- Back at the 2018 SEMA Show, Rugged Ridge debuted an awesome new set of replacement daytime running lights or DRL and ones that were specifically designed for a chopped or trimmed factory fenders on a Jeep JL Wrangler or JT Gladiator Truck. Unfortunately, it would take them a whole year to finally put them into production but just as promised, they sent us one of the very first sets for and testing. In this short video, you'll get to see just how easy they are to install as well as just how cool they really look once installed.

A tip you might appreciate, after you cut plastic like you have with the dremel and clean with a file, use a cigarette lighter and gently melt the small furry fibres.

@@scottstirling4298 LOL - what kind of loser goes around on TH-cam looking for every post he can to say who came out with what first. You really need to get a life! And, if you really want to be technical about all this, I knew of these Rugged Ridge DRL's and was told they had a patent pending on them way before I had ever heard the name American Adventure Lab. But really, that's such a moot point. Good for American Adventure Lab for bringing their lights out to market first. Now that Quake and Rugged Ridge have a set out too, maybe the competition will help drive the price point for all of them to come down a bit. That IS the American way after all and good for all consumers.

Interesting that those look very similar to the American Adventure Lab's High Line fender brackets.
LOL - Interesting that I didn't see anything from American Adventure Lab at the 2018 SEMA Show. Heck, I didn't even know who they were until they started selling their lights well after the fact. But really, why it'd raise an eyebrow with you really is beyond me. Quake makes a similar set too - it's called competition and it's a good thing for consumers just like there are a ton of different tires made by different companies and that all kind of look very similar.
@@wayalife Oh.. I think you misunderstood, I was not raising an eyebrow, just commenting that a similar product has been available that has a similar look with a similar front bracket and found it interesting. Similar mindsets can come up with similar idea's, I was not implying anyone was "copying" another design by any means. And it's good we have more choices (we consumers) rather than less. It gives us all a means to customize our rigs the way we want too.

Been looking at a couple other companies who make this kit, but haven't pulled the trigger because like you, I kinda like the JL inners versus what's available at this time. LOL - If these things can't take a little beating, they have no place on my Jeep.
Have considered putting something like these on my CJ along with the front recessed side vents from the JL. Turn my CJ into a CJL.

Yes, they will work and from what I understand, Rugged Ridge even designed these so that you won't get the bulb out error on your EVIC.

This is the video I’ve been looking for coz everyone chops their liners and I don’t want to do that, I will be installing one from Quake next week on my 2023 392 XR and your awesome installation guide here will help a great deal with mine and prove that it can be done without chopping the liners, thank you.

I think they look great. I may have to go this route when they become available. However, if they make 37s look small, and they make you want 40s....🤔. Those will be about $16000+ DRLs after you buy the axles to run 40s. 😂

Man I LOVE your videos!! I’ve been watching a bunch of videos with the front light replacement BUT I didn’t like all the kits removing the inner fender liner which looks ok but the fender is really weak. THEN I watched your video where you keep the factory wheel well inner fender and I’m going to do this to my Gladiator!

Looks like the best option but seems like not as much for up travel clearance. I am looking forward to seeing their full fender replacements that look like this but sit higher.
If you have a Rubicon and remove the inner fender liner, you will have a lot more clearance. I just chose not to do that. Their new full and higher sitting fenders are coming too though.

@@Strizzle81 Just so that we're all on the same page, it's important to ALWAYS run about the same amount of bump stop extension as you have lift. Not only will they help to prevent things like rubbing things like your fenders, they will more importantly help to prevent the over compression of your coils. AS IN, prevent your coils from squashing down to the point they no longer return to their original height. With my current setup, I do not have any rubbing issues.
I never liked the look of the lights on the fenders when they came out but these are so much nicer and opens the front up more thanks for the awesome video!!!

that inner fender cut kinda seems like an afterthought and leaves a big hole for mud and water to get up in there. i like the LEDs but that gaping hole not so much.
LOL - if you say so. You could probably cut them differently than I did to get a better result. I was just happy that I could keep as much of the inner fender liner as I could being that other kits require you to remove it all together.

Amazing video! Looks pretty good for retaining the stock fenders, but I'd prefer the Nemesis Industries fenders.
Can't knock the Nemesis fenders as they are nice but I'm a factory fender kind of guy. Always have been.

Will these work on a 2019 Sahara with the halogen DRL? My jeep doesn't have the LED factory DRL.

Needs little more trim between the new light and front grill/hood it has a gap left there, I am a little o.c.d but it does not look complete to me.

Looks really good, but not exactly a simple plug and play mod. LOL I'm not afraid of doing things to my vehicles, but this is certainly a one way trip or very costly if you need to buy a return ticket.
Clearly, this isn't for everyone.
how do these compare to factory LED DRL? like brightness? holding up well?
Mine have been holding up well. They are not as bright as the factory LED's but aren't too bad in my opinion.
what model and year should i look for to buy fender flare like yours? I have 2020 JL unlimited sport and my fender flare dont look like yours at all but have all extra stuff around the light unit.
This kit is made for Rubicon fenders only. Rugged Ridge does make replacement fenders that come with DRLs like this.

Eddie will this work on a 19 Rubi non LED? I have halogen and I can’t seem to find the appropriate info regarding the halogen. Your response will be very helpful, thanks. Happy holidays.
It should work but it might throw an error code on your dash. It was my understanding that Rugged Ridge was going to address this but I haven't tested it out for myself.
Like it a lot will look good against a color. But I like white Jeeps.
Oh yeah, Rugged Ridge had them on a Red and Orange JL and they looked awesome. But, like you, I like white :)

Unfortunately, they are not available yet. They were supposed to be at the beginning of the month but with all that's going on, things got pushed back a bit.

The only way my drl will turn on is if the parking lights or headlights are on. Any advise? I’ve tried all the options on the tazer jl
If that's the case, you do not have DRLs on your Jeep. You just have parking/indicator lights.
Do you have any information on the max Terrain full fenders from Rugged Ridge?Can't find them for sale anywhere.
They won't be available for sale until later on in the year.

I'm sorry, I thought I had responded to a number of people on this video to let them know that the Rubicon DRLs should be available in April and the Sport/Sahara ones in June. MSRP should be about $299

Hi Wayalife, I just put 40s with 3.5" metalcloak lift on my JL Rubicon. Will the fender chop solve my fender rubbing issues? Or I will need those MAX terrain fenders from them?
Hard to say for sure being that no 3.5" lift measures out the same. Depending on what yours "actually" ended up yielding, you should be find just removing the fender liners and trim.

I know you specifically said you do not like the new jl fenders and how rocks can get wedged between them and the body. What made u decided to do with this set up as opposed to a completely different set
While I have said that I think Jeep should have used some kind of welt on their fenders to help keep rocks out, I don't ever recall saying that I don't like them.
Hey does anyone know if these can be adapted to a JK? I love this fender flares but can’t seem to find a JK version of them 😢
This particular DRL cannot but I would imagine there are other kits out there where you could make it work.
