Personally I dig the X-13 more, but both are killer! The A1 sounds like it might be a little easier getting around the horn (which seeing as you really helped design it, makes sense that it’d be easier for you)! Great sound as always
Uh Oh....You sound really good on the X13 and the A1! That would be a difficult decision if I hadn’t made one already. LOL. The lead stuff pops out more on the Adams. I’m mostly impressed with the player though. :) Nice! These videos inspire me to practice. Thanks
Trent, both horns are beautiful and sound great (yes, I do know that the operator has a huge influence on the sound!!) . The Adams sounds a little more compact and directional and the Edwards sounds a bit wider and diffused (in a good way!). The Adams was far better on the commercial stuff than the Edwards, but if I had to pick one I would probably pick the Edwards. Thanks for the great posts, I look forward to them.
The x13 sounds a bit broader than the A1. There A1 has a wonderful core! Then even with the lead piece the X13 still maintains that broad sound. Both horns are now on my wish list lol
unquestionably a different sound between the two...but I cannot decide which I like better. Oh well...guess I'll just have to keep saving my $$ until I can make up my mind....
Trent, as always, you sound fantastic on anything you pick up. The A1 is terrific, but that X-13....amazing. To me, the X-13 has a little more "presence" than the A1 with the 1.5. The X-13 also seems to be a bit more mouthpiece sensitive, and brightens up more with the TAZ than the A1.
Trent, I notice that your "harmonic pillar" on the X-13 is facing the mouthpiece and not the bell. Have you noticed a difference in the balance and tone if you were to reverse that? I have and wanted to know your observations on that. Also, do you prefer the copper pillar over the nickel pillar and why? Thanks a lot!
oh my goodness!!! Haven't watched the video yet and my heart is racing!!!! can't wait for this showdown as i play the Edwards X-13!
Hope you enjoy it!
they both sound great, but man that x-13 is just a special instrument... I'm jealous! Gotta say how impressed i am with the sound of the adams, though
And for the record you sound fabulous on the X-13
Adams has a purer tone to my ears.

You are way too kind!
I like the Edwards but I'm biased because that's my horn! I prefer without any harmonic pillar.

Cool, thanks for checking out the video and for your insights!

Well said!
Adams is so smooth and creamy. Edwards sounds a bit gravelly in comparison. Two badass horns.
Both horns are superb and I love them both!
As an intermediate player I am probably not worthy of either one of these two fabulous trumpets 🎺....
Don't know how I get this feel, but I feel the Edward has a faster response.

I only got the copper one and just tried the other way and hated it!
It appeared that playing the Adams was bit more laborious than the Edwards. Edwards sounds more like a jazz horn and Adams more for commercial music.
