Just because the r62as came to the 6 doesn't mean it's a bad thing because it's just a train. We shouldn't complain because at the end of the day the MTA is in charge of the subway system. They know what's the right thing to do! They also make sure that we get from point a to point b. We all are gonna have to deal with the r62as on the 6 line! Complaining for the r62as to go back to the 7 isn't gonna change the MTA's mind. So let's all calm down!

The 6 and 7 swapped fleets when the 7 went CBTC. Before, the 6 line had 100% R142A's, the 4 was split between R142's and R142A's, while the 7 was operated entirely with R62A's. Most of the R142A's on the 6 were converted to R188's for operation on the 7. They lengthened the trains to 11 cars from 10, and added the CBTC equipment. The R142A's that operated on the 4, which was the only other line that had them (the 2 and 5 are run with R142's) remained unconverted and still operate there. This actually is a good thing for the 6 line because when they the single unit R62A's that were used to make 11 car trains on the 7 and made them into a few extra sets for the 6.

I remember when riding the trains were more safer, but after Covid-19, people have lost it…mostly the homeless folks who couldn’t fend for themselves bc they couldn’t take care of theirselves, now they use the train stations as a mean of shelter so they don’t freeze to death or get wet from the rain.

R62A received new led lights inside the subway car so that it would be much brighter in the subway car and not dark. All R62A have this, except for R62.

No door indicator lights on the 62's? In the 70's a car would be locked down and out of service (Sometimes the whole train) if the indicator light didn't function.

They did. The 7 got it since the population along the line has been growing, and they need more trains to handle the growth in ridership and stem signal problems. Therefore, they took the R142As from the 6, which quite frankly doesn't have a legit excuse to have them anymore for the meanwhile, and converted them into R188s for the 7 and its western extension that caused the addition of 66 additional cars to the fleet. The R62As returned home to its rightful place on the 6, where they have received positive acclaim from both riders, operators, and maintenance shop employees.
I hate the R62A'S on the 6 if only the MTA could of kawasaki make new R142A's for the 6 and put all R62A's to the 1 or 4 and a few years back r62as were on the 4

Roman Imperator They add CBTC parts to the underside of the trains, and add a CBTC console behind the drivers cab.
They changed the door chime and added in CBTC so now it’s way different from the R142A
