I love how he just created a loop of himself "paying attention" to the Wheeler shenanigans so he could just peace off and do whatever.
I saw Wheeler be disappointed with people in the chat about his combo on Twitter. I knew immediately that I should watch the VOD. GIMME DEM SPICY ELABORATE COMBOS! RIGHT INTO MY VEINS!

I'm less than 15 minutes into the video and I've already been laughing so much. These 4 have such chaotic energy that seems to just multiply when they're together. How this game is actually going to finish within a reasonable time with all the jokes and memeing I have no idea lol

He knows it more than Beej (mostly due to not willfully ignoring the rules to Beej's level...), but doesn't really play, as fsr as I know. The first ever Friday Nights arc - that featured him learning the game from the others - was precisely because he didn't actually play it. I'm sure at this point he could pick up a deck and not suck, but he seems happy enough simply manning the tech and knowing just enough rules and lore to interject with pitch-perfect deadpan jokes (like the clarification over which color was picked for Cage Sun in this episode).

He knows the rules, as I also said, and 'could' play, but doesn't play in a regular sense, the way we typically refer to "Magic players". I think he even said on a stream once he couldn't even remember the last time he played. That's more what I was getting at - not that he's never played, but simply doesn't much at all. And even then, he never played "way more" - he's made no secret he only really played the odd draft as something to do with friends who were the ones that really wanted to do it, and has only even owned a couple of non-competitive Standard decks he built up from trades before giving up.
I feel like Crim fit right in with you guys. Personalities and humor meshed so well; it was a pleasure to watch.

4:48 i would like to put on record that it is possible to play stax in Pokemon. It is why Smogon (the Canadian Highlander of Pokemon, named after the german name for Koffing) has so many rules.
How to play stax in pokemon:
-Put all of your opponents pokemon to sleep
-Serene Grace Ability + Flinch + Paralysis
-Prankster + Thunder Wave + Confusion(usually Swagger) (which is why everyone was happy when both status effects were nerfed)
-leppa berry + block + a way to switch items with an opponent + way get an item back + bulky pokemon opponent cant KO (battle continues until someone quits)
I feel like Desert Bus this year, and specifically Night Watch, really left its impact on Ben, and his sanity.
Mismatched lands is the correct way to play commander! We're planeswalkers drawing mana from different planes damn it!

I think people prefer combo over counterspells because combo makes things end where counters make things not happen at all.

Watching Ben overpay for Frantic Search and Foresee earlier in the turn (forgetting his discount) and not have enough mana at the end was so sad.
EDIT: And then Wheeler did the Horse Joke (I totally typed this before Serge said it, and then cracked up) but with Magic cards. Once he had infinite mana, Clock/Pentavus is infinite untaps, and Throne sac'ing Pentavite proliferates a counter back on Pentavus so it's cost-neutral, so he can just proliferate Reactor without any of the later steps.
I felt bad for Ben, I would have reversed it so he could counter the mana drain.

In regards to copying Caged Sun
706.6 When copying a permanent, any choices that have been made for that permanent aren’t copied. Instead, if an object enters the battlefield as a copy of another permanent, the object’s controller will get to make any “as [this] enters the battlefield” choices for it.
Example: A Clone enters the battlefield as a copy of Adaptive Automaton. Adaptive Automaton reads, in part, “As Adaptive Automaton enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.” The Clone won’t copy the creature type choice of the Automaton; rather, the controller of the Clone will get to make a new choice.
If I'm reading this correctly, you don't get to copy the color, nor choose a new one, with Mirage Mirror because the effect is part of the process of entering the battlefield. Mirage Mirror is already in play, so choices aren't copied, and doing so results in a 6 mana artifact with no text on it.

Honestly, this is great. Except that it's a complete and utter mess of value and after nearly an hour and a half, somehow the best two removal spells cast so far are Triskellion and Meteor Golem.

I was expecting Serge to get Mystic Sanctuary with his fetch land. Why else would you run those in a mono colored deck that doesn't care for landfall.

If Crim had Serge's Noodle wizard, wouldn't Gadwick's ability trigger twice for him since he is also a wizard? As in his permanent tapping ability, I can see how that could be missed.
Serge's Naboodle wizard only duplicates enter the battlefield effects of wizards.

I'm very late, but: it doesn't work because it's a linked ability. If you copy a linked ability, it needs to go through the event that sets the first ability (in this case, entering the battlefield) for the second ability (mana stuff) to work.

That mana drain was depressing.
It's mostly annoying that Wheeler could have skipped several steps here and just gotten the Contagion Engine and won with that.
After stealing Ben's sphinx at 1:18:00, shouldn't all his creatures die when they becomes sphinxes due to the legendary rule? Sakashima would lose the mirror gallery effect due to that, after all

Yeah, he made things about seven steps more complicated than it needed to be. My guess is that he forgot he could use the pentavus loop for anything other than infinite mana once it got going, and tunnel-visioned into the "normal" way he's used to looping it.
