A game that I would watch, for perhaps not so exciting reasons, would be the finals game where KD and Klay were out for the rest of the series against the Raptors. Steph did everything he could to try and keep his team in contention. The knock on Steph is that he's a bad defender. Not in that game. he was picking up people full court. Steph has it in him to be a great defender. He showed it in that game, while going off on offense. We don't get to see it because he never had to show it before. We're used to seeing him on a stacked defensive squad and he saves his energy for offense.

Love these analyses of old-school/often kinda overlooked games. Please keep 'em up! One nitpick--I don't think T-Mac was ever the best player in the NBA. He MAY have been the best scorer at a time (but in a league with Iverson, Kobe, etc, even that is debatable), but I feel you've gotta be great on both sides of the ball to be the best player; fans underrate defense. Ok; now I feel better :)
I agree that TMac never was the best, but I remember arguing with friends about it and some analysts claiming he was the best around 2002 and 2003, which is why I said “arguably”. For me it was either Kobe, Shaq or Duncan.
If anyone hasn't seen it, one of my favorite games is when the Lakers played the Bulls on December 17, 1996. It's from the 96-97 regular season and it's probably my favorite regular season game ever. Shaq is on the Lakers by this time. So is (young) Kobe, Fisher, Fox, Eddie Jones, Elden Campbell and Nick Van Exel. Van Exel gets hot and the Lakers are playing pretty well. Exel starts talking trash to Pippen when the Lakers are up big. Pippen starts talking back, saying something like, "the game ain't over yet." Then Kukoc goes off and hits a bunch of threes in the comeback. The game goes to OT. 6'2" Randy Brown gets a sick dunk in transition. Rodman gets into a fight with Shaq. It's just an all-around insane game.
