- Hello to you all! As most of you know I just recently lost my sister unexpectedly! She leaves behind 3 BEAUTIFUL kids ages 17, 13 and 12! Such a young young age for them to have lost their mom! So I decided to make them each a DIY Memorial Remembrance Box also known as a Keepsake Box! Come see how I do this on a Budget! If your like me and you just don't care for the Idea or look of an Urn I give you a BUDGET friendly alternative to storing the ashes.

My husband passed away at 39 and I was 37 at the time. Devastated as I was, I knew I had to pull myself together because we had 3 children. Because of their ages, 12, 8 and 2, I knew I couldn't bring his ashes home. My brother took him in and he still resides there. The kids are 29, 23 and 19, and YOU'VE HELPED ME to see that I can bring him home. I will search for a box to celebrate him. Thank you Kelly, I love you❣

Kelly, I am sure this is the most difficult video you ever produced and I am so sorry for your loss. You made it so special to me and one of my favorites EVER. I lost my nephew on 10/17/18 and this is something I would like to do for my great niece and nephew. What a beautiful gesture on your part! We are all determined in my family to keep Keith's memory alive to everyone in the family and we get together with his twin brother and wife, his cousins and his other 2 brothers and have a party in his honor at least monthly going to a different house each time. It a nice way to get the family together again and keep his memory alive. We all bring dips and food, special drinks but most of all we get to spend time with his two children who are lost without their dad. His children are ages 6 and 11. We should all strive to be a great Aunt (like I hope to be for my Great Niece and Great Nephew) and a great Sister long after they have passed. May the quiet places in your heart be filled with sweet echoes of your sister's love for all of you. God bless you Kelly and let's keep the memories alive often.

This made me think of and miss my mom so much. She’s been gone almost 12 years. I’m 46, but I as her only child and would have loved for someone to do something like that for me. I don’t even have any of her ashes. Her death was so overwhelming to my step-dad that he didn’t realize that I was hurting too, I don’t blame him at all for not thinking of things like giving me some ashes for a keepsake; he had lost the love of his life. Bit slowly through the years he has passed on to me a few things of hers and I cherish them and cry every time I get something new. So many memories and even smells of her, even after all of these years.
You are an angel to your nieces and nephew. I know they will appreciate the thoughtfulness you put into doing something so beautiful for them.

Kelly, just wanted you to know how much I appreciated you tonight. I cried along with you every time you mention your sister. She really was a beautiful woman. Seem she always had s smile on her face. Her kids are so lucky to have you as an aunt. I’m sure they will love an appreciate the thoughtfulness you put into making those boxes for them. How wonderful! So many heirlooms and memories get lost. What an honor to your sister and her children. You are so thoughtful. How lucky they are to have you. Know your sister is always with you and is smiling down from heaven.
Thank you for sharing this. Your sis was a beautiful person. You did it right by her in my opinion. We had a service for my 102 year old mother in law in August, and then had her cremated. My sister in law got some of her ashes and we got some, the rest are buried next to my father in law. We have her ashes in a beautiful pink rose dish from Hobby Lobby. WHEN my husband and I are ABLE to we will put some ashes in keepsakes for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchildren. WE aren't quite THERE yet. Our middle daughter asked for her glasses after the funeral, and was given them as a keepsake. Parting with a loved one---OLD as can be or YOUNG as in your case is NEVER easy Kelly. I lost my first husband and he was cremated. What I learned is that if you feel it in your heart, than it is the right thing to do. You did the right thing and what a great tribute to her. Remember, when you see a butterfly, it will carry your message to your loved one in heaven.
As someone who has lost several loved ones in the past few years I absolutely love this and you did a wonderful job. Although they may not completely understand now this is something they will absolutely cherish when they are older and have children of their own. Your a loving aunt and they are lucky to have you.
Sweetest Kelly...Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this video. I am in the process of going through my precious mother's home, now. I lost my dad 12 years ago, my sister (my only sibling) 7 years ago, and now finally my sweet mother. I have been trying to think of ways I could do something special to honor each one of my family members as I go through Mama's home, and a lifetime of memories. Your sweet video gave me direction and ideas of the types of personal items I could save (besides pictures, obviously) to honor each of my family members. I wanted to do something special for each of them individually to keep for myself, and then pass along eventually to my two children.

I lost my brother 3 weeks ago, unexpectedly as well. I just couldn't watch the whole video but what a precious and loving idea. He left his 17 son who is to graduate high school this year. Thank you so much for this video! I just lost my mom on April 30,2023. She was my everything and we have never been apart from one another. I’m 54 y/o never married or had children. Our lives where taking care of each other. So dealing with her being gone has been quite an adjustment. First, I want to extend my condolences on the loss of your sister. Grieving is a slow hard process. Your nieces and nephew will cherish their boxes, I am sure of that. Having such a loving and thoughtful aunt, that will be there for them throughout their lifetime will be such a blessing for them. This episode touched me right from the start. I too lost my sister just before Christmas this past year extremely unexpectedly. She was 25 and had some health issues but was otherwise healthy. She was a young 25 and a beautiful and Godly young lady. I’m the older sister so it’s especially hard because I helped raise her from infancy. She’s my “baby”, my sister and my best friend. I know she went Home for a reason even if I never understand. I trust the Father was right in calling her back to Him but it doesn’t lessen how terribly I miss her.
I’m very sorry you have to know the same pain. You’re an amazing sister and aunt to do this for her children. They will come to understand that you’re loving them for both yourself and your sister.

I agree with your sister about the butterflies. I had a spiritual encounter with butterflies when I was in boot camp. I was on the rifle range waiting for my turn. I was missing my family something bad. Everything around me was olive drab and brown colors. No flowers, no birds, no butterflies just trees and dirt. I love trees but I wanted to see beautiful, vibrant colors of nature. As I was sitting there waiting, I was praying and talking to God in my mind. Then out of nowhere these 3 bright yellow butterflies fluttered all around me as if they were wrapping something around me and I instantly felt peace and I heard a voice say, " Everything is going to be alright". Then the butterflies flew away. Since then in stressful or dark situation, I'll see a butterfly and then I feel God's peace and I'm reminded, Everything's going to be alright.

Kelly, what a precious thing to do for your nieces and nephew. In the past three years I have lost my beloved husband. my sister, and my grandson. It is very hard when they go, but what a a blessed day it will be when the children receive their memory boxes.
This video brought me to tears, I just recently lost my mum, my brother, and my boyfriend of 13 years in the last 2 years, and you gave me an amazing idea of what to do with some of their keepsakes and their ashes!

It took me 1 year to know in my heart the right place to scatter my husbands ashes. Plus I had to wait for my daughter to come back home. I also made a picture plus some of his ashes for my children. Don't make any big decisions for at least 1 year. Thank you for helping someone else who is going through the grief process that it is ok to make boxes for later. Keep making your great videos.

Kelly, it was wonderful to see how much you care about your nieces and nephew and how much you cared about your sister. I understand about your struggle with the ashes Deena. I have my mom, dad, and my best friend all in an antique secretary desk curio, The best part is my Mom and Dad are both together in a plain Blackburn's jelly jar, unless you really look it just looks like all the other nic naks that I have collected over the years. I was my father's wish after my mom passed away that he be with her and that we not spend more money than necessary to facilitate his interment. He asked for a Mason jar but we thought that the jelly jar was more his style.
Kelly, be strong. The pain never goes away but the way we deal with it evolves. I lost my parents within 8 months of each other and although that is now over 12 years ago, some days it feels like yesterday. You are blessed by those that we choose to surround us, and it sounds like you are blessed everyday. Keep up the good work! I love your videos!

God Bless You, Kelly. I said a prayer for You. You are a Wonderful Sister and A Very Wonderful AUNTY to Your Beautiful Nieces and Nephew. Your Sister was Beautiful just as You are too. I do know the GREAT PAIN OF LOSS!! From 2002, We lost Our Dad to cancer that He had for many, many years. Our Sister passed away in Aug. of 2004 after a battle with a horrendous rare disease that eventually becomes Leukemia, a blood cancer. Then lastly, and for My Family of My Husband, My Other Son and Myself the most devastating death and 3 months after My Sister passing, Our 18 year old Son, Sean took His Life. Of course, for Us that has and somedays is still so very hard to cope with. Anyway, this is not about Us but I do understand Your Tremendous loss and Your grief also. That was why I prayed for You immediately.

Honey I am so sorry about your sister it really did break my heart I lost my sister back in 1993 with cancer and she had only three days being 46 years old. I cried right along with you when your video today it has just broke my heart for you. You are so amazing to be able to get all those keepsakes for those children and to keep her ashes nothing wrong with that God bless you and praying that you will feel better soon. She knew you would do the right thing that is why she left you in charge because you are truly thinking about her children and you are such a blessing thank you so much your sister was beautiful.

I had him cremated also was his wishes and I feel like you I just couldn't spread his ashes.... I got ammo boxes one for him ashes and one for his remembrance box... I also got the necklaces.... I lost my oldest brother 7 years ago and that just about did us ALL in. He and I had gotten closer b4 he passed, because I was taking him for all his cancer treatments. So we were very close also!! That was hard enough, but losing my sissy or my mom is absolutely gonna put me in the crazy house!! Again sweet girl, I'm soooooo sorry for your loss!! You are an awesome person! Your nieces and nephew will cherish those boxes! I’m very sorry for your loss. I lost my dad 13 years ago. In late 2016 my dads mom (my grandma) passed away. Two weeks later my uncle (dads brother) passed away. On St. Patrick’s Day 2017 my mom passed away. 81 days later my little brother who was 31 passed away. The day of my brothers funeral a close family friend was killed in a motorcycle accident. Later that year two friends passed away. I know what you are going through. It’s hard. My heart feels heavy and hurts. It’s just my sister and myself now. My parents were young. God Bless you!

My dad passed 4 years ago, and for some odd reason, I felt now is the time to spread his ashes at his and his brothers hunting cabin as well as leave his urn there. My dad was an avid hunter, living off the land is how he was raised.
