- Author Douglas Murray has slammed an article labelling English novelist George Orwell as homophobic.
“None of this stuff is at all unknown - George Orwell in human being, shocker!” he told Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi.
“This is just an attempt to grab headlines by the author in question.”
Mr Murray praised George Orwell for contributing some of the most important works of the 20th century, some of the most important journalism and some of the most important fiction.
"Perhaps as a gay man, maybe I have some privilege to say this - I don’t give a damn that George Orwell didn’t think that gay people were exactly quite the same as, say, himself.
“I don’t need him to be in total alignment with my views in 2023.”

How about we cancel a certain entity who ordered the mass slaughter of any population that didn't fall to their needs and 'worship' him, who sentenced gay people to death, who sentenced any woman who allegedly indulged in adultery to death by having stones thrown at her until she died, who ordered an old man to tie up his only child, lay him on an altar and murder him to prove his love and loyalty.

Thankful what the vast majority knew at the time, but was hidden by msm, is now coming to light again. The police cam footage and the official autopsy show that GF had no marks on him to show choking but had excessively high fentanyl in his system which was un-survivable. He caused his own demise. Chauvin was using an authorised and trained police manoeuvre of restraint which was not pressure on the neck. He was saying he couldn’t breath from the get go as clearly shown on the police cam (who were extremely patient with him). There are now 5 cops in prison who shouldn’t be there because of a political agenda.

We would all expect our government to revenge any attacks on their own people. If these terrorists get away with their slaughter of innocent children, women and elderly, I would find this very uncomfortable. Israel left Gaza in 2005, its 2023! I also saw live videos how Palestinians were cheering and celebrating kidnapped women and children being paraded in their streets. Anyone who thinks this is ok needs to go look in a mirror and ask their reflection how they would describe their character.

@keithroberts5611 the man speaks the truth. Proportionality is international law in a conflict. The Geneva Convention is very clear about targeting civilians or endangering civilians. The use of atomic weapons was not proportionate nor legal. They would be war crimes today.

Civilian casualties are expected and allowed in active conflict zones by *state* actors when and *if* the action in question will meet a defined *military* objective and the expected amount of civilian casualties are commensurate to the expected gain. Example: blowing up an entire apartment complex to kill a single Hamas shovel head wouldn’t be acceptable. Blowing up the same complex to kill Hamas’ top military commander, *might* be, especially if there were no better means of eliminating said commander available and his death would severely cripple their operations.
Incidentally, as a non-state actor, every violent thing Hamas & Co. have done in the last ~50 years is illegal under the Geneva Conventions. That’s a bit overly convenient for state actors in my opinion, but that’s what the rules as written say.

What Murray is arguing here is that the nature and degree of Israel's response should not be measured by the barbarity of the initial attack. That Israel's military aims should be measured on their own terms. In this case, taking steps to ensure that Hamas never again has the ability to invade, rape, kidnap, and behead their citizens. It's the same military goal that any country would be entitled to.

I am sickened by what has happened in my country of birth, especially in London, following the atrocious, disgusting attack on innocent people in Israel! I am so glad I saw what was coming in the UK, and when I retired, moved to Spain in 2006. I support you Israel, 100%!
I have exactly the same story, moved to Spain 2000 and I am too disgusted and ashamed of my city of birth... probably will now never return.

Pro Palestinians are gathering in large numbers thru Australia . We are no longer innocent when people are chanting gass the Jews. Until then I thought we were safe but the plan of marches is deeply disturbing. Antisemitism is alive & well in Australia. I was devastated. But we can’t pretend this isn’t happening. We must take a stand too with peaceful rallies.
