Thank you for this nice resource. Gonna make a playlist. I watched a couple of these during pandemic. One that I always think of from a couple decades ago but haven't watched yet was 2002 WCF Kings vs. Lakers. Infamous series that Tim Donaghy alleged was fixed by two refs who were "company men" to make it a 7-game series. The league was so desperate after MJ left. That Kings squad was some of the most exciting ball post-MJ.
Man. I'm a Lakers fan and that game....I can't bring myself to watch it. I remember that game being the first time that I realized that officiating in the NBA was corrupt. My love of basketball died in many respects that day. I still love the game, but I don't watch it with the same trusting level of excitement that I used to before that game. It was a turning point for the NBA. Not to say that players or teams didn't get special treatment before that. But that game was so terrible and obvious as to what the refs were doing that it changed the way that I view the NBA forever.

Great video, Jonny! I remember the hype surrounding the Rockets v. Lakers game, when Shaq and Yao faced each other. I also remember the comments Shaq made and the hype about Yao Ming. The Shaq and Yao matchup was great. I think Shaq is on the record for apologizing to Yao for the insults after that game. It took and still takes ALOT to get Shaqs respect so to earn it after one matchup says a lot about how talented Yao Ming was.
Shaq's first 3 shots Yao blocked. I watched that game back in the day and I had an epiphony. Yao was the only one that could block Shaq's shots because Shaq was so big that people had to lean into him horizontally which meant that they couldn't jump up to go for the block in time. Yao, being 300 pounds himself didn't need to push so hard into Shaq horizontally which let him jump up to go for the block. That and being 7 foot 5. It was the first and only time that I saw Shaq stiffled in his prime.
Swear Dan Majerle used to catch the ball 10 feet behind the 3 point line and start to shoot it and i would think wtf is he doing way out there and it would go in. Got to where he seemed like he shot it more accurate the farther away he was. Thats when they nicknamed him Thunder Dan.
I never saw the 1990 all star game, but it looks similar energy wise to the 88 all star game which was awesome! For me, this time, it's Magic's skyhook over McHale and Parish; what's lost to history is that if Magic decided to pass it, he would've had a killer highlight bc Kareem was all alone in the paint for an easy dropoff.
Nice collection! My favourite game from the one and only Dream Team is their semi final where they absolutely slaughtered a legendary lithuania Team with unbelievable 51 Points! They were even called the other Dream Team and had their own documentation. Regarding Steph vs the Spurs: after his spectacular game 1, averaged 18 on Bad shooting splits so he was far away from his days as MVP and Goat shooter.
Fucking great game. Great series. Right before Stoudamire hurt his back and he was blowing my mind because he was battling with Tim Duncan like his equal.
K me and Johnny are going to have to fight 😊, Jordan at his peak in my estimation would be in the 92 Miami Heat playoff series. If I were to try and show what MJ was all about it would be that series. Now I know it's just a single game that Johnny's referring to but I dot think a single game will can give MJ justice. MJ had a hurt wrist in the 93 playoffs including the Phoenix series so his shooting was up and down so to me MJs not at his best. Great video 👍
That Spurs vs Warriors series you mentioned was awesome. As a Spurs fan I knew these guys were up next. Also I recommend the 1995 WCF between the Spurs and Rockets… yes that series. At the time David Robinson was viewed by many as the better player vs Hakeem as David had routinely demolished the Dream. As a Spurs fan I was anxious for this matchup as I wanted the Spurs to sweep the rockets. Everyone knows what happened in that series but it really made me appreciate Hakeem going forward. He was able to elevate his game to such an extent that he tarnished Davids otherwise great legacy. Hakeem was so smooth that it made Robinson look like he was just a guy off the streets. Even today most younger fans don’t know how great David Robinson was mainly due to how Hakeem smoked him in that series.
Game 6 of the 1986 finals between the Celtics and Rockets. This is a slightly different one; it's not because of how good or how close the game is. It's to watch Larry Bird. If you look at the box score, it looks like he had a great game--a triple-double to finish off the finals!--but nothing seemingly all-time extraordinary. But that game by Bird is the best single game I've ever seen a player have, and I've seen some iconic ones (the last game in the 1980 finals with the rookie Magic playing center with Kareem out, Jordan's flu game against the Jazz, Kobe's 81-point game against Toronto, etc.) Bird was everywhere, doing everything, at all times. It wasn't just that he had a bunch of points and assists and rebounds and stuff. It was *_when_* he got them. It was *_how_* he got them. It was all of the things he did that *_don't_* show up in the box score. He affected shots, he disrupted passes, he came in on help defense. When he wasn't getting the bucket or the assist himself, he was making an impossible pass that *_set up_* the assist that led the the bucket. He scored an off-balance bank shot with the shot clock running out while being double-teamed by Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson. He took a pass right under the basket, and ran out to the arc with it so he could hit a 3-pointer with 2 seconds left on the shot clock. *_He won a jump ball against Hakeem_* !!! This dude, whose lack of leaping ability is always the first knock brought up against him, won a jump ball against a guy who's three inches taller than him and 10x more athletic. You truly have to see it to get it. However good I've made it sound here, it's *_much_* better than that. If you're a basketball fan, you owe it to yourself to see it. 🙂 (PS: Before anyone accuses me of having some big bias in favor of Bird, I should say... my favorite players ever were Kareem and Magic. I *_hated_* Larry Bird, and I was only watching that series because I wanted to see him lose. I didn't get my wish, but getting to see that game was one hell of a consolation prize...)
How come you hated Larry Bird? I was only 5yo at the time so I didn't live it. By the time I was getting into the nba, Larry Legend had back problems. I experience similar with Luka - I can't stand the way he conducts himself but damn he's an amazing talent.
@@Earl_E_Burd It was more of a rivalry hatred than anything personal. He keeps my Lakers from winning, so screw that guy! etc. Also, I guess he also seemed kind of aloof and stand-offish because of the way he dealt with the media. At the time, I hadn't yet realized how much of a PITA the media can be... As I got older, and came to appreciate the game as a whole more than just blind team loyalty, and as Magic and Larry became friends, most of the rivalry hatred went away. Of course, I can't lie... the back problems helped a little, too. I hated him a lot less when he wasn't beating my Lakers. 😉
Even though it's recent the 2022 All Star Game showcase a scenario if you let Curry Open to almost every possession he'll just make those shots not consistently but every single time. One of the games to watch as a whole tbh.
The best NBA games to watch were: #1 Spurs vs Magic in SA at the Alamodome in 1994 (Shaq's birthday) #2 OKC vs Warriors in OKC when Curry hit a game winnner at mid-court #3 Warriors vs Magic in 1995 in GSW. What a shoot-out!! #4 Game 3 of the 1991 NBA Finals in LA. Magic vs Jordan #5 Game 7 of the 1993 WCF between Suns vs Sonics. What a game!!
Phoenix was a super team thunder dam plus kj Kevin Johnson was a 20 ppg 10ast guy but stayed hurt him and Barkley was the best duo outside of mj and pippen the year pippen was better then drexler who took the blazers to the finals twice with no real help and won a ring with Hakeem putting up numbers a little less then pippen when he was the second option that's how good pippen really was and Kevin Johnson would be a top 10 pg all time if not for injuries

The 2000 WCF Game 7 between the Shaq and Kobe Lakers vs. The Scottie Pippen, Rasheed Wallace, et al. Portland Trailblazers is one of the best games in NBA History!

Hi Jonny, I love your content and I am new gen in NBA. I want to increase my ball knowledge, I have question to you: Is James Harden really in top 5 SG?
I want to go back Into the 90's and watch games from then again. Is there any sites where you can watch old school games/seasons from the 90's, not just random games?
Hey Jonny, i just watched a Gils Arena episode yesterday & they brought up a very interesting conspiracy and i guarantee you'll hit a million views within a month if u dive into it (as only YOU can), but it was about AI's CROSSOVER being a move that got banned from the NBA only after he crossed Jordan with it, and the NBA coincidentally relegalized the move the season following AI's retirement. If you already did a video on this, my bad😂
i'd like to watch every playoff games (or at least the games from notable teams) from the 90s to the 2000s. tried the league pass but the earliest i can watch is 2011-2012. anyone know where i can watch them?

The 1990 NBA All Star Game is an interesting choice considering that had a 17 point margin I think 1991 (closer game, came down to the wire, 2 point margin, first one on NBC) would be an interesting one
Yeah, but that’s a pretty basic way of looking at it. It’s not about how close it was at the end, but the talent and excitement on display. It’s one of the most entertaining all star games I’ve ever seen, even if it was far from the closest.
Look if you watch the 93 finals game and think that Jonny is on crack for saying that Dan Majerle was a great defender. He really was. Jordan just makes him look really slow. MJ really outclassed his competition.
I posted this before, but I wanted to see teo videos. A top list with players without a ring and a top list with the most stylish players (or players with more swag). Greetings from Brazil ❤
Half these “young heads” are dug in deep. They have this notion that the game has “evolved” far beyond anyone in 1990 could ever imagine bc they haven’t been alive long enough to understand the “correlation does not equal causation” aspect of evolution. Evolution does not automatically occur simply bc time passed. I know this after having watched videos of them watch videos of old games. They won’t see a great defensive play, they’ll see a “low skilled offensive player” They won’t see a spectacular pass from Magic or quick decisive ball movement that results in an easy bucket. They see a point guard who “can’t shoot.” I mean, I may be an “old head” these days, but it’s not like 1990 was exactly “my era.” I was 4yrs old in 1990. I don’t remember watching much basketball back then on account I was still acclimating myself to existence. But I go back and watch those games and, maybe I’m just as bias as the young heads but, early 90s basketball feels like it’s being played at the highest level. And I don’t think it’s bc I’m perceiving bad offense as great defense or anything like that. But I feel like it’s faster paced and just has so much less waste. Less wasted possessions taking bad shots. Less wasted dribbles with no purpose but to kill time at the top of the key. Less wasted fans who crushed four 36oz beers just to get through watching Lebron yell at referees for 2hrs with his “what?!??!” hands up 🤷🏾♂️

Yea that was a classic series..As a Lakers fan..I’m glad the spurs lost 😂😂
Just watched Game 4 1993 a few days ago, what an amazing game and a surgical performance by Jordan.
The whole bulls and Celtics 09 first round playoff match up, and the 76ers and raptors 01 playoff matchup
That '93 Finals Game 4 is my favorite game of all time - "poetry in motion."
But that game by Bird is the best single game I've ever seen a player have, and I've seen some iconic ones (the last game in the 1980 finals with the rookie Magic playing center with Kareem out, Jordan's flu game against the Jazz, Kobe's 81-point game against Toronto, etc.)
Bird was everywhere, doing everything, at all times.
(PS: Before anyone accuses me of having some big bias in favor of Bird, I should say... my favorite players ever were Kareem and Magic.
@@Earl_E_BurdHis favorite players were Kareem and Magic. He’s most definitely a Lakers fan and that’s why he hated Bird.
1987 NBA All Star Game is underrated af
Same as the 93 all star game too
"i don't know anything about Angola but, Angola in trouble..."
Fun Fact about the 1990 All-Star game: Magic won MVP despite playing on the losing team.
The best NBA games to watch were:
#1 Spurs vs Magic in SA at the Alamodome in 1994 (Shaq's birthday)
#2 OKC vs Warriors in OKC when Curry hit a game winnner at mid-court
#3 Warriors vs Magic in 1995 in GSW. What a shoot-out!!
#4 Game 3 of the 1991 NBA Finals in LA. Magic vs Jordan
#5 Game 7 of the 1993 WCF between Suns vs Sonics. What a game!!
Well I know what I'm doing all next week
Phoenix was a super team thunder dam plus kj Kevin Johnson was a 20 ppg 10ast guy but stayed hurt him and Barkley was the best duo outside of mj and pippen the year pippen was better then drexler who took the blazers to the finals twice with no real help and won a ring with Hakeem putting up numbers a little less then pippen when he was the second option that's how good pippen really was and Kevin Johnson would be a top 10 pg all time if not for injuries
LOVE THIS SERIES 💪🏾💪🏾
Game 1 Mavs vs Warriors 2007 playoffs
Classic playlist
I posted two simple comments/replies to your post. I won’t apologize but I think the Algorithm must be fed. More basketball aficionados must see your channel.
One game I recommend is the Suns vs Nets in 2007 regular season..both teams where on fire in the 4th and overtime
The 2000 WCF Game 7 between the Shaq and Kobe Lakers vs. The Scottie Pippen, Rasheed Wallace, et al. Portland Trailblazers is one of the best games in NBA History!
I remember a game where the Pacers were down by a lot in the 4th quarter and Reggie Miller lead an incredible comeback to win. I can't remember who they played.
can you find a game of the spurs 2014 playoff run for the next episode of these series?
My uncle was on the bench for Angola in that Game
Man I don't know what the US has against Angola, ya'll always play your best when your against us, 1992, 2008, 2010 and 2012
we all know Lebron is taller than Kobe but that pic is ridiculous (1:10)
Bucks Celtics 1987 game 7 or Celtics Pistons 1987 game 5 (Bird steals the ball)
Have a great Saturday
If your a basketball fan, especially a newer one, you gotta go back to 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s games
I could sit down and watch the entire 1994 Nuggets vs Sonics series upset endlessly
The game when Rodman on the Bulls shut down Shaq. He was immense
ive started watching older games recently i wantched the 2008 olympic gold medal game and game 1 of 1991 nba finals
Can u make a video on Jokić vs Hakeem... I've seen so many people thinking that hakeem would dominate him on both ends of the floor, but that's clearly not true
Btw nice content i like this series👍
Incredible content
Ray Allen (Seattle) vs Suns 2006 2OT
I've had the privilege of watching every last one of these games in real time.
Do you have games from wilts early years?
Bookmarked!
Ewwwwww you want me to watch full games of plumber on plumber action? Eewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!
On a serious note this is a great list of games.
The National Enquirer of basketball
2017 GSW vs Cavs Christmas game
1992 Blazzers vs Bulls Final game when Jordan got hit 6 threes

For all the people running around saying Barkley was inches shorter than Jordan I present 5:43 as evidence to the contrary.
Game 6 of the 1996 between the Chicago Bulls against the Seattle Supersonics. (I believe i'm acurate).
🎉❤
2003 Western conference semi-finals game 6 where Tim Duncan ended the Kobe and Shaq dynasty
🍄
The 1990 NBA All Star Game is an interesting choice considering that had a 17 point margin
I think 1991 (closer game, came down to the wire, 2 point margin, first one on NBC) would be an interesting one
Yeah, but that’s a pretty basic way of looking at it. It’s not about how close it was at the end, but the talent and excitement on display. It’s one of the most entertaining all star games I’ve ever seen, even if it was far from the closest.
@@jonnyarnett I’ll also make a point in your favor that the 1990 game did have another noteworthy factor: it was the last one on CBS
Good point. End of an awesome era.
Anybody else crack up reading the Shaq quote? 4:08
2013 NBA Finals Game 6
2016 Western Conference Finals Game 6
Kobe’s 81 Point Game
2011 NBA Finals Game 2

The entire 84 finals
Old heads vs ydas is always interesting
Look if you watch the 93 finals game and think that Jonny is on crack for saying that Dan Majerle was a great defender. He really was. Jordan just makes him look really slow. MJ really outclassed his competition.
I posted this before, but I wanted to see teo videos. A top list with players without a ring and a top list with the most stylish players (or players with more swag). Greetings from Brazil ❤
cool
Half these “young heads” are dug in deep. They have this notion that the game has “evolved” far beyond anyone in 1990 could ever imagine bc they haven’t been alive long enough to understand the “correlation does not equal causation” aspect of evolution. Evolution does not automatically occur simply bc time passed. I know this after having watched videos of them watch videos of old games. They won’t see a great defensive play, they’ll see a “low skilled offensive player” They won’t see a spectacular pass from Magic or quick decisive ball movement that results in an easy bucket. They see a point guard who “can’t shoot.”
I mean, I may be an “old head” these days, but it’s not like 1990 was exactly “my era.” I was 4yrs old in 1990.
