Here in Florida during the summer, also like riding at night. But only on trails. Beats the heat ... a little bit.

I kinda like riding at night at that hour and with the lights and green vest it's pretty safe. I have the same green vest and it's really brite. Just feels more relaxing at that time. Thanks for the great video.

I do most of my leisure rides at night. I have a high visibility motorcycle jacket I typically wear, people can see me pretty well. This time of year it’s also nice because it’s cooler, but mostly the easiest time for me to duck out for a 45 minute+ ride is after the kids have gone to bed. My biggest complaint is car headlights, but that’s nothing new. The regular ones have been allowed to get too bright. If you’re going up a hill, a car with blue led lights coming towards you down the hill will overwhelm your light to the point you can’t see the road/sidewalk anymore, not to mention just being so bright it destroys your night vision for a bit afterwards. They’ve been allowed to sell that driving around with your high beams on all the time is safer for some reason. It is not, high beams are for when you’re on a road by yourself, not for when you’re around other cars/bikes/pedestrians. But that appears to be the direction all new cars have gone down, regular headlights that are brighter than high beams from 2010 and earlier.

Russ you have more guts than me. I am like after 5pm start getting my hiney home. Mountainous curvy country roads and busy ABC and convenience stores, not a safe mix here. I worked in a convenience gas store and the 40oz Buds and Old Milwaukee's flying out of the coolers at that time.
Now I see the dead 40 oz soldiers along the roadsides. scary stuff. Be safe out there.
As always keep up the good work.

We rode the Hiawatha Trail in Montana. A railroad tunnel 1.6 miles totally dark. We used 3000 lumens external light. You must have lights to ride thru this tunnel. Great 15 mile ride several tunnels only 1 that long.

    Hi Russ
I enjoyed your night ride , in Massachusetts no way unless it’s a absolute a emergency to be out at nighttime on your bike . Day time riding is much safer , well maybe once In a while just for the hell of it wouldn’t hurt .
Keep up you high quality content.

Fun ride, I like the area. I cannot get over thinking the shadow from the front lamp is your head lol. I have only recently made the transition to an E-Bike. I love that I have lights and can ride at night.

    Wurkkos HD50(4000 max)
Noxgear Tracer2 LED light vest...either/or (2) generic 2500 max handlebar mounted light.

I ride in daytime, and I never used my factory light (it's bright out) But have found out that if I ride with front light on in daytime The vehicles yield to me more. So, I always use a front light. just a heads up to all us riders

Haha, you’re getting double playback counts from my account. I watch your videos from my Desktop environment while breaking fast, then I go my phone to make comments starting another playback. Anyway, I use three headlights. The one that came with the Vélo Ranger is just above the front fender and it is much brighter than any reviewer could describe. This I adjust for illumination out to about 100 feet. Two other lights in symmetry on the handlebars adjusted to a closer in. If I ride at night, it’s in the city with street lights. My lights are for my visibility to traffic. It’s remarkable to me how little I can see of pedestrians not in hi-vis to me as a bicyclist. I use a helmet similar to the X-Nito which also has lights and BT turn signals I can control from the handlebars.

I do occational night riding ususally at dusk much cooler. I'm surprised by the bightness on the Wired stock light. Always have it on as well as the light on the Xnito helmet day or night. Feel safer. Have fun on your soon to be vaction to the Bay Area, San Diego and Las Vega$!!! More night rides too.

I only use my external light very similar to yours. The light that came on my ebike is pretty weak. Plus it is hard to change the batteries on it.

Hi Russ, a technical question, I see your view from the selfie stick camera and you are not visibly talking. But I do hear the bike and you talking. How does that happen? Sometimes my husband and I do early evening rides but not too often. They are very pleasant. PS Yes those Cicadas are very loud.
