  • Hello My Kandor Crafters!!!!!
    In this video I will be showing you how I made a photo lantern using waterslide decals and etching cream. This project does NOT have to be a memorial gift. You can make it into whatever you may like, it can be an awesome wedding gift as well!
    Here’s what you’ll need:
    A Lantern
    Waterslide decal paper
    Acrylic sealer
    Etching Cream
    Battery operated candle
    Silicone brush!! (Trust ME!)
    Rubbing Alcohol to clean the glass
    *Vinyl if you have a circuit machine, silhouette or any other cutting machine

    They are beautiful. The etching cream is very toxic be careful! I use a frosted spray paint it works great.. I make prayer candles. Thank you for your nice video

      Use spray paint the frosted kind.. vellum is a hard semi transparent plastic type of paper in place of the frost

    Silly question. Can I do the same with the silhouette image?

  • @drayuhar7145

    Could I seal the with modge podge after to help protect the image while placing the glass back in? Or will that mess with the transparency?

    When putting the image on the etched glass do you put it on the etched side or non etched side? Or do you etch both sides?? Thank you it’s beautiful and exactly what I’m looking for.

    I am assuming you print your images on the water slide paper. Now if I am putting the decal photo side down, do I need to seal the image? Or do you only seal it because you do mirror image and photo side up?

  • @connieperez9018
    @connieperez9018 ปีที่แล้ว

    how do you make the pictures come out dark? I transferred my pictures to the glass they didn't transfer dark like yours. I put the light inside the lantern and I can barely see the picture. What settings is your printer set at?

    I dont know if your brand of etching cream will be able to do this but you should be able to reuse your etching cream. So after your first piece of glass is done etching take a paintbrush and remove it from the etched glass and put it on the 2and piece of glass. You will probably have to add some fresh cream to completely cover it. Then let it set for the same amount of time and it should etch as if it is fresh cream. It saves A TON of etching cream especially if you etch a lot.
    I hope this helps and allows you to save some etching cream and some $$. Hopefully it will work for the brand that you use!!
    This video is great as well! My husband recently passed away and I am planning on doing one of these in remembrance of him! So thank you! I am sorry for your loss as well! Grieving the loss of a loved one is beyond horrible. There are no words that can perfectly describe the pain. One day at a time and remembering they are looking down on us and I do things I think will make him proud of me and love me more than he did yesterday!

      🥺💙 I’m sorry for your loss as well. Thank you so much for watching! I know your lantern will turn out beautifully.
      Also thank you for your tips, i definitely use my scraping tool to put the excess back in. Etching cream definitely isn’t cheap (even with hobby lobby’s 40% coupon lol)

      I’m not too sure about the squeeze bottle mod podge because you have to dip the photo in water afterwards. I sprayed 5-6 coats of the acrylic sealer

    How did you remove those glass pieces i have the same one and been trying about a month to remove the glass from the other sides
    can you help

    • @CraftingwithKandor
      @CraftingwithKandor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are two little black tabs that are on each side of the frame to hold the glass in place. Once you lift them, push the glass from the outside in, there will be two sticky tabs at the top and bottom to make sure the glass doesn’t move around.
      Make sure the black tabs are completely flat at the bottom. I hope this helps!

    Any suggestions if I don't have a cricut machine on getting the verse on a panel?

    • @CraftingwithKandor
      @CraftingwithKandor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may be able to type the quote and print it on the waterslide decal. I’m not 100% certain but i don’t see why not.
