how crazy is it that one of the most versatile and useful infantry units in shogun 2 is also one of the least historically accurate?? we love to see it
@@TheVikingGeneral yeah it's not a critic per se, I just think it's pretty funny that the most prevalent samurai unit in history was probably the yari samurai, which is the least good samurai unit in the game lmao
I like only using a couple to support naginata samurais they absorb bows and i use katana samurai to flank though you could do this with katana Calvary to i guess
@@mkratos17 I really tried to make it work, I really did, but they only work if the enemy's got a lot of yari cavalry and you need faster and cheaper foot units to cover your flanks. it's so situational it's depressing. but katana go brrr I guess
gotta keep in mind that due to their lower size they have less man replenished per turn so you really need the +5% tech and some road upgrades to be able to actually use them as a frontline unit
very nice, I like it a lot. I've always loved Shogun 2 ever since I bought it, but I never bothered to really learn it, so seeing this really helps my understanding. Many thanks for the nice a quick tutorial!
for me, if i dont have missile superiority i back up so the brige it near max range of my archers, jari wall in front of my archers, iven if i do have missile superiority this works but take care to trap the enemy near the bridge. this also allows cav to be used against melee
it's 2021, and we're still getting Shogun 2 tutorials.
awesome.
It's still a good game :)
@@TheVikingGeneral TRUTH
I do like how Shogun 2 seems to be making a resurgence again.
It's 2022. I am still watching.
2023!

I guess CA has to balance historical accuracy and gameplay and make some concessions.

@@gandalfdumbledor3076 only because they didn't give it yari wall and smaller unit size otherwise yari samuria could have been a good unit

Yo, this stuff is very informative. I hope you get more views champ.
Thanks man, I hope so too. But I really just like to help people out, so the more people see it, the more chance I have to help some people. ;)
@@TheVikingGeneral I'm sure you will just give it more time and you'll get big for sure.

Guilty of overspending on them frequently.
I think we've all been there :P
Don't be, they are worth the cost and will serve you well if you support them.

Glad to hear it! :)
bro, i love your videos , they teach u every thing in 2 mins, 20 mins = 10 units mastered (ish)
Thanks so much,

I think you accidentally commented on the wrong video :P
@@TheVikingGeneral ah yes, now you know I watch all you stuff
Good job on your stuff, i like your stuff and keep doing what you like
Thank you!
Other early game units are great for fancy tactics and grand strategic plans, this unit is the infantry you send to the dirtiest parts of the battle.
Played as Oda recently. Katana samurai fall pretty easily to a hail of arrows from 5-plus rank bow ashigaru.
Nothing can stop the might of the oda ashigaru horde
I love these videos keep them coming man
Sorry for the wait, but I'm finally ready to get back to this.
I send other units into war.
But I send katana samurai units into HELL
Just started replaying shogun 2. I chose Shimazu for their location, and wasnt sure how i should use katana against Yari. Thanks for this tutorial
i just wonder what is the name of map you use on the video
my campaign army consists of only yari ashigaru and bow ashigaru
Gött du :)
Tack så mycket! (I hope I used the right language and google translate did it's work :P) I'm not scandinavian :P
I never liked the very historically inaccurate unit so I just installed a mod that gives naginata and yari samurai spear wall.
You should always play a singleplayer game the way you like it.
banzai!
Still surprise Samurai with sword beats Samurai with Spear
KATANASAMURIA GOSAIMASU!
