Be sure to read the description for time codes of all the playing examples! What horn do you prefer? I won't say which one I dig the most but would easily be happy with any of these 3 stellar instruments. What's the next comparison video you'd like to hear?
I am a huge Adams fan, but found that I enjoyed the sound of the Edwards X-13 the most = big, warm, expressive voice. The Thane's sound and the way I heard you play it made me think it was more centered than the A1 and perhaps the tightest blowing of the bunch. The A1 sounded like it was easier to bend notes = more flexible on the chops. All sounded great ... thx for posting. Obviously, you used the (red brass?) tone pillar on the Edwards. In my limited playing experience, that made me think the horn played more like an ML trumpet that when I played it without the pillar. It surprised me how that little pillar changed the entire playing experience.
You sound phenomenal on the X-13 in the last clip with all 3 horns. I could listen to you play that horn all day! The Adams and Thane sound more similar to each other than the Edwards. The Edwards, at least in the last clip, has such a beautiful and unique tone…but not so unique that it loses that traditional trumpet sound. If you ever get the opportunity, I’d love to see a video between the X-13 and a Tumultus. I have an idea what to expect between the two, but it would be awesome to hear you play the two side by side!
I agree with the comment about the Edwards. It has a really nice tone, and is slightly brighter than the others. They all actually sounded great; but I like the Edwards the best. Neil Olson
I mentioned in one of the short videos from the last few days, but I really feel like the A1 genII has so much more core and body. Maybe it's that you're more used to play it, but for my taste, which strives for that more "produced" core (and that's why I play a ML A4), the A1 is totally a whole other world. They all sound "good" of course, but on the A1 just sounds deeper and more cabernet. Without sounding dead or "heavy" at all. PS I don't think there is a direct comparison video between the A1 genII and an A4 LT. I think when you made that whole line up comparison the LT wasn't in stock. It would be dope to hear those 2 head to head!
I agree on Honeysuckle the x13 sounded great but I wonder if in our ears if it was because you were just playing the head for the most part. Over all for me the A1 was the best all-round trumpet. Again I wonder if that’s because it’s Trent’s everyday horn. I will say on the articulations the Thane seem to speak pretty easily.

This was very enlightening. Playing on a trumpet, this was really cool! Thank you for what you do.

I do love the X13! Thanks so much for watching!
The Edwards X-13 is the one for me.

Why did you switch to the A1 from the Copernicus? I liked the Thane but it was really close.
I didn't switch. I play the A1 and Coppernicus often.
I doubt if I should go with Edwards X13 or the latest Yamaha Chicago or New York series… what’s your opinion?
The x13 is magnificent
