    My Aqualung Outlaw (bought in store from Simply Scuba) is now 100+ dives in & still as good as new with no parts failed. Minimalistic true wing design, carries & dives a 15ltr cylinder & pony no problem with drysuit in UK waters, light weight & packs super flat for travel, can be disassembles/reassembled in minutes, invisibly comfortable & has nothing on it that is not needed. Is easy to get on due to the somewhat ridged swivel shoulder straps. A true work of art to admire too. Best recreational bcd out there as less is oh so much more. Will also carry 4kg of fixed lead.

    Mark, you seemed totally giddy with this “unbagging.” Not surprised...Atomic indeed makes premium gear. The hydrophobic coating has the bc dry very quickly out of the water. The over the shoulder dump valve is so easy to adjust the “burp” you make. The ability to so easily remove, reinstall, and ratchet the tank band is brilliant for travel and different sized tanks...it’s incredibly easy to secure your tank. Integrated weight pockets are strong, easy to install and deploy. The collar is luxurious especially in warm water with no wetsuit. The padding throughout makes you feel like you’re being snuggled. Plenty of titanium coated D rings to attach. And more. Personally I dive the jacket style BC1 and absolutely love it. The BC1 has bigger pockets and more D rings so it fits my diving style better. If someone prefers the back inflate, you could do a lot worse than the BC2. Yes, expensive, but as someone else mentioned, it’s just your life; why not use the most premium gear you can afford? Safe diving everyone. 😃

    How does the BC1 do when trying to have good trim and horizontal position. I have only been using xdeep ghost backplate and wings. I won an Atomic BC1 in a raffle with our dive club. I looked and did not find a review from you on the BC1

    Pour Pepsi in your coke glass and just get an XS scuba inflator for $25.
    That’s a bold move to force you to buy the power inflator separately. Especially with a price tag of nearly double a DIR BP/W set.

      This isn't designed for the serious diver. This is designed to be the most expensive BCD on the market. That is a selling point for some. The only research they need to do is sort on price from highest to lowest, and click the top one, because most expensive obviously means best.
      I paid about half the going price of the BC2 for my Apeks stainless steel backplate and harness and 40lbs lift wing, with a PSD coating similar to the BC2. So it's got a K-style inflator, I'm fine with that. Even with the stainless steel backplate it still weighs less than the BC2.

      It's the law of diminishing returns encapsulated in a BCD.
      It's a normal BCD made from exotic materials with minor improvements that triple the cost.
      You can get a cutlery set made from stainless steel, or one made from sterling silver. They both do the same thing, except one is made from exotic materials.

    Hiding the top grab handle is a needless waste of effort. I’ve never been bothered by a grab handle. They’re awesome. There when you need them. In this case, they aren’t there until you exert effort you don’t need to exert.
    BC’s are becoming like modern cars. Loaded with needless nonsense like a top handle storage pouch.

    Price should not be given that much importance in these reviews. First, this is your life you are talking about. Second, it's a premium product. The price is reflective of that. That can, of course, be a consideration after the review but to knock something down to a 7/10 for a secondary consideration isn't fair. Evaluate it as a product, first, then include the price as a things to know before you buy addendum.

    • @scmsean
      @scmsean 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Price is always a factor and these are badly overpriced. My local dealer at 1 time only sold atomic regs and fins. Only in the last 2 years have they expanded to other brands, so they have some cheaper options. Even they don't recommend this BCD.
      Who cares how fast a BCD dry's. I also don't want all the extra features. I want a minimalist BCD that is why I have a backplate/wing.

    • @bloodymarvelous4790
      @bloodymarvelous4790 ปีที่แล้ว

      Price is a major factor when purchasing anything. Most expensive doesn't always mean best. The price is set by many different factors. Materials, build quality, design, where the manufacturer wants to place his product in the market.
      The BC2 is made from expensive materials and is incredibly well made. A lot of thought has gone into the design, and it's designed to be the most expensive BCD on the market. That doesn't mean it's the best though. It's terrible for traveling if you need to travel light. It's completely unsuitable for penetration or technical diving. And there are plenty of BCD's that will do exactly what the BC2 does, only maybe with a fraction less comfort, but equaling or exceeding the reliability of the BC2.
      This BCD costs twice to four times what a "normal" recreational BCD costs, and you're not getting twice to four times better performance out of it. There is such a thing as diminishing returns. At a certain point you pay a lot of money for marginal improvements. That's where this BCD falls.
      The BC2 is designed to be the most expensive, so customers whose only research consists of sorting results from most expensive to cheapest will be able to click the top one. If that's you and you can afford that kind of money, you do you. But if you prefer to research your purchases to death before committing, you won't be buying the BC2.

      I mean...what are you saying? Is it light? Is it small? Will it fit in my luggage? Well, let us flip the question. If you can dive with this BCD at home, knowing full well that you CAN travel with it because it IS small, IS light and WILL fit in you luggage, then WHY would you buy any other BCD for other times of the year? Why not use a travel BCD all year round? Unless of course you are one of the few (and I mean absolute few) who need to connect up to 16 cylinders onto your BCD so you can dive that deep wreck for over 20 minutes... Just buy a BCD that will accept twin tank bands and be done with the rest of it. If you wish to go deeper longer, get a rebreather... and staging tanks where necessary...just in case...

      @@TylerBruber AS an instructor I have been using a travel bCD to teach with for 30 years. Unless you're into cave diving or deep tech...there is NO NEED for anything more than a travel BCD. The more BCD you have the more weight you have to wear and the harder it is to push through the water. I recently changed from my older BCD to a newer 'travel' BCD. Because it has several advanced features which REDUCE BULK I removed 10 POUNDS from my weight belt!!! I say weight belt because half the 'Bulk' reduction was all the plastic and crap that came with 'integrated weights'.

      This one doesn't come with an inflator.
      Oh, yeah, that doesn't explain it either.
      It's the materials used, and that it's designed to appear as the top result when you sort by price (high to low).

  • @Riskbreaker2009

    • @bloodymarvelous4790
      @bloodymarvelous4790 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, because having the most expensive BCD isn't enough for some people. They also want the most expensive inflator, or completely ruin their setup by buying the SS1 (preferably in titanium).
      And let's face it... at that price point, what is another $300~$400.

    I don't see the point of this. Anyone looking for a backplate/wing doesn't want all these extra "features". Why do I care if my BCD dry's in 15 mins instead of 30. BCD already dry fast. My boots are what never dry and fly back wet.
    I'm a GUE diver, so this isn't even close to being acceptable for me.

    • @scubacro5758

      What is your point ? This has nothing to do with backplate and wing, its recreational BCD.
      Who cares about your training ?? I'm CMAS diver, and who cares about that ?
      Do you feel proud that you are not PADI diver or something ? (although they have some very stupid specializations)

    • @scmsean

      @@scubacro5758 backplate and wing is also recreational. It is whatever you want it to be. But you are correct, this is a back inflate not a backplate and wing.

    cuts away to then come back to a new shot of the BCD. Why didn't you just get straight into it? Stop Faffing about and stop with the verbose narration. Just say: "right let's check out the back" turn it over...point out the details comment BRIEFLY on the items there...Tank band, Weight pockets, Tank supporting mounts/rubber inserts that help locate the tank and stop it form sliding, etc.!!!
    then Say: "right let's look at the front" while turning it over...not in three seperate shots of turning it over!!!
