This means that Adam MUST start with 1 and unless Ben decides to bid 2 Adam immediately wins with 1 and can't pay 20, though if he does bid 2 Adam can then up it to 20.
So an interaction that should be ever considered, but game 2 was weird AF: After casting Mine Mine Mine, if Ben were to cast The Countdown is at One all players would instantly lose due to having to draw from an empty library, meaning EVERYONE takes double damage. Again.
There is a Pioneer deck out there that runs Possibility Storm. The combo is cast a sorcery adventure card with Possibility Storm on the battlefield, with the only other sorcery card in your deck being Enter the Infinite, cast Enter the Infinite for free, put Borborygmos on top of your deck, cast Hangerback Walker for zero, cast Borborygmos off Possibility Storm, discard all your lands in your hand to blow up your opponent. The combo itself is nested into a Gruul midrange deck so you don't actually have to combo off every game, you can just beat down your opponent with Lovestruck Beast and Questing Beast. It's an incredible deck to see go off because the combo is so janky but somehow playable

Watching for Christmas vibes today and it occurs to me that Ben picked Radha because there wasn't a R/G artifact Commander, but there is as of Dominaria United (Meria, Scholar of Antiquity). So clearly there should be another, belated Christmasmander game in January.
Ben, at 2:10 you could have just won the game. You had a Walking Ballista. Cast it with 2 counters (2 Mana + Ugins discount), kill the Beast before Blockers, Ugin dies, Kathleen dies, you untap and kill Adam through combat.
Disk plus forge with mycosinth lattice out is one of my favorite combos to actually get off! Ok everything is artifacts including lands... now disk :) destroy all your everything and I keep all my stuff... pass turn... lol
I don't think Protection from Everything counts as a keyword. Protection is a keyword itself. But I don't think you get to choose a keyword and a modifier to that keyword. I don't think you could say Cumulative Upkeep of 7 colorless. I know that is an non-legal card so it is probably a grey area.
You do get to choose a modifier with each keyword, but you can't reuse keywords with different modifiers within the same day, as per the gatherer page.
@@ahrenstarr6273 What he should have chosen was Annihilator 6 (from Emrakul, the Aeons Torn) since the Modular Monstrosity is already near impossible to remove thanks to Darksteel Forge.
Maybe I'm missing something, but couldnt Serge have tapped his Goblin Sharpshooter to ping the 2/2 spirit for 2(thanks to dictate), to kill it, untap his goblin sharpshooter and kill another spirit, then a third, then Radha, and only taken the damage from the Myr?

Are there even 300 viable commanders? I guess the answer really depends on how generously you are willing to define the word "viable." I still have to wonder how many repeats would be on that list.
@@Jrodsly well if your budget is a motivating factor, then I would suggest investing in Dominaria as much of the Legendary uncommons are designed to be played in Brawl and while none of them are going to be EDH powerhouses at least they will have several relevant abilities. Also Commander Legends will be coming out at the end of the year and that should make a HUGE dent in your list. I looked it up and there are currently 208 commanders that are considered T3 or better. Now I've been guilty of dabbling in some jank myself, but 92 decks? That seems like it would be hard to stomach. Also my playgroup is very tolerant of silver border cards (within reason) and has agreed to let me brew a Dr. Julius Jumblemorph deck. 😁
Everyone being Red/Green is cool, but I am sad no one gets to play the Santa commander, Zedruu the Greathearted. Give helpful gifts to the nice players and punishing gifts to the naughty players.
Hey!! a simple advice for never shuffeling your commander back into the deck by mistake: just sleeve him / her / it into a different colored sleeve. great vid otherwise, thanks for all your content
While that is practical advice now, it used to be taboo before the change to the tuck rules and many players who started back then have been reluctant to change their ways.
I realized, after watching this once on Twitch, once here, that Serge just didn't think and could have easily survived Ben's attack. Goblin Sharpshooter untaps every time any creature dies, so he taps it, deals 2 damage to ben's 2/2, it dies and goes back to Ben's hand, rinse and repeat for each 2/2 that was attacking.
Um.. don't manifest creatures go to your graveyard like any other creature since they are just colorless, 0-cost 2/2 creatures with no abilities? Not sure how much difference it would have made in game 2 but getting three cards back to Ben's grip does give him more options than just top-deck mode...
An actual manifest creature would have, but Ugin doesn't actually make manifest creatures. He makes 2/2 spirits that have the top card exiled under them, and when they die the card under them goes to hand

My favourite Modular Monstrosity choice is "Cumulative upkeep-Gain control of a land you don't control."
