Hello. Thanks for this video. I am wondering what are the correct BIOS Settings to load the OS from SSD? I tried to upgrade mine to SSD NVme and change the Raid settings to AHCI, additionally, SSD is visible in BIOS settings. Thanks in advance!
Hi, Thanks for the video. I have the same laptop with me(Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6440HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz). I was thinking about getting the SSD upgrade on my laptop. However, the Dell device specifications article(DELL Article Number: 000178253) says that E5470 supports 2 x (w/ H or U processor) in PCIe lanes. But you have installed 4 x PCle SSD. Will that not fry the board or something? Can you please clarify this? I am also thinking of installing an NVMe SSD.
No problem. It will run at half (50%) its speed (2 lanes vs 4 lanes). I have installed M.2 SSD's in laptops having that PCIe configuration and had no issues. Best regards!
I noticed that you did not attach a heatsink to the PCIE NVMe SSD. The Dell website states that you must use a M.2 PCI-E SSD Thermal Cover (1)(Dell Part Number 1X2MT). The Thermal Cover is the heatsink. Can you use a PCIE NVMe SSD without a heatsink?
You can use without heatsink no problem, it would just get a bit warmer, but even if the SSD would get too warm, it would throttle itself, aka it would get slower in order not get overheated. Also, I am not sure, if there is enough room for the heatsink, since it is a laptop.
Hi, SATA III SSD gets up to a real maximum of about 550 MB/s and PCIe Gen 3 x 2 real maximum is about 1750 MB/s. That is more than 3 times faster! (in sequential read and shoud be about the same proportion in random reand and sequential write)
It is M.2 SSD. The ones he shows in the video. This model can come with HDD or SSD (2.5" or M.2 2280). Fastest one is NVMe M.2 SSD Gen 3 for this model. Best regards.
@@daniv8386 hi. I have e5570. Do you use the ssd with removed case on the hdd port with dell stock hdd to sata cable simultanously with nvme ssd installed?
I currently have an M.2 2240 NGFF card in my E5470 in the WWAN card slot and a 2nd SSD drive in the above bay. However, I don't believe it would be physically possible to fit an NVME as shown in this video and a normal size 2.5" SDD at the same time.
What is the max size ssd that can go into this laptop?
Can you put a 4tb/8tb?
Please answer?

Can't do that.(nvme) I tried but it didn't work. The laptop may be damaged. Mine is not working properly.
change disk interface from raid to ahci

I guess it is 2280 form factor?
Correct. 2280 (22 mm x 80 mm). Best regards!
Thanks!
why does mine have no screw where the ssd is
It's stuck there with gods grace🤝🏾
It's a diff model that cane with the hdd. Pretty sure you need this piece (google 0X3YR8).
How much difference is noticed in speed after upgrade. Can you share read and write speed screen shot?

Sir kindly tell me how many storage and RAM slots this laptop support?
2×8=16gm ram
2x16=32GB Ram (Currently in mine)
I've read we can go as high as 2x32=64GB but i never tried as i have no need for more than 32 on this laptop
is it working or not ?
I got black screen when i install NVMe PCIe tm8fp6512g0c101
On e5470 what i must do to fix that???
SIR DID I NEED TO DO OTHERS SETTING AFTER INSERTING NVME OR IT WILL WORK BY DEFAULT?
Works out of the box ! U should enter in BIOS to see the laptop detected the ssd !
For me no work.what's problem?
Check BIOS configuration
Thank you ❤️
Support RAM 1x16 DDR4 2666Mhz or 3200Mhz?
2x16 DDR4 2133, with Core I5 6th or 7th generation
i have 2x16 2133 in mine. I've heard it can go as high as 2x32
can I add an ssd and m.2 at the same time
Yo tengo un m.2 y un ssd a la misma vez, pero le tienes que quitar la carcasa al ssd y colocarlo al estilo tetris xd

I like this song how i can download this song ❤️
Informative, but I really hate these TH-cam videos when they down talk.
