I live for the day when this woman can post a video without someone commenting on their missing “the old crew”. The new format is refreshing and very enjoyable to watch. I also find it really disheartening that people feel the need on this platform to comment on a woman’s body or mood. Anyone who’s been pregnant can tell you it’s not always a joy ride and the fact that Alison is still producing content at all during this time should be celebrated not ridiculed.
Same! Everyone needs to get over it. Dan and co were a blast and it’s okay to miss them. Commenting on EVERY video to bash the new crew isn’t going to bring the old crew back. Alison doesn’t even live in Brooklyn anymore and the other guys have moved onto other projects. Everyone needs to let it go. Also, I’m pregnant right now and I never could have cooked a giant seafood pasta in my first trimester without gagging and whining the whole time. Hats off to Alison. Pregnancy is ROUGH.
Here's to all the women who got up and went to work even on days when they felt like their feet were coming up through their mouths. Yeah, it's that bad. No sympathy from me.
Seafood pasta is the most beautiful plate of food. Mussels shells are my favorite food to admire next to oyster shells. I like seafood art. Cut to me admiring seafood restaurants that hire interior designers. With the oyster wallpaper and huge seafood bar with lemons everywhere. A piece of heaven for me. + chilled white wine. That’s all I need in life.
Staub braisers and pumpkin 3.5 qt Dutch ovens are on sale on 9/25. The mini pumpkin and artichoke cocottes are also on sale. That's the brand of Alison's magic pot, and the braiser is a similar pan. I'm not affiliated.
Seafood and tomatoes, especially fresh ones like heirlooms in the peak of season. Fabulous with fennel bulb & fennel seed. My kind of dish. You must have access to a good seafood store since huge head-on shrimp like those are pretty much impossible to get where I live.
i've been making a version of this for the past couple of years. I don't caramelize the fennel and I use some jarred Rao's marinara if I don't have fresh tomatoes. Parsley instead of basil. My grocery store has a little packet in the frozen seafood section that has calamari, mussels, clams, and two (never more than two!) jumbo prawns. Perfect little mix. If I have a frozen cod filet I'll add that too. With linguine or spaghetti. It's brothy, it's satisfying without feeling heavy, it's comforting without being too rich.
I do not understand the seafood reluctance assumed in all this, as a Euro girlie I grew up peeling my own prawns and picking mussels out of their shell with another mussel shell! Will def me making this
Every Christmas Eve, my family does The Feast of the Seven Fish… the lobster in red sauce is always the most polarizing. People have strong opinions about seafood mixed with tomato sauce. 😅
I'm definitely taking her suggestion of just the reduced fennel and tomatoes tossed with pasta (because I'm highly allergic to shellfish and salt water fish 😞 ) but I do absolutely love Fennel and Tomato!!! I'd probably eat it over Polenta too! 🙂
I like the tone of this show. Alison's narrative is simply brilliant and inspiring. I'd given up watching for a while because David was so rude to me on here for no reason I could identify. Glad there's a new crew shooting these with more decorum. Alison deserves the best back-up for her talent.
@@neen79I doubt she forgot - it makes it taste better. More layers of flavor. The sweetness of the longer cooking one, the sharp brightness of the fresh one at the end. Garlic two ways!
Two questions re the fabulous looking prawns: can you buy they with the heads and shells on but deveined? Or did you do that prior to tossing them in? I'm bad at that and usually buy deveined shrimp for that reason, but I'm not sure you can get those beauties that way. Second, there's an onscreen note that says 2 pounds of shell on shrimp or 2.5 pounds of peeled. I feel like that's reversed but am ready to hear why I'm wrong.
Not sure you can buy head/shell on shrimp deveined, but I know some people take a toothpick and pierce the shell and a tiny bit of the meat about a half inch from the head and are able to pull the whole thing out.
I miss "the other crew" cause when you talk, nobody is responding. and in the previous crew, I found it annoying and now I miss them. Does that make sense to anyone? By the way, Alison should have many more subscribers with her 3 books by now?
I agree. I was looking forward to Home Movies growing up, but I am sensing a reluctance to "be here" on this one. Yes, there should be more subscribers.
I miss Dan ! I miss the birthday episodes. Don’t think there’s anything wrong with this crew but Alison definitely knew the ppl she was working with in NY better/was friends with them, that definitely made everything feel more playful.
Idk, but I only happened on the channel. I used to watch her on the NYT channel, and I didn’t even know she had started a channel until TH-cam recommended it. Other “fans” might not know either. Granted, I’ve never purchased her books, but I do enjoy her personality and cooking. I also enjoyed the old crew, but I think comments like these are insensitive. It’s like a girlfriend/boyfriend insisting on something that you’re ultimately past.
What is wrong with all the whiners here. Gosh. If you don't like her/her videos/her cooking/her style then go watch something else. Is she forcing you to watch her?
I’m so sorry to say this but you look so much like Whitney from secret lives of Mormon wives, specially when she cut her hair. Looks only, totally different personality.
A pound of pasta feeds 6 people? Thats 75g per person. That only works in any way - and even thats a maybe - if its the primo in the context of a classic italian four course meal. My friends are mostly not big eaters, but women eat 120 g and men 140 - 160 g of pasta on average in my experience. Restaurants usually do at least 100 g portions, which is strongly calculating with appetizer and dessert.
Do the math review, dish is seafood pasta where she has added 3+ lbs seafood and 2lbs veggies to create with 1 lb pasta. So yes, this dish will feed 6 people.
A serving of pasta is 56 grams (2 oz). The American urge to belly up to the trough with every meal is why we're all so fat. I regularly feed 6 people spaghetti and meatballs with 1 lb of thin spaghetti and 1 lb of ground beef. Then we have room for a little gelato for dessert!
Why didnt you emulsify the sauce... it looks like the sauce is at the bottom of the plate and the bare noodles and seafood on top... i would have separated my sauce from the seafood in a colander, emulsified my sauce with the noodles through heating and tossing and maybe a touche of fat, and then plated with the seafood and fresh herbs on top
me too you fucking groopie, im just giving culinary advice i didnt insult her or discredit her. just kind of saw with my two chef eyes that her sauce had disappeared.
Is it me or does it seem like our dear Alison has lost her sparkle? She seems irritated and all business. She doesn't laugh or make jokes anymore. Her old videos were much more light hearted and relatable.
Another pasta dish, how groundbreaking. I know the recipes she chooses to present are those she would actually gravitate to and are "unfussy" and not pretentious but like, give me something else to work with.

I didn't know she was pregnant! So happy for her!
My comment is quite the opposite -- see above.

How perfect. She’s right. I don’t love seafood that much but I DO love pasta.
yes to seafood pasta. every 👏🏽 time 👏🏽

The final result does look gorgeous! The caramelized fennel looked delicious
I developed a shellfish allergy in my 20's but I am still here to watch and make it (without the shellfish!) because in Alison Roman we trust HAHAHA
Seafood and tomatoes, especially fresh ones like heirlooms in the peak of season. Fabulous with fennel bulb & fennel seed. My kind of dish.
You must have access to a good seafood store since huge head-on shrimp like those are pretty much impossible to get where I live.
I’m allergic but I’ll still watch
This looks divine! I love how easy you make recipes feel!

I put leftovers from Alison's tomato poached fish over pasta. Tastes even better a day later!
The wine glug ASMR at 4:50 is really doing something for me, tysm
I love the title of this video. Always great to get an Alison Roman cooking video!!
I do not understand the seafood reluctance assumed in all this, as a Euro girlie I grew up peeling my own prawns and picking mussels out of their shell with another mussel shell! Will def me making this
stop saying girlie idiot
The idea of fennel in a spiced tomato soup with seafood reminds me of cioppino, and it is gorgeous with pasta.
the nigella lawson vhs style end to this video is so nice

Using the entire fennel?? Here for it girl! Is fennel the new dill? 👀
Alison, I support you turning off comments for your future videos. Some people are so comfortable being assholes in public.
Definitely delisch!! Well done Allison!
The t-shirt makes a comeback!
I love your videos. I'm sorry you seem down today. This looks delicious!
This would only be served in a top notch restaurant! Very special!
Looks delish!! I love seafood pasta and am trying to get over my phobia of cooking it at home. This truly was making so hungry watching, making it tn!
GIRLFREN, I LOVE SEAFOOD. I LOVE SPICY. I LOVE PASTA. I ALSO LOVE CAPSLOCK. AND SCRAMPS.
I'm definitely taking her suggestion of just the reduced fennel and tomatoes tossed with pasta (because I'm highly allergic to shellfish and salt water fish 😞 ) but I do absolutely love Fennel and Tomato!!! I'd probably eat it over Polenta too! 🙂
Great video, as usual. Thank you!

Love seafood. Love pasta. Looking forward to trying this out!
yes yes yes to seafood.
Alison, can you share what stone your countertop is? Can’t wait to make this pasta.
Thank you for talking about the fennel bulb. I never know what large means and how to slice that large bulb. This lets me know that I'm on target. :)
Thank you from the seafood lovers 🫶🏾
That looks soooooo good 😊
I love seafood pasta ❤❤❤
Damn. People are entitled assholes over FREE content! Free content that NO ONE is forcing you to consume!
My two favorite things - seafood and pasta
I have never seen prawns like this in any store I visit always boring small shrimp. Looks yummy.
Love your vids 👏
My favorite 😊
Love the recipe, love the music!
Please for the love of everything, tell me where that shirt is from!
its online ceramics
Did she add garlic twice? 1st the smashed garlic with the fennel, then the chopped garlic near the end of cooking the seafood.
Yup. She probably forgot she added it
@@neen79I doubt she forgot - it makes it taste better. More layers of flavor. The sweetness of the longer cooking one, the sharp brightness of the fresh one at the end. Garlic two ways!
Please don’t criticize Alison
Awesome!
Lucky crew.
I love seafood!
I love all things Seafood. I suffer from a case of Irony. I live an hour and a half from the Gulf, but have no Fish Markets anywhere near me.
As a matter of fact I'm making Vongole tomorrow with Canned Clams.

@@ElizabethBingheim Grazie!
Alison has said in other videos that she doesn't bother to devein her shrimp. (That's gross to me, but obviously it hasn't killed her yet!)
Yessss

I’m here again and again for Alison and her amazing, delectable, accessible dishes - not her interactions with the crew which are fine either way

I miss the old Alison …..she seemed more smiley And happy in the city …..❤ hope this is seasonal and she perks up
Was the prawns precooked ?
No
God this was good
❤
Have yall tried green curry mussels? OMG Use the shell to scoop up the green curry as a spoon. I’ve had sex dreams about it.
What is wrong with all the whiners here. Gosh. If you don't like her/her videos/her cooking/her style then go watch something else. Is she forcing you to watch her?
The muscles open when they die.
If you add a small (tea)spoon of brown sugar to the bubbling tomatoes before you add the sea food, it would take everything one notch higher imho. :)
Alison used to be more happy in the city kitchen ❤ she looks irritated recently….. 😢 I hope it’s just seasonal 😊
Shes probably pregnant here and by reading her insta posts, it hasn't been a comfortable pregnancy
yooooo look up parasocial relationships, you might be afflicted. alison is doing great!
She sure do looks irritated
@@SeriousKween well that would certainly explain a lot
She said "Pot" lol
why is alison sitting alone in time out at the end? she doesn't get to sit at the table with the boys?
(i'm joking btw)
Too many antennas for me 🤢
I’m so sorry to say this but you look so much like Whitney from secret lives of Mormon wives, specially when she cut her hair. Looks only, totally different personality.
The hairy stuff is called the “beard” as you correctly called it.

@@tyrnill I'm talking very much out of Europe on the one hand and from a nutritional stand point on the other.
This video kind of triggered me, as I imagine the pasta would be cold by the time she served it up outside.
Prawns with heads…….no thank you😵💫
isnt she pregnant?
This looks so delicious. The ultimate pasta and seafood. I'd work for her just for the food.
I think I detect a bump.
She has confirmed that there is indeed a baby on the way.
she is definitely rushing through here...perhaps one those forced 'i gotta film' smth episodes

SeriousKween is sooo serious 😐

Big no for tasting directly on the spoons and put it back to the pot....while cooking meal for a crew(not family members)...(no hate intended btw)
Good thing this is a cooking show
Must have been filmed ages ago as it just looks like her usual gut instead of baby bump
Can we not comment this way on women's bodies? Gross.
