actually work in the rules, and would be awesome for a legendary artifact creature with defender, flavoured around being a mechsuit (ie - it's normally just an unanimated mechsuit, but can turn itself into an equipment via an activated ability, then is able to equip onto a creature).
@@andrewsparkes8829 I bet it wouldn't work due to some weird quirk of the exact rules, just as you can't print "Trample" on a lightning bolt, (outside Un-sets) even though everybody understands how that works.

They may need to add to the rules slightly to account for the commander damage wording (simply because attribution of damage doesn't count yet, as no other card has needed it), but in terms of creatures becoming noncreatures, and becoming equipment instead, it all works fine and dandy so long as it isn't a creature by the time it goes to equip.

Turning all of his lands into Black Lotuses (is Lotai the proper plural for this?) and sacrificing them is a very Wheeler thing to do.
My understanding of banding is always just "person with banding decides how damage is assigned." If all creatures have banding, then combat is mostly null and void as long as you have more toughness than power - you can always assign damaged (attacking or blocking) to the high toughness creatures to avoid kills.
Their solution works as well - "our creatures all have banding, let's just ignore banding!" of course I am only at 54:54 so I don't know yet if other permanent or players will get banding.

I have a Wall/Vehicle/Pirate tribal deck that runs Fortified Area, Wall of Shields, Wall of Caltrops, and Baton of Morale, so I am intimately familiar with the glorious mechanic known as banding. It makes a super disgusting combo with things like Wall of Vapor. People who run tramplers hate it when I tell them I assign all of the damage from their 24/24 creature to my wall, reducing it to zero.
I didn't know that what what I really needed in my life was Beejlander and jokes about the first Triumvirate. TIL.

i’m decently new to magic, so i didn’t wholly know how banding works. but now i own a wall deck with three sources of banding. this is one of the many reasons my playgroups hate that deck.

I take particular issue with putting a Man's Romance counter on Halana. I step in as flavor judge here and say that that's just not acceptable.
they sorta made a mistake, that spell that sent akroma to the grave and then removed it from play shouldn't have removed it from play or been a target of the spells second affect, summoning X creature token.
as the affect targets the graveyard and the creature at the same time.. meaning akroma wasn't in the graveyard at the time of the effect to be a correct target for the other half of the spell. meaning Serge shouldn't have gotten 7 tokens and Akroma shouldn't have been removed from the graveyard...

mechanically, because they learned their lesson about multicolor partners just becoming color soup, so all the new Partners are only 1-color.

Why aren't Safi and Hans Partners With is the big question (the real answer is Partners with doesn't work quite as well in a draft set)

No easier way to convince me to click a magic the gathering video than to have the format be something no one has ever played before. That's because I'm a normal person who it's easy to advertise to, and palatable to companies who wish to advertise products. I've never siphoned gas from my neighbors' cars and I have never drawn the blood of my enemies in a fight against another human. You can't say the same for people that haven't watched this sort of video. People who don't watch this video could easily have done either of those things.

Ok, so all permanents have banding just means you can animate your lands and band with them I guess. But the All players have bands with others players could be like the assist variant of banding or: "When a player with banding Declare Attackers, you may declare creatures that are controlled by opponents who have banding and up to one opponent without banding to be in your band as if you controlled them." It'd be funny since you'd attack with their blockers so unless they had vigilance it'd actually play sorta easy it'd tap all blockers. And even vigilance creatures that blocked themselves the attacker assigns damage.
I have always played that you start on a plane. I didn’t realize that when you started the game you weren’t supposed to already be on one.
