Speaking as someone who got a DDJ400 a couple of months ago just to play around, the only thing about this set is I'm torn as to whether I am inspired or utterly depressed.

I need to specifically comment on this video. So quick story. Was getting into djing in my late teens and into early 20s. After a couple incidents involving hard drive failures and loss of my music, after my house was broken into and my MacBook stolen along with drives, after equipment breaking and being low on funds, I stopped.
Fast forward 13 years later, im 34, at a new low in my life without many interests and no direction.
Randomly saw this video and saw that controller with only one cord... and most importantly saw you tearing it up and you made it look so fun. Ive never even heard of you at that point, yet you Inspired me to get a stand alone (I went with denon prime go). I'm regretting I stopped mixing all this time.
Now fast forward a few weeks, I'm not feeling nearly so low, and I'm realizing I need some pro equipment which I ordered.
You're incredibly inspirational in what you do and how you do it. Thanks buddy. You help people in ways you might not even have considered.

I love listening, and watching James Hype mix. Back in the 90’s, I loved Bad Boy Bill because he was incorporating a lot of his scratching, and DMC DJ battle techniques into his sets, and then all of the creativeness just went out the window. Obviously DJ technology has changed things, but between all of the the old school DJ tricks that are available, mixed with today’s technology the sky is the limit. Unfortunately almost all DJs don’t want to go the extra mile to taking their DJ talent to the next level, but James Hype truly takes it to the next level. He’s also showing us all the new things that are possible in today’s world with all the great technology that’s available to us now these days.

Could you please do a ‘how to’ on this mix? I would like to know what songs and what effects you used so I could learn to do something like this myself. I have a ddj400 controller and I would LOVE to see you explain how you did some parts of this mix with just the ddj400. I’m sure A LOT of your fans would appreciate it too to see ‘behind the scenes’ and definitely with a popular beginner dj controller like the ddj400.
Great awesome mix and we love you very much ❤️❤️❤️

I can certainly say that before the 45 nights (so low I know) that I 've worked as a DJ, I wouldn't be able to apriciate this. Certainly doing the job, makes you realize how perfect this was.

I really enjoyed the mix especially when its cheaper equipment! Bu t I have to say as much as I like James and his style, the signature fader cutting is kind of overused technique in my opinion. Its fine in bigger mixes where it can be like once or twice here and there, but I heard it so many times in 12 minutes that it kind of got really annoying really fast. I don't know..

If you got the skills like James, then its not the gear that define what kind of DJ you are even if you're just af bedroom DJ you can create great transitions and awesome mashup's. That being said the DDJ-400 Controller is one of the best controllers on the marked, so a big thanks to you James for showing that you can great stuff on the small piece of equipment

For all of the comments about him not using headphones, at 10:41 you can see the wires for the in-ear buds he's using behind his head.
Not certain about the lack of RCA's, could just be internal recording only or some Rekordbox routing of the output.
